    World upside down, my lecturer in programming explains this and I don't understand a thing. Guy with laundry basket on his head explains this and it all becomes clear.

      All the way from elementary through high school I never learned vowels and consonants. I probably could have memorized them, like all my teachers tried to make me do if i only had any kind of interest in doing so. But i hadn't and i didn't. Then my friend told me one day in my later teen years - "you know consonants are made up of two different sounds, and vowels are single sounds right?". I was just mindblown, and immediately i was like - "why didn't they just say that from the get go, like a decade ago...?". I've never made any effort to learn about this, i just know it and always will because someone simply told me about it without using a method of description that was specifically developed to teach stuff even to the very dumbest of us.

    I've been watching so many programming tutorials lately and things can get very dry after a while so I'm super glad you shared your laundry basket story. Your neighbor must think that she lives next to such a weirdo. :D

    hey man, thanks for your videos. Starting to learn about new coding features can be pretty daunting. There is a whole lot to learn and most of it is about semantics; many times there is a pretty easy to understand logic behind new methods and classes that ends up clouded by technicalities or arbitrary namings. Personally, most internet tutorials/explanations do a pretty bad job at providing a clear explanation of even the simplest methods. Your videos are exceptional. It may have to do with laundry basket. Anyway, thank you. :)

    I don't understand how this is that much easier than adding an actionListener to a button. In fact, I don't see how this GUI has made anything easier. It's just a different way of doing the same old stuff.
    If this thing would allow for inter-field movement, THAT might interest me. But it's SO much like the standard stuff that I have trouble telling the difference.
    If anyone thinks they can convince me otherwise, my mind is completely open to reason. I am perfectly willing to admit that I am wrong if I am wrong.

    You shouldn't handle two(or more) different buttons with the same listener. It would be better to instantiate two(or more) anonymous classes that implements EventHandler like:
    button.setOnAction(new EventHandler () {
    @Override
    public void handle(ActionEvent e) {
    // TO DO
    }
    }

    • @braydencloud8785
      @braydencloud8785 8 років тому +3

      In Java 8 you can do this with lambda:
      button.setOnAction(e -> {
      // code here
      });

    what does "this" refers to in 3:35? like, what is it passing? "button" itself? the "handle" method? or is it calling "handle" using "this" because it is the only handle method that there is so far (if so, how does the compiler know that "this" == "handler"?)? D:
