Thank you!! Such kind words! I do have a vision and I’m very thankful that you see that as well! Thank you for your support and wish nothing but the best for you and your family as well...trying times indeed so let’s make the best of it
It's great mate, we do the best we can with what is available. I started with just a very old tablet doing my videos, I only had one place to work and about 4 kits in the stash. I kept it like that for ages, until one day I came home from a really awful, violence filled shift and it was constant all the way through the shift and 14 hours long shift. I came home showered and eat etc then I said I'm just having a half hour at the bench, in the Cave upstairs. I went up and shut the door, I had about 25minutes and I watched a couple of folks videos on UA-cam, modelling ones and I came out a new fresh person, no stress I'd even forgot about the day I'd just had. So I thought to myself, I love modelling I truly do, always have done, even my time in Iraq and Afghan I was seeing the US vehicles, some our ours I hadn't seen before and I'd said I'd love to build that one day, etc. So, I decided the next day that I'd spend a bit of money and get a few bits that will help me get a bit better and take our wonderful hobby a bit more serious. I never wanted to enter any shows or competitions I just said I'm doing it to relax, for me. So for the next few months, I'd saved and set another little savings area up for the hobby. I always made sure my bills were paid, brayden my son was all paid for, you know the maintenance etc to his mum, always got him other bits on top especially if he had done well at school kept his room tidy, did some jobs for his mum and her chap. Then what was left I'd save for the hobby. Well, being a single parent, single there wasn't much saved but I'd always saved during my life. I had a weeks leave coming up and brayden was at school so I had in the school hours and when he was in bed or out with his mates to be able to work on getting the Cave done. I thought to, that brayden likes his models to so its also going to be good for him to. Well I started decorating it, bought some shelves, plastic draw units etc etc and I basically did it when I could. I would try and buy the best of tools and bits that I could with my budget and I just did it that way. It slowly grew and now I have a Cave, with two areas for modelling, a building desk, and painting area. Various shelves for for my books, I love books, which I'm sure if you've watched any of my videos you will of picked up. Over the time I got a new airbrush, better tools etc. I've always said, if you say you want a book and it's 20 30 pounds, if you can afford get it, if you look after your items then it's a one of payment that I'm sure will pay for itself over time. Books especially you can have them for life if you look after them. That's what I did. It can be time consuming and bits are expensive but if you can't afford them then save or get the next best you can. The bottom line to remember and this is the most important out of anything you will hear or be told....... Its a hobby, for most of us, hobbys are meant for excitement, joy, happiness. So do whatever you want that you will enjoy. If you don't want model today or tomorrow, don't, it will always be there once you are ready for it. My rule is, if I ever start saying " I've got to do this or I really need to do that" and start feeling that your not really enjoying it then stop. If you don't it will become a chore and that's not enjoyment. If you need anything buddy you know where I am message me anytime
I’m building a Late King Tiger and I have done the painting. I was curious to know if you put clear coat on before or after decals (I’ve never used it before)
I usually apply a gloss coat before decals and then again after...really minimizes those edges and seals the decals in..also the gloss coat really helps with the wash as it allows the wash to flow into the recesses much better due to minimizing the surface tension
OOH lemme make some vac form crash poles for the front of Walmart! I’m building one this weekend out of an old plastic tote that hooks up to any vacuum
