This is why you should never remove rental, shop, or historic stickers from carts. This was brilliant to see.
If only we knew I'm innocent though I never did that shit
Exactly
its amazing to me to see the prices of these games and know i have alot of them in the box in my closet.
Those prices are generally only achievable at shows with quality working copies. Otherwise you can find plenty online, but shipping and lack of ability to check the item comes into play. Most aren't actually worth that much either, it's solely for collectors and retro enthusiasts- many who hoard them to drive up the price and resell.
@@Peaches-i2iNo doubt. Most games people aren’t actively looking for especially at inflated complete prices
He finds the game at 3:49 if anyone is curious
Please note I also did it near the beginning of the video instead of waiting until the very end in hopes people would watch longer.
Thanks, I clicked to see his response.
You can also play soul calibur with the fishing controller! Or as I call it Pole Calibur!
Someone mentioned that as well. Sounds like I should have bought that controller.
Super dope! I can't imagine finding a childhood cart!
Battle of Olympus!!! I've been trying to remember the name of that game for years!
A couple of years ago, I bought a bunch of random master system games from a store an hour away, one was a copy of Monopoly, it was the one that me and my mother rented about 30 years before that, still had the saved game on it
Nes hunting is life!
This is how time travel will actually be invented and figured out and all that shit
Convention/Expo time with John Riggs
I found 2 games at a yardsale with my name written in permanent ink on the back. Mom sold them cheap at a yardsale back in the day 😢
@@topchief1 I'm too old for Woody, lol. She did sell my Thundercats 😑😑😑
Did you buy them back?
@maverick7291 Yes. There were 2 NES games. They weren't anything special, but at the time I was trying to rebuild the collection.
How insane is it that you found them??
I was just so happy when I saw your tweet about it! This is awesome!
Cobra Triangle is one of the best underrated games out there and one of my favourites🤘🏽
Cool, prices seem high though.
That NES Star Trek game is one of my all-time favorites. I rented it so many weekends in a row from one of the two video stores in town (only one copy between the two of them). Then they closed down thanks to Blockbuster moving into the area and the following year I found that cartridge plus several other I had once rented at the local flea market. So when you found that copy of King's Quest V, I knew exactly how you felt.
Oh nice, Arkanoid ! I have that on my Nintendo Wii, it's a game that I never get bored of, and one that I think is a perfect arcade-type game can be turned on and played at ANY time. There's no "ok where did I leave off last time?" 🤔 with the game Arkanoid.
Haha thats amazing. Would love to find games from my local Rent A Flick back in the day, but that's like finding a needle in a haystack.
the person who knocked over that sign... Smh
I know!
I scrolled through the comments just to see if anyone pointed this out…lol
What did the sign ever do to you?!
They legalized hard drugs in Seattle. Signs being knocked over is probably the least of their problems.
Apparently, the barter system doesn't work at food trucks.
@@ZefTillDeath8878No one ever does hard drugs illegally. Nope. Never.
About 20 years ago the apartment I was living in at the time was burglarized while I was at work. I came home from work to find my cat crying and scratching in the hallway closet they shut her in, the rest of the place was trashed with all the drawers pulled out and dumped onto the floors and bed etc. My Xbox and most of my games were also gone. I'd say probably about a year and a half later I was browsing in the video game section of a nearby pawn shop when I spotted what was unmistakably my stolen copy of Azurik. I hated that game, and bought a new coffee table one day but forgot to buy coasters. I just grabbed that game case and used it as a coaster lol. It still had rings on it lol. The pawnbroker told me he acquired the game via sale, not pawn; and had no way of tracing the seller. I'm sure there were other games of mine in there too, but Azurik was the only one that could be confirmed as once belonging to me.
I was shocked to see the Crazy Mike’s sticker because we also had a couple of Crazy Mike’s up here in Canada!
Duds, that's crazy
Congrats Mr Riggs
@6:50 I'm gonna 'do' a Battletoads. As if it could be done by any mortal man hahaha. Bwa, ha ha ha 🐸
Love some King's Quest on the NES
I found my original copy of SMB/duck hunt after my dad and stepmom got a divorce. It was in with old games and systems that my dad left at her house.
@17:18 somebody needs a hug! 😂 happy people aside, it’s incredible you found the game you used to rent! Mind blowing 🤯
The Legend of Zelda manual is probably my all time favorite, the art is amazing. I’d love to get a physical copy of Earthbound because mine was stolen years ago but it’s $500 just for the cart last I checked.
There's NO better feeling then getting a new stack of nes games.
Golgo 13: The Professional is an amazing anime
hardest nes game battletoads for sure
I bet I could beat Battletoads before Adventure Island. Some of those jumps are damn-near impossible.
"laughs in Ninja Gaiden III"
I grew up in Bellevue and Renton. Went to Hazelwood and Hazen. Some of my old gems might be there too
It's always been a dream of mine to find a game I used to rent from my local video rental store. Something that I clearly remember renting like Puss'n Boots or Monter Party. In a weird way, it would be like having a part of my childhood back.
We would use the Dreamcast fishing controller as a handicap when my friends and I would get together and play Soul Calibur. When someone got too good and won 5 consecutive matches, they had to use the fishing controller.
Perfect timing as always.. mowing the same property on the same day same time and I can listen to the riggamortis (sorry I made you a nickname to myself) lol
Wow I forgot about Zodas Revenge. Great game 👍
The odds must be 7 figures that you find that rental copy NES game that you had as a kid!! Very cool find JR!!
I briefly saw a Star Force label in that NES crate when you found your King's Quest. I never got very far playing that as a kid, but it's one of a few seminal games that got me interested in shmups along with Life Force and a SNES port of a game called Xardion.
Your convention videos are my favorite things on UA-cam!
Guerrilla War is a great 2 player game and NO ONE ever talks about it...
My cousin had King's Quest V on a computer.
That's awesome
That's insane that you were able to find that game. So cool!!
I never comment "i literally got chills", but I seriously did. I didn't know you meant THE actual. I've got my library copy of night of the living dummy goosebump, and a David bowie record I used to rent with no record player. But this.. out in the wild??! This is crazy!
Lotta NES goodness there. Nice.
So insane, I picked this video at random to watch and Crazy Mike's was were my mother's water broke before going into labor with me.
I had a similar experience albeit two generations later with GTA2.
Gave a former friend from primary my PS1 copy when my mom got rid of my PlayStation stuff (we were very poor back then). Got it returned like two decades later, so it's mine again 😅
Thats insane! Hopefully you'll play the lottery this week.
so many nostalgic titles for me that dont get mentioned too much i see as you poking around. solar jet man, binoic commando, snake rattle and roll, cobra triangle.. and more. Good ol NES
What cost $1600? There was too much glare to read the label.
"Aero Fighters"
It was driving me crazy until I figured it out...
The captain commando always reminded me of the captain on robotech
Right in my neighborhood and I didn’t know about it.
Way or the warrior is horrible. I waited nearly 30 years to play it after see it in magazines in the 90s. The best part of the entire game is the White Zombie music. And that Turtles 1 handheld! Now that brings back memories. I wish I still had mine 😢
Hey now, 9 year old me would beg to differ. Way of the warrior was terribly awesome, lol
Years ago I bought a nes with games. One was mine. Had my name on it and everything.
I remember getting the longbox Way of the Warrior at PC Richard back in the day when they sold games. The fatalities and graphics were better than Mortal Kombat, and it was loaded with secrets.
i ended up owning a lot of the nes and snes games from my childhood blockbuster after all the stores closed down the older games were super cheap. Wish i'd kept my copy of Earthbound.
here I am living in Rentn' m,y whole life and i never knew this happened...
Random guy knocks over food truck sign. lol
Man that’s cool
If I had the needed coin to buy these NES, SNES cartridge games I'd buy'em all and digitally copy each game for storage and play but I sadly don't have the money for it nor do I know how to digitally rip games for storage and play.
HOW DID I MISS THIS??? I LIVE IN RENTON!!!
I played this, it was a damn good version!
This is awesome like a Lassie movie a dog in his game reunited. I'm going to buy a fresh Combat. Building log cabin with Combat.
That convention is loaded! If I was there I would need my grocery cart because of how much I'll buy lol!🤣 Thanks for sharing your adventures at the convention for us that can't go John!👉🙂👈
Can't believe I missed it. I'm only 20 mins from there
The psp imports were a steal! :0
This is fun as someone not so in the know about NES games aa far as games to check out on a MAME.
My home town. I hope I can make rcr next year
Dude that would be so cool
Great games, my fav you passed over was Guardian War on 3DO.
How fun!
someone was not happy with that sign.
love that you picked up some 3DO games!
My 3d0 just died !!! Get that for me I give up the money let me kno
I think I saw Astyanax.
I'm sure you did. It's pretty common.
The speculative market ruined nes games. Glad i bought all the heavies before everyone decided they wanted to charge $100 for a common game.
Woah I live in Renton n never knew bout this 😭😭😂
Nah, great retro games shouldn't be 100 bucks, IMO. The bad ones should just be less.
I agree there. Quality = price (for the most part)
Renton WA is DSP country.
Nothing you could do........
I was scrolling the comments waiting for someone to mention Phil *wet snort*
no wonder these scalpers sellers are going under. LOL
i was going through boxes of misc electronics at a salvation army and by chance found a laptop i had when i was little, still had my name on the bottom as well as a doodle of exodia. i was pretty confused because i was sure it was thrown away not given away. so i guess someone dug it out of the trash then gave it away years later. anyways it's nothing special just a pentium 2 dell.
Why is this channel so much beter then MJR
MJR acts way too stiff and fake. John and all the other people he features have much better channels and act more genuine.
1:10
And ti think I thought the Game Boy only displayed four shades of green not black and white kool lol
You missed a copy of Culdcept Saga for x360. I just sold a complete ntsc copy for $150
Was this Saturday pre to opening. You bought battletoads before I could 😢
I remember trying out Crystalis after one of your videos talking about it and I thought it was pretty dogshit😂 but I understand that it's an objectively well put together game it just didn't do it for me.
What was the $1600 SNES game? Hagane?
That's wild
Crystalis was Zelda evolved, Weaver dont want to admit it LOL
Sees roommate game 😧 oh boy
I never see anyone talk about Romance of the three kingdoms? Am i the only one who liked that game... or heard of that game?
Omg I live in Seattle… and I never heard of this… dammit!!
Dude! I’m from Yakima too
How is there always so many nes manuals available? And cheap most of the time too.
NES games especially shouldn't be sold for more than $5 regardless of their popularity or "value" people think that the games are worth. That's why buying physically is atrocious anymore. Games get value associated with what people think the games "should be". Collecting in general creates that false inflated value because of that. This is why God doesn't want us to buy things of little value because it gives way to greed.
Yeah naa.
Not sorry but you thrown off Karen vibes.
Dag I live in Federal Way I wish I would have known about this..
Zelda 1 is better than Crystalis just sayin...
That's a tough one!
17:17 what was that about???
I grew up there
"these games should be 100 bucks"
no... no NES game, hell no retro game period should be 60 bucks, let alone 100 -.-
no game should be 100 bucks can we stop geting games just to flip them
Agree, but there’s no standard when you’re doing private sales. Unfortunately the prices go that high or higher because there are people willing to pay it.
You passed up that copy of nobunaugas ambition?😢😊
Kind of wish I had that Commodore 64 when I was a kid. Could have started learning how to program on it and maybe I'd be in a better position now. Then again--- no, total indie developer.
