Can you may add the time stamps into the description? This would be cool as we could use UA-cam newest feature seeing the time stamps in the timeline in the video;)
Middle Earth was much bigger in the First Age. The battle against Morgoth (OG Dark Lord) was so destructive that it caused the western half of the continent to sink into the ocean. If he ever made a video where he builds a map of the lost regions of Middle Earth, we could call that "second map". ;)
So I'm a long time lotr fan but mostly through the movies. I read lotr and Hobbit ages ago but am only just now getting into the 1st and 2nd age stuff. Wasn't the flooding of numemor what really changed the map so to speak?
@@jkfozul2316 In a way it did. There were two major changes in the structure of the world after the Quendi (Elves) and the Hildar (Men) awoke, though there were several destructions and rebuildings around the battles, that the Valar fought against Morgoth (still named Melkor back then) before the awaking of the elves at Cuivienen. The first one of these later changes was the devastation, that the War Of Wrath brought upon the lands of Beleriand, the continent that sunk after the years of battle fought in this war. According to "The Tale of Years" the War of Wrath lasted more than 4 decades! So great were the destructive powers of the host of the Valar and the armies of Morgoth, that the continent was utterly demolished and sunk soon after the war ended in the victory of the Valar. The second change was more fundamental in a way though. Around 3300 years later, when the Numenoreans pride was finally overflowing and spilled war on the shores of the undying lands, the Valar renounced the Government of Arda and Iluvathar sank the continent of Numenor. An interesting side fact is that after the downfall of Numenor the island was referred to in Adunaic as Akallabeth, 'The Fallen', while in Quenya 'The Fallen' means 'Atalante'... which sounds strangely familiar. But the sinking of that proud civilization was not the only change! Iluvathar changed the shape of the world from a plain to a globe, with Valinor being taken out of this world, only to be reached by secret passages granted to the remaining Eldar in Middleearth. This was done to prevent anyone from entering the resting place of the Valar, that was not meant to be there (the Humans). The one passage most used was the "last straight road", the way on which the ships from the Grey Havens travelled. It was called the last straight road because naturally on a globe all roads are crooked and bent. Not so that particular passage, on which the ships of the Eldar took a straight course, out of the waters into the ethereal Lands of Valinor.
Most of the names come from Sindarin, but their variations may come from Quenya, which is another elvish language or from the Dwarves’ language, for exmaple: Khazad (Dwarf language): Dwarf Dûm: Mansion, excavation etc. Moria (Sindarin): Mor: Abyss Ia: Dark

This year hasn't been easier with a big family fight, the pandemic and my final exams stressing the hell out of me.
