I remember being really excited when this episode aired about what the next season would be like after seeing this episode, and then shortly after, reading in the paper that BSG had been cancelled! 😳😭
ME TOO! That was an ABSOLUTE HEART BREAKER! Lots of people were asking why. And worse still was waiting a year for Galactica 1980. Flying Motorcycles, the recycled White uniforms, USAF F-15 Strike Eagles catching Colonial Vipers, Time-Travel, Nazis, and Wolfman Jack destroyed our hopes.....
Glen Larson's son released scripts his dad wrote if there was a second season. It got really dark and gritty for the second season with half the cast axed (similar to changes that were made in Buck Rogers second season). The 10 year old me would not have liked it.
ABC TV gave us something very special...AND THEN TOOK IT! A season two with themes like: the romance between Apollo & Sheba, what became of Caine and the Pegasus, and just & who what was Count Ible and where was he from? Those would have been GREAT stories to follow up on. With the exception of "The return of Starbuck" and "The Night of the Cylons" Galactica 1980 just flat out sucked. At least we have the music to remember the show by.
Tigh... do you realize, this is the first time since we fled the Colonies that we have the advantage? But even if we didn't have the advantage... I'm tired of running. Adama ... so am I. Then let's take them on !
Baltar: "It's the same thing." Adama: "We're going to destroy them." Baltar: "Destroy them? A base star? Unlikely." Adama: "With your help." Baltar: "Why would I possibly help you?" Adama: "To regain your freedom." Baltar (visibly affected): "You're taunting me." Over 44 years ago... and I hope I remembered it correctly. It certainly made an impression!
7:34 Gold Centurion: Have we achieved orbit? Silver Centurion: Ascension ten centons ago. Gold Centurion: Long range scans report? Silver Centurion: Nothing definite to report Gold Centurion: DEFINITE? Silver Centurion: A momentary blip on our scanners as we achieve orbit. They were not fully operational. Gold Centurion: Nothing since? Silver Centurion: No. Gold Centurion: Launch a fighter patrol to the outer reaches of the galaxy just to be sure Silver Centurion: By your command. Duty patrol to the launch bay.
00:01 "There are those who believe that life here began out there, far across the universe, with tribes of humans who may have been the forefathers of the Egyptians, or the Toltecs, or the Mayans. They may have been the architects of the great pyramids, or the lost civilizations of Lemuria or Atlantis. Some believe that there may yet be brothers of man who even now fight to survive far, far away, amongst the stars."
Bearing down three and a half. Forty-seven forward. Fifty down at two and a half. Nineteen forward. A hundred feet, three and a half down. Nine forward. Forty feet down, two and a half. Picking up some dust. Faint shadow. We copy you down, Eagle. Tranquility Base here. The Eagle has landed.
The series finished perfectly with the clear hope that they were on the correct course for Earth. Even now I'm still gutted there wasn't a proper 2nd season.
Somewhere on the internet there are rough scripts for the second season released by Larson's son. Based on what I read there, it's probably best there wasn't a second season. There was a massive shift in tone to the episodes similar to what took place with Buck Rogers first and second season. The show went down a dark path unlike the swashbuckling and fun first season.

Do we have an agreement? Some say the writing of this episode was inane but with the rushed production schedule, it is amazing all coalesced into the final episode of BSG.
There is a short piece of music in (apparently) ever episode, after the main titles/credits, when the show resumed after the first set of commercials and showed secondary credits. Does that little piece have a name?

It was simply too expensive for a weekly TV series in the 70s.

What an amazing score! Unforgettable era!
Yes. It was at that. A good time for us....
Baltar: "They've found you!"
Adama: "We found them."

Tranquility Base here. The Eagle has landed.
Fleeing from the Cylon tyranny, the last Battlestar: Galactica leads a rag-tag fugitive fleet on a lonely quest. A shining planet known as Earth!
Happy 77th Birthday to Richard Hatch (May 21, 2022. Forever Captain Apollo!
Finally a score with the full theme.
most videos are not including the part from 1:42 to 2:19
That part is my favorite!
Fantastic. Thanks for posting.

5:00 the score sounds like something out of Barry Gray's Thunderbirds scores.
9:26 The theme when my pug detected a pizza inbound
Beautiful
5:59 - entire quest of the first season coming to a head as the Vipers are sweeping into what may be our solar system.

Shudup and keep waggling.
