    I been watching lots of bushcraft and camping videos and this is the first that marked the camp with a light. common sense but definitely brought that to mind for me. I'm always finding cool tricks and tips watching others. thank you and awsome video!

    Always love your videos. I'm sure you know, and no judgment because it was cold, dark, you were filming, and under the gun with a storm coming. I saw it looked like you were sawing with about the first 1/3 of the blade. This applies to all wood work. Make a conscious effort to use the whole blade. Long strokes. You'll find things go quickly and more smoothly when you do. That's just being picky though, all in all it worked and served its purpose 👍🏻

    I was just thinking of what I would like to have if I was camping with you. One would be candles for light, if you have good ones, they would give enough light. Plus with the love you have for bacon, bring some eggs, already cracked in some type of container.

    • @MegaWoodswalker
      @MegaWoodswalker  7 років тому

      I use a UCO candle lantern often in the Tipi to take the edge off in extreme cold though only do that in a vented shelter like a tipi. Thanks for watching!

    You can still use your water filter in the winter. When you're not using it keep it inside a small 1.5l dry sack and inside your coat against your body or inside your sleeping bag when you're not using it. It won't freeze that way. I do the same with my extra batteries as well.

    • @CanadianLinc
      @CanadianLinc 7 років тому +1

      6 man Kifaru tipi and large stove, luxurious with one person in it as you know. The Paratipi worked fine but definitely more cramped.

    • @MegaWoodswalker
      @MegaWoodswalker  7 років тому

      Packing that as well with the Large Kifaru stove. Will take some friction fire stuff and some other things for the traditional Friday daycamp adventure away from camp. Thinking Yucca on Spruce?

    Really nice setup. Great little stove. Would you stoke it again in the night--how long did your one burn last? Nice.

    • @MegaWoodswalker
      @MegaWoodswalker  7 років тому +1

      Burns producing area heat for 1 hour timed. Can be hot longer though not enough to raise the internal temp of the shelter in a measured way. Rather efficient given the 11x7.5 inch body. The stack robber is the reason as it burns gasses within the smoke. Often getting into the bag warm makes the entire better so don't need it to run all night. Sometimes have re stoked the stove during cranking cold (negative 10-30F). If needing to take a piss late at night and feel chilled. Thanks for watching.

    How much does your homemade stove weigh? I am considering building one, anything you would've done differently?

    • @MegaWoodswalker
      @MegaWoodswalker  7 років тому +1

      The total stove with pipe and all the fixings is just under 6 lbs. I would have made it a little bit longer so the rolled up pipe could fit inside for packing. I made it to fit a side pouch for a pack I no longer use.

    • @pope1856
      @pope1856 7 років тому

      What length is the rolled up flue pipe. I think I am going to use that as my max length. Also your door looks perfect after 10 years. How did you keep it from warping?

    i like the marker light, Is that a kifur tent?

    • @MegaWoodswalker
      @MegaWoodswalker  7 років тому +1

      The light is a Nitecore LR30. At one time used a candle lantern for that purpose but moved over to LEDs. Still occasionally use the candle lantern in the tent. Yes a Kifaru 6-man. Had it for over 10 years now. Great but expensive shelter. Thanks for watching!

      That's one pro to the LED revolution which happened when Cree introduced the XR-E back in 2007 or so. 10 years later I can pack LED headlamps which can literally light up an entire yard. More powerful than even a car headlamps. Amazing stuff. So the pressure to setup before sunset is no longer there. Thanks for watching!

    My mega mid has more room then that. It maybe 6 man but you better be real friendly. Typical over selling a product.

    • @MegaWoodswalker
      @MegaWoodswalker  6 років тому

      Mega mid is 84 inches tall with around 51 sq f. Floor dimensions are 86 x 86 inches. Kifaru 6 man is 90 inches high with floor dimensions of 158 x 178 inches with around (under estimated) 136 sq f. Thanks for watching!

    • @adventureswithfrodo2721
      @adventureswithfrodo2721 6 років тому +1

      Guess it is the way it is pitched. The sides just may need to be pulled out. But way it looks is a lot of room is taken up by the concave slope on the of the walls. how heavy is the tent?

    • @MegaWoodswalker
      @MegaWoodswalker  6 років тому

      The actual floor space is even more as it's conical. More like 150 sq f. The shelter's shape is made to be wind proof and allow a wood stove to be used etc. I can actually stand up inside. The weight is 6 lbs 4 oz.
