You can now export a single alembic from Embergen and skip the entire Blender work around. There are still issues with importing specific types of data. Waiting until the kinks are worked out for an update.
You don't have to click from the top to split the view. You can right click on any divider or two diff views and then select split vertically or horizontally. There's also a geonodes viewport setup that Blender comes with so you don't have to change your layout to use geonodes everytime lol.
It´s all nice and cool but where are the particle attributes exported from embergen. They contain color, scale, velocity, etc. They are the entire point in terms of controlling stuff.
Awesome tutorial! Do you know how to give the particles random rotation inside of C4D? Say for example, instead of instancing spheres on the points, you instanced rocks. You'd want the rocks to have a different rotation for a better look. When I try to use a random effector, it makes my instanced objects all jittery and pop.
Right now the particle export from embergen is a bit bugged and doesn't contain correct particle IDs so the particle number jumps around. They are working on a new build to stabilize this but it won't be out for a little bit.
@@RoyalsAndRogues Ahh thanks man. I suspected that was the case I just wasn't sure. I love embergen but issues like this prevent me from using it on the shots I want to so often. For example, today I realized that vertex color currently isn't working on alembic files. It only works on FBX. I saw in their discord that they're working on this but who knows when it'll be fixed. Ugh
@@kickheavy8982 Yeah it is to be expected with young programs that have to work with many other formats but it is annoying to have to wait for patches all the time.
@@RoyalsAndRogues Yeah exactly. Still an amazing program, just gotta roll with the punches. Issues like this make me happy that I invested time into learning how to create the same effect in more than one program. I'm gonna just use C4D's pyro+particles instead for this shot.
when I export the particles from blender as an alembic with all the same parameters, the particles are not visible anywhere in the c4d viewport when I import the .abc file
is there any force in embergen which would make the particle stick on teh surface of an object, for example affected by gravity but they slide down on the object without leaving the surface of it?
Emitter>particle collision> Up Friction, lower bounce, if it's still not sticking enough you can make the repulsion intensity a negative number so the collider pulls it in instead of pushing away.
How do you use the particle size exported from blender? When setting IDs to points usually you'd want the ID to be stable and not changing, cause otherwise you'd get a certain 'popping' of particles. Can the attributes exported from Embergen be used in Blender?
anyone knows how it works for octane in c4d - octane opbject geometry to particles tag is not working for me :( thx for the aweseome on point tutorial.
Hi, ran into a problem when outputting a single alembic from blender, it breaks the vectors at the particles. Could you share a preset to load alembic sequences into cinema4d without blender? The link you provided in the description doesn't have the file (
Not sure I understand the issue, do the particles not let you use a matrix object to map to the points or is the issue they come in as vertex points and not particles. If that is your issue I show a second way to keep them as particles but it's more complicated.
@@RoyalsAndRogues alembic single file imports well into cinema4d. any update on this?
This is sick, there is such little information on embergen online man its tough to learn.
Wow this video could not be better timing lol, I will probably have questions thanks!
btw there is a button in embergen ( 1.1.2 i think ) that exports a single alembic file

Also C4D imports better.
