System looks sikkk brother.
Can't believe it does 8.4 Bec!! Every system needs to adopt this practice moving forward. Necessary for cooling and for HV Servos in ANY scale so cool that they didn't handycap this 1/10tu scale system with lower bec❤️❤️
Nice bro,
That camera work tho😏😜
Yeah not really sure what was happening there. Normally I'm a lot better at tracking the jumps but today was just not my day for it.
Awesome setup. I love how well your Outcast preformed with the Max10. 👍👍
Yeah it's an absolute beast! Thanks for watching and if you aren't already subscribed a sub is appreciated :-)
Nice ! I just bought this same setup for a Traxxas Ford Fiesta ST Rally and it rocks !
Yeah I would imagine it would be pretty overpowered in a application like that! Thanks for watching and if you aren't already subscribed a sub is appreciated :-)
Looks like a sold combo in that beast of a truck. Nice review👍
Yeah it's pretty sweet! I can't believe how cool it runs with how much power it has. These things must be crazy efficient.
I think I know the combo I’m getting for my Outcast V2! Great video! 😁
Definitely worth a try! It's running great :-)
I just ordered this ESC for my new Vorteks 223s since I hate the stock transmitter and have to do both due to the dumb 2in1 ESC. Looking forward to seeing how it performs. If I can get a little more pep in the servo, then I can wait to do anything with that for a little while. 😄
Running the servo on 7.4 volts should definitely give it more jam.
ohsnap! i JUST left my LHS with one of these combos! so crazy! i'm putting it in my Kraton 4S! i don't even know what to expect yet, never put one on a basher.🤜🤛
I don't think you'll be disappointed. It's awesome. The stock system is good don't get me wrong but this definitely puts a little extra pep in the step :-). Thanks for watching if you aren't already subscribed a sub is appreciated:)
@@DoRC yessir i am! likewise!
Awesome 👍🏻
Happy Thanksgiving 🙏
Thanks you too!
Can you give a quick answer to what is bec? You mentioned bumping it up at the end of the vid. Or maybe you discuss in a separate video? Love the channel, man.
It stands for battery eliminator circuit. Back in the day it would be a separate module but these days it's integrated into your speed controller or ESC. Essentially it takes battery voltage and steps it down to a voltage that then gets sent out to the receiver and the rest of the electronics through the receiver (servo etc)
Is that voltage is sometimes adjustable in the ESC and a higher voltage can mean more power available to the servo. The general lowest voltage is six volts but some servos can take 7.4 or even 8.4 volts. Some ESCs are adjustable to those voltages and others are not.
Most receivers can handle more than 6 volts though the Traxxas ones tend to be kind of iffy and can blow up if you push them over 6 volts.
Looks like it’s ripping bro. Nice review
Yeah I'm really impressed with it!
Love your videos hope you keep it up and don’t run into problems and I hope you get enough likes on them as well
Thanks!
I was actually going do opposite, I been running on road buggy wheels or Mojave wheels . I like stride for getting power to ground , the tricks come other ways ..I love the new g2 max8 hw myself I have it in big old Mojave and still rocks . I was trying decide what I want to do 4s outcast I figured going same route as the Maxx . I ordered 5s battery I think these new hobbywing will accept and will be the sweet spot .
They might put in my experience hobbywing does not like 5S. It just detects it as a discharged 6s
I literally just got the same combo. I love hobbywing. Anyway gonna put in a rival mt10. Lol. Can’t wait.
Nice!
3665 too big for the MT10 how you get it to fit in the end?
Don’t know but it fits. With plenty of room
I mean I do got the M2c motor mount but don’t think that has anything to do with it
MAN that looks fun!!
It is. You should try one!
Looks amazing. My opinion, I feel the 2400kv should have been a 3670 length. Not a fan of the proprietary sensor plug being un-detachable either. The ESC seems perfected for 4s power.
Yeah I would like to see a slightly bigger motor option but to be honest I'm extremely impressed with the motor that I put in the outcast. It's awesome!
We can probably get that motor 3200 kv and run on 3s for the same or even faster . I thought stock motor looked short for 2400kv I wonder if Maxx motors bigger. These new hobbywings are awesome
Not sure 3s would be faster. You're giving up 25% of your power with the lower voltage.
Alr ive been using this combo for a while now and i have one compaint. The proprietary senser wire sucks ass. If its not perfectly straight the pins can bend and the senser will disconnect. Youll probably have to heat shrink it all together
Interesting. I've run several of these and have never had a problem with the sensor wire. Are you making sure that the wires are securely tied down so they don't fly around in crashes?
I hate the fact that the sensor button is hard wired. So If the lead breaks or rips out of the ESC case, you're screwed.
My issue with Hobby wing escs
Yeah I suppose but most of the other wires are hardwired on any other ESC so you're kind of in the same boat.
Thanks for sharing!!
Thanks for watching and if you aren't already subscribed a sub is appreciated :-)
Im thinking of putting this in my big rock. Maybe bump up 2 sizes in pinion
Should be plenty of power :-)
Would the jumping and chassis slaps hurt the sensor in the motor? I was told to avoid a sensored system in the outcast.
Not something I've really ever experienced. The car is already full of electronics and the sensor board in the motor is pretty robust. I wouldn't worry about that.
Do you think the hibbywing 10bl120 g2 is any better than the stock motor in the 4s kraton v2.5 ? I just purchased the 8bl150 g2 for it , u have the m2c motor plate , hoping the 8bl motor will fit , its a 4274 2000 kv. Saw it in your videos. Big fan
The 10 BL 120 G2 is basically a G1 Max 10 SCT. The stock ESC in the 2.5 is pretty similar to that.
Did you run this on 4s? Love my 3652 on 3s but looking to upgrade to a 4s combo in a couple of cars😅😂
Yes I ran it on 4S.
How would this motor and ESC combo do in the losi tenacity DB pro
On 3S I would say it probably would be similar to the stock system but if you want to go up to 4S it obviously would be quite a bit more powerful. The DB pro weighs about 7 lb with a battery which should be fine for this system. If you really want to upgrade though a 1/8 scale system might be more appropriate. I'm not super familiar with that drivetrain and I'm not sure how it would handle that kind of power though
@DoRC so you think I should go with the same system but just with a 3200 KV motor because it come with a 3150 KV stock motor
@azbrown821 when you say same system what are you referring to? What are your goals?
@@DoRC just a little more speed and plus I want a sensor system
The new hobbywing sensored 3665 4000kv dosent fit in the Associated Pro 4 Sc10.
Am i better off with the sensored 80 amp combo with 3652 4100kv.
Or the Sensorless 120amp combo 3660 3700kv.
Want to run on 2s when racing and 3s for park fun.
Wish they had a 140amp 3660 4000kv sensored combo lol
I'm not sure. I always think more power is more better and 80 amps it seems a little light for a 1/10 scale four-wheel drive truck but most people that race want to run sensored.
Just ordered that motor for my Kraton 4sV2, but I'm pairing it with a Castle MMX6S.
Now I just gotta grab a sensor adapter cable from hobbywing and a sensor adapter cable from castle... 🤦🏿♂️
I don't believe they make and adapter cable that will connect to the motor side connector. I think they only make one for the ESC side.
@@DoRCI'll have to double check the HobbyWing site. But I'm sure I had one in my cart somewhere.
Castle has a few adapters. The direct connect sensor cable that allows you to connect a standard sensored motor directly to the Castle ESC.
And then there's the Castle adapter that plugs into the ESC so a standard sensor cable can connect. I have one of those, but need 2 more for the MMX8s & the other MMX6s
If I'm wrong then I guess I'm grabbing the Max10 140. There's this big rock covered hill that I'm Curious if the Kraton 4s can conquer!
@@VDVC-RC Yeah I've looked before and I haven't seen one. If you do find one let me know so I can be aware that it exists. The only other option would be to use the adapter cable that they do have and figure out which pins go where cut the plug off of the motor and create your own cable. Pretty risky but you'd be the first one to do it.
I think I need to buy a outcast v2 I think I would of love it more than this notorious 6s v5
Do you mean the 4S model?
Other than sensored, is there any upside to this setup vs a stock 6s 150a/2050 combo in the 4s outcast? Both seem overpowered and you said the 6s set up was too much last time😅
It's lighter and has some more features but 150 2050 combos probably cheaper and even on 4S would probably be more powerful. I don't think you'd be disappointed with either one.
@@DoRC thanks man I appreciate your reply
You're welcome :-)
I love my Outcast 4s’s stock motor and ESC, I’m just looking to upgrade the stock servo.
Anyone have great success with another servo they can share?
The power hobby 729 is a great option. It's definitely not the cheapest servo but it's the last one you'll have to buy for the car.
Awesome 🎉
Definitely :-)
Hey @dorc you've been very helpful answering my Questions and I appreciate it, very helpful! I'm really on the fence between picking up the max10 g2 140 amp combo vs the quicrun .10bl 120 amp combo for my brushed rival mt10. I don't necessarily mind spending the extra money if it would be worth it, better performance, less likely to overheat, last longer, etc. I'm familiar with the difference between sensor motors / vs non. Would the max10 g2 140amp combo be wasted in a car like the my10, too much motor/esc for a car like that? I do have an ezrun max6 combo (non g2 version) in my kraton exb and it's been awesome, that's why I'm on the fence. Thanks!
If you don't mind spending the extra money just go with the Max 10 G2. I think the 10bl120 is sufficient but that extra overhead is always nice so you don't have to worry about heat issues ever.
Can you still use the standard receiver and controller that comes with the car ?
Yes. Barring some sort of weird incompatibility you can use pretty much any receiver with pretty much any ESC.
@@DoRC thank you my spektrum esc has packed in so looking at this combo
i have the same max10 g2 with 3665 4100kv and my optima mid is damn quick
Nice!
Awesome vid! Love the setup. Did you happen to feel if the motor/esc were hot when you were done bashing?
Yeah I forgot to mention at the end of the video but there were no issues with heat. Granted it's not super hot out right now but I also didn't even have a fan on the motor.
@@DoRC is it possible you could have fitted the old heat sink and fan from the stock motor?
Are you asking if I did or are you asking if it's possible to?
Hey nice video man. How were you temps? It is sustainable in that platform? I’ve been reading that system is better for a true 1/10 scale like a slash that weighs on 5 pounds?
Temps were fine. The Max 10 G2 is a stronger system than what comes stock in these trucks. 5 lb is definitely selling something like this short.
I have a traxxas rustle 4x4, 3.10 kg weight. Does a 19 pinion and spur 53 will work without problems? 🤔
Unfortunately I haven't really spent a lot of time with the 3S platform lately so I'm not super familiar with what gearing works. That being said gearing is also super subjective and what works for one person won't necessarily be what works for another. I would recommend just trying it and seeing how it goes. Keep an eye on motor and ESC temps and see what works best for you and your set up.
@@DoRC Thanks for the reply🤗
@@dascalsergiu7924 thanks for watching!
Is the stock pinion a direct fit it no?🤔
Yes if it's right on and works perfectly. That's what I'm using in this video :-) thanks for watching and if you aren't already subscribed a sub is appreciated!
Thanks, and yes I'm subbed, ur video are a big help thanks a lot bro, and keep them coming
@@jawzer6980 awesome man thanks for being a subscriber! Glad you enjoy :-)
What pinion did you use and did you have any over heating issues. And is that original spur i got kraton 4s
If I remember quickly it was the stock gearing and I don't remember having any overheating issues.
@@DoRCwhat is stock 13t
Can you swap out to a standard sensor cable in order to run other motors?
Hobby wing makes an adapter cable to go from there style to a standard sensored motor
@@DoRC Yep, just found it online but I appreciate you getting back to me so quickly! 👍 Enjoying getting caught up on your videos. Are you affiliated with HW then?
No. I'm not really affiliated with anyone.
I just bought a vorteks 223s and a big rock 3s for my kid for Christmas. I'm having such short run times compared to his big rock. He drives it like it's stolen so it's not because he's being easy on it. Some people are saying the new esc is the problem. I was thinking about changing the esc to the blx100 that comes in the big rock. Now I've come across the max10 combo's, I'm a big fan of your videos and came across this one. Do you think changing to the blx100 would help with the run times? Thanks
I haven't really noticed short run times. Are you running in thick grass by any chance?
@@DoRCwe ran it on a baseball field yesterday. Nothing thick. He's getting at least double. I'm going to get exact time's this afternoon. If it's really bad, maybe something is bound up somewhere. Thank you for the response. I really appreciate your videos
@iamme2522 Yeah have you tried switching batteries between the two? It really shouldn't be that different. The only other thing I was thinking is that the big rock has quite a bit more ground clearance which means it'll be less susceptible to ground friction such as thick grass
we've been running the smc 5200 2s batteries. I didn't want 3s at first so we wouldn't go to crazy 😂. We've kept them separated but I'm bringing one of mine and one of his to see if there's a difference
@@JKsrc Yeah definitely try swapping them. It's possible there's a problem with one of the batteries. Also try swapping controls. Give him the big rock and you take the vortex and see what happens. You might be surprised at the results as driving style really effects battery life and it might just be a difference in driving style
Is the battery plug installed?
I can't remember. I think these game with XT90s but don't hold me to that. Hobby Wing tends to change what plugs they include from time to time so but I had might not even be what you get. Thanks for watching and if you aren't already subscribed a sub is appreciated!
is it more power efficient?
I think the G2 systems are very efficient. They don't get nearly as hot as some other systems do and heat generation is a direct result of inefficiency.
@@DoRC thx
after realizing they are not cheap
i am going for a 4268 2600kv in my outcast 4s
or do you think its worth getting a sensord setup
@@politie_jip112 If you're going to go with a G2 ESC I'd recommend getting the matching motor. The G2 yeses are kind of hit or miss with sensorless motors
@@DoRC in my country the max 10 comes with g3 motor
but i mean the quicrun 4268 2600kv has no sensors
Do you think the extra 20 amps over the max 10 120amp in the redcat Valkrie is the defining factor that keeps this from overheating?
That's partially it but it's more of an efficiency thing. Heat is a direct by-product of inefficiency in the system so the more efficient the system is the less heat it will produce.
@@DoRC So this ESC is that much more efficient OR it still isn't good enough to run 4s without overheating in the Valkrie? Or should I simply toss in a
Hobbywing QuicRun 8BL150 G2 Sensorless Brushless ESC/4274SL Motor Combo (2000kV)?
@@DoRC Thanks for your videos btw. Maybe there is a way to mount a surpass hobby rocket fan onto the stock valkyrie Max10 by snipping off the fan shroud (guessing a 25x25mm fan)
@SpellboundStats It is significantly more efficient though I still think for something as large as the Valkyrie you're better off going with a 6S system and just running it on 4S.
@@DoRC I just ordered my valkyrie based on yours and razor RC's videos. I will go ahead and pull the trigger on the 8bl150 2000kv combo they have at hobbywing right now for 124.99, thanks!
Damn and I have the max 8 g2 in my kraton 4s v2
I'll bet that's sweet!
Thanks for watching and if you aren't already subscribed a sub is appreciated:)
What pinion gear do you recommend with this set up?
I would start with stock and just see how you go from there. Gearing is such a personal thing that it's really hard to make a specific recommendation to anyone. Thanks for watching and if you enjoy my videos a sub is appreciated!
The stock Spectrum ESC is 120A, not 130A
You're absolutely right. I didn't realize that Horizon had two different 4S ESCs. Even better :-) thanks for watching!
For notorious 6s v5 the max 8 v2 hobby wing would be able to fit in it right ?
Yes that would fit and work well
Can I put this combo in my rlaarlo omni terminator with a cnhl 5000mah 4s lipo
As long as it's the carbon OT I think the motor will fit. I don't think a 5,000 4S battery is going to fit though in the tray
Could I run NIMH Battery on this? Any suggestions on a battery if so? I’m new to RC🤙
I don't think these are nickel metal hydride compatible but these days you really don't want to be running and IMH I don't think these are nickel metal hydride compatible but these days you really don't want to be running n i m h anyway.
That combo is powerful even running in a large 10th scale i might buy a couple of these systems for my Slash 4x4 and my Hoss. I think this might be a better idea than doing a Mamba x and a 1415 or 1412.
Yeah I don't think you would be disappointed in either one of those
Wonder what will handle power better? My Slipper or should I go into the Center diff? I think center diff will handle power better...but is it needed? Thoughts?
Absolutely get the center differential. The only downside to it is that it costs more money. In every other respect it's superior to the slipper clutch. If you want more wheelies run thicker fluid if you want more wheelie control run thinner fluid.
@@DoRC Yeah good points. I've had alot of luck with the slipper...but center diff would be nice. Only cost around 60 bucks too I believe
Your truck rips
Yeah it's a fun truck!
Does anyone know if this would be strong enough for an arrma Typhon 6s? Id like to get a sensored system for occasional racing but dont want to break the bank
If you want sensored I'd go with the max8 g2. Max 10 is a bit small for the 6s Typhon.
@DoRC that's kinda what I figured.. think I'll just save my money and use it for a max 6 combo instead. It's hard to justify getting something that's the same price but not nearly as good
@@DoRC this max 10 would be great in my slash ultimate tho.. I'm very tempted 😂
@@SteveNavarro-qc3vl definitely

@@paulclancy2404 oh oops
@@Paul0088 man that sucks. I wonder what the holdup is
So the foot print is the same as the older MAX10 sct? The older fits perfect in my rig. Can it b run sensorless?
I believe the footprint itself is basically the same however this has a non-removable sensor wire sticking out the front which will increase its overall footprint a little bit. It can be run sensorless though I have had some strange issues with G2 ESCs and sensorless motors. Sometimes it's not a problem but seems like sometimes it is.
@@DoRC thanks for the reply and info. Id run it sensored but just curious as to the performance of sensorless for all the other motors i have. I have heard some mixed reviews on this v2 but mostly well liked. And i hear that the new 10Bl120 is actually the older MAX10 sct esc. Ive had good luck with that max10 gen. I just need about that same output in a reliable esc the same size physically. I didn’t think about the sensor wire! Good info. I believe itd work. Thanks again. Things are expensive these days and whn a good price on quality stuff comes round its nice. 👍
That’s not the king for that car. The Max8 G2 with the 40 series 4S motor is where it’s at for that car.
Maybe. I think the Max 8 G2 would be overkill for a vehicle of this weight. The max 10 G2 140 amp is all the power you could need and smaller cheaper and lighter.
Max8 g2 is specific for 1/8 scale which is probably overkill for a 1/10
@am12eaz93 I think that's true as well. With the previous generation stuff the Max 8 might have been the most appropriate thing especially if you're going to be really putting a lot of but this newer generation stuff is very powerful and efficient. I think Max 10G2 140 amp is plenty for that platform. Thanks for watching!
@@am12eaz93 it’s not specific for it anything, and it works great in both the K4 and O4. I have them both and I just pulled the 4S motors out of them because they were over heating, I am assuming because of the weight. Mine are fully built with HR diff cups, HR ring and pinion, M2C motor mount & brace, HR Bellcrank/servo saver. Aluminum hubs and carriers, reefs raw 500, etc, and now I am running the 6S variant of the HW 40 series motor, and I have it on 6S not 4. Runs great.
@alankowalski8781 were you running them on the new G2 4S systems or on the stock 4S systems?
Would've liked to know the speed and Temps so 👎👎from me bud.
No issues with the temps. If there were I would have said something. Top speed runs aren't really my thing so you won't see them much on my channel. The top speed I get wouldn't necessarily match the top speed anybody else gets anyway due to batteries, traction, length of run etc.
Appreciate your input though and also appreciate you watching :-)
