Great video.. when visiting my wifes family I was wondering what the dynamics of pest hunting in nz. I would love to learn more.. thanks again for the video.
Cheers mate, it’s our first time onto the property. Hopefully we can build an ongoing relationship 👍 It truly is awesome country and the rabbits are incredibly destructive.
@@jarrodlawson6190 I had a rifle chambered in .17 Fireball 10 years ago ; it's brilliantly accurate but I've only put about 400 rounds through it ...hence the itchy trigger finger ... A mate has a CZ 17 Hornet , but we don't get to exercise them much ...
Dialing mate. 300yds is pretty standard distance for the hornet. I’ve taken magpies out to 360yds, hares out to 400yds I’m hand loading which helps a lot. 12.6gr CFEBLK behind a 20gr v-max works a treat. Shooting an Anschutz 👍
Yes I do normally collect them. We have 2 German Shepherds and a Beagle that love them. We didn’t collect all of these as the Station owner wanted to keep the hawk population high to help control them.
so you guys took absolutely no meat off these guys? bit of a waste, wouldn't have exactly been that difficult to pick them all up and throw them in the cooler. Rabbit is great eating, at this point it's replaced any white meat I would have usually bought from the supermarket.
We were specifically told by the station owner to leave them where they lay. Apparently a healthy raptor population is a big part of their pest control. I’m not going to ask permission to shoot a property and then tell the owner how to manage it.
@@jarrodlawson6190 fair enough mate, though I doubt raptors would eating 120 plus rabbits before they rot too much, unless their swamp harrier numbers are exceptionally and abnormally large
That may well be the case. You'll likely know how difficult it can be getting access to good hunting areas so I'm going to follow every instruction to the letter to keep that access.

@@savagedevildog been a while since I’ve done a vid. That was a fun day.
Pest control can be as much fun as big game stuff imo
Awesome shooting & beautiful landscape 👍 more videos please.....

i saw a deer at the top left corner
Great shooting guys 😃.
I've been thinking of getting a 17H myself as I also enjoy reloading.
Would love to see more videos of your trips.
The 17h is a fantastic round for varmint, they are a bit tedious to hand load but some of us like that sort of thing lol
Thanks for your interest 😃
Good job Jarrod 👌Keep up bro , we need more 🐇🐇🐇🐇🐇🐇🐇🐇🐇🐇
Cheers mate. Finding the time to get out is the most difficult thing. It’s a lot of fun when I do though 👍
It's more fun to be doing the shooting, but watching those well executed long shots brings an itch to the finger , and a tear to the eye ...
Cheers mate. It’s been a while since I’ve done a rabbit shoot and I’m keen to get back there.
The 17 hornet is so much fun to shoot 😍

You holding or dialing for those long shots? 290m is a good shot, I havent even tried shooting mine that far yet

Shooting an Anschutz 👍
I'm using the same load in my CZ, not dialing but I do have a B&C reticle so maybe I should start stretching the legs
Some good shots with the Annie 17H 👍 Did she end up recovering the white one. Ive seen and shot the odd black but never seen a white where i hunt
Yep, apparently they had a pet escapee that did a lot of procreation 😃
We shot 2 and saw about 6
what is the name of this airgun?
how long target it gets for rabbits?
This a rabbit hunters dream good shooting 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Would you believe I haven’t got out for another round at the bunnies since this vid. To much other stuff going on unfortunately.
What gun is being used?
17 Hornet 👍
do you collect them and eat them later ? thats a lot of tasty meat out there O.O

if anything most of them would get eaten by feral cats or black gulls,

Is that a pellet gun ?
17 Hornet. It’s a very small center fire chambering.
