I think that in Half Life 2 Episode 1 towards the end of the game, the Civil Protection does go Rogue, but not in the sense as in "Join the ressistance" and more along the lines of "We need to survive", They aren't part of the combine anymore but aren't rebels either, they're just on their own like the rest of all the people in City 17 at the end of Half life 2

I’ve always been under the idea that when it comes to video game adaptations into some other form of media, best it adapts something that’s a part of that universe and not just a remake of a story already told, that way, for people who haven’t played the games, it exists as a means of introducing them to that universe, and can go on to play the games if they want more. Here’s the point I’m coming to. If they ever made a Half Life movie or TV show, I’d adore it to focus around say, a CP officer either becoming self aware and joining the resistance to help their fight against the Combine, could make for a fun dystopian action movie or something, or perhaps, the Resistance capture a CP officer, and with the help of say, Kleiner, interested to see if they can modify their brains to think differently, giving back their humanity and learning that the Combine are the evil they were born into. Think that could work too, because like all good science fiction, your Robocop and Terminator movies (the good ones) in particular, at their cores they’re about analysing the human condition, what makes us human and what makes the robots/aliens/war machine not human. Just an idea, would much rather see those ideas explored, rather than some incompetent studio who have no idea what makes Half Life work, make their movie about Gordon Freeman and give him a voice, and a bland, generic one at that or something ridiculous, not realising that he’s supposed to be mute, the same way Doom Slayer is mute because we are him.

Hm, i this is a pretty cruel world for the Civil protection. It's like you want to know the feeling of joining the Civil Protection and then knowing its cruel reality, you then feel like joining the resistance but you can't Breen or Civil Protections will know what happened.

I think the reasoning is that metro cops are simply militia of sorts, they are just simple humans. Sure when fighting Gordon it's different because he is actually armed and they dont want to die, but a large amounts of normal civilians whom were just like them before the combine are having to be executed without any sort of court of law simply because they *might* become a threat. First unarmed civilian you execute is easy. The second? Third? Tenth? At what point does a militia who is serving an empire that isnt even composed of his own race draw a line in the sand. That's what these sfms show.
