Nikhil Banjerjee started taking training in Sitar under the guidance of Prof. Bejamin Gomes, a senior disciple of the legendary Sitar maestro Ustad Inayat Khan.
Baba devised a unique style which matched Nikhil’s musical temperament and helped him to achieve great heights in music. Raga Bhatiyar is a morning Raga, and this piece played by Pt. Nikhil Banerjee is regarded as one of his most outstanding one.

Fine performance. Is the name of the tabla player known? Usually AIR maintained fairly accurate records but records became disorderly when tapes were shared with other radio stations. The restoration has emphasised the treble making the tabla overly crisp and staccato.
