    Great tip I’ll add to my Gimpy Grammy version with tractor tire. For shorter weaker folks works well. For less tortured viewing start at 9 minutes in 2x playback speed. This year a sharpened ax and no frozen wood is in my plan.👍

    I subbed cause she reluctantly said @6:04 Soon you will have 100 subs and you will continue to grow. Then maybe she will see that you tube is worth the while. God bless.

    I wondered why you called it a caterpillar tunnel - can see why at the end. Good thing you had helpers! Where are you located? It looks drier there. I live in the mountains an hour from Seattle. See my video on favorite veggies to grow, and making low sugar jam - feel free to support my channel. I've thought many times of building a greenhouse - this might be a lighter option to consider.

      Hi Hartz Homestead. We are located in Northern California’s high desert Great Basin region. Average rainfall 14 inches. Thanks for subscribing! We look forward to checking out your channel.

    Hi Bidwell Cancyon Farm...great video! Thanks for the sharing. How is the tunnel fairing up?? We are looking to erect a couple at Wakelyns as part of a new CSA we're setting up there/. Just wondering what hte width was on yours, and how long the rebar stakes were, and if you are satisfied with the length? Thanks/. Holly

      @BidwellCanyonFarm  3 роки тому

      Hi Holly, the tunnel is going into its third season. (We take the plastic off each winter.) it is 13’ wide at the base. We have three beds and two pathways. It is a bit short for me (6’4”) and i have to duck or crawl to get where i am going. The rebar is cut to 3’ lengths and is 5/8” in diameter or #5. We have been happy with it so far especially for the price. I will say we just received two caterpillar tunnels from farmers friend through an NRCS program and although we haven’t set them up yet, I can see the quality is definitely there and foresee these caterpillars lasting a really long time. Hope this helps. Best

    How is this holding up in the sun?

    • @BidwellCanyonFarm
      @BidwellCanyonFarm  4 місяці тому

      We take the plastic off each winter so it doesn’t get fully annihilated. But we typically can get 8-10 years out of the greenhouse plastic.

    How wide is the plastic required for this tunnel?

    • @BidwellCanyonFarm
      @BidwellCanyonFarm  Рік тому +1

      Hi Theresa, the plastic we bought is greenhouse specific (UV inhibited) and measures 24’ x 100’ . There is a link in the description for the exact one that was purchased. I think there is other size options also. Thanks for reaching out!

    After using this a few seasons now, is there anything you would've done differently with this tunnel? THANKS!!

    • @BidwellCanyonFarm
      @BidwellCanyonFarm  3 роки тому +1

      I guess end walls would be more convenient for getting in and out, but they would add a lot to the cost. We are happy with it overall. One thing to note is we take the plastic off each year at the end of the season. This definitely helps the longevity. This year we invested in two caterpillar tunnels from Farmer’s Friend. We are looking forward to putting those up soon.

      @@BidwellCanyonFarm thanks again for the inspiration and step-by-step process, and list of materials. Super useful. I wanted a kit too, but to get started, this is about half the cost. Grateful for the sharing.

    How wide is this tunnel at the base? and how tall at the highest? We're making the same--and want to be sure we measure correctly! THANKS for sharing this!!

    • @BidwellCanyonFarm
      @BidwellCanyonFarm  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Molly. It is right around 13’ at the base. We have three 3’ wide beds inside It is probably close to 7’ tall in the middle. I hit my head (I am 6’4) when walking down the rows due to the curve in the pipes. But i make due. Thanks for commenting!

    Yep. Farmers Friend and all those companies sell an overpriced product. This is method is effective, quicker, cheaper, and movable. I do the same process but cover with shade cloth because I am in the Deep South. I bought one Greenhouse from Farmers Friend, was not impressed, and decided PVC was just a better alternative.

      Yeah, the FF house and the pvc house got mangled a few years back and it was real easy to fix the PVC house and get it back up and running. The FF house is still stacked on a pallet not sure if we will use it again.
