    If you ever go to Rome they still have the balcony set up where Mussolini give his speeches. It's right across from the Roman Forum and a building they call "the Wedding cake" or the Altara della Patria which was built to celebrate the unification of Italy in 1861. Right beside that is the former secret police headquarters.

      @giorgiociaravolol1998 8 місяців тому +1

      It's not the first time. Small raid parties are the best because of many factors such as high mobility, unpredictability, easier coordination and lower supplies necessities. Some of the best examples can be found with the seljuk turks, the chevauchées in france and many more. Plus being in the desert with a smaller force, going into the huge sandbox called lybia really helps under every circumstance. Something that isn't possible to do in Egypt

    Interesting story. At the encirclement of the German 6th army the Italian Alpine Corps held the northern flank. The Germans had neglected to give them any food or anti tank weapons. They were mountain troops on the Eurasian steppe, it was winter and they had little food but they did have training to deal with the cold, though they only had 2 axes for several thousand men to chop wood. When the Soviets attacked during Operation Little Saturn when the Romanian and Germans lines were crumbling it was the Italians that held firm, they did not believe the Soviets were actually attacking since their attacks were so weak. When the Soviet infantry advanced they could beat them back, when the tanks advanced they used improvised weapons and anti tank minefields. The attack was real but the Soviets had botched it against the Italians, it took new leadership for the local soviet forces to actually figure out combined arms and finally crush the Italians.
    Sad lot for the Italians as if they surrender they would be treated badly as hated fascists. If they fled they could possibly be killed by the Soviets as combatants or die to the cold. If they regrouped with the Germans they would soon find out their country had surrendered to the Allies and have the Germans turn on them.

      During WW1 since 1) Austria invaded first 2)didn't share any information and 3) didn't compensate for its previous expansion in the Balkans 4) violating the DEFENSIVE alliance they all signed.
      During WW2 since the painter lied to us about the start of the war, never share any of its plans of conquest with its closest ally, didn't provide enough troops to hold the invasion while secretely planning to invade Italy in case M got yeeted and he left Armir in the cold during the retreat in Russia. And not the people who wanted peace and freedom not the king were very happy to continue the M's moronic wars

    • @nicokc7
      @nicokc7 11 місяців тому +30

      Italy never changed sides, in WW1 Austria started the war so since the pact was defensive Italy wasn't forced to join+ Italy declared war only on Austria, then the entent forced italy to declare war to all of the central powers.
      In WW2 Mussolini was arrested and the new government that wasn't fascist anymore signed an armistice with the allies and then germany invaded italy and liberated mussolini, with all of this the civil war started.

    Germany: "Man, these Ferdinands are absolute shit! They can't even climb hills all that well, what are we going to do with them?"
    Also Germany: "Eh... we'll just send them to the Italians, that'll make sure they're not our problem anymore..."
    Italy: **A very mountainous place**
    Honestly, I have heard of plenty of examples of bored military officials not really caring enough causing disastrous results but this has GOT to be the funniest...

      I wouldn’t say every battle, they attempted to invade Italy in 1945 and it ended in disaster. They were unable to take over the final Italian stronghold within their land which was defended by a mere 46 Italian alpine troops most likely from the Monterosa. De Gaulle was embarrassed that his forces were not able to make claims on Aosta.

      @@radjiledessinateur6155 there was more than 9 men and the story it’s based off is a myth from Reddit. The casemate of Pont Saint Louis held off only a few hundred rather than the 5,000 stated. They were being supported by artillery from nearby casemates such at the Ouvrage Cap Martin. Pont Saint Louis was armed with a 37mm AT gun and two twin machine guns. The overall strength of the men at Cap Martin and Pont Saint Louis was 343 men with a single officer. For context the casemates were basically massive cliff bunkers and were heavily fortified and armed.
