I cannot believe that I sat through 27:55 minutes video without stopping. Brenda... you're the only UA-camr whose storytelling is so engaging, funny and I will always come back to hear more. Looking forward to the series!
Hey! its actually illegal to rent out your HDB if you have just purchased it - you can only rent out after 5 years of living there yourself... That is why she needs the room to store her belongings in and 'live' there for 2 weeks of the year because if she is caught by government agencies that she is not living there you both can get fined - so the room is a 'proof' that she is living there. I also went to view a newly bought and renovated HDB apartment and it was the same story until I started doing some research on the story she was spinning. Thanks for sharing your experiences! Love your vibe!
Hey Brenda, such an insightful video! Thanks for documenting and sharing your journey. :) I highly recommend the Oxley area. Super charming neighbourhood, right in the heart of the city but you also get to walk around all these walk-up apartments surrounded by greenery. Also sounds like something within your budget!
Hey Brenda, thanks for this very interesting and informative video. I had viewed hundreds of videos and listings on youtube but all these are real estate agents-led videos. It is refreshing to view your videos because it is uniquely a renter's video. Can you kindly do more of these videos. I noticed that within just 5 days, you have already garnered a massive 24k views.....it is a sign that many people are also house hunting and are looking at your videos for tips !
Heheh im excited for this! Im planning to move out by the end of the year and i would love to get some tips from you! I know there’s like so many paperwork to be done if utilities/wifi is not included.
loved the video, thank you for sharing all your tips and putting everything together!! :) will you be doing an apartment tour of your current space and sharing any tips on what to get for first-time homeowners, things you wish you got, etc.? i would love to watch it!
I’m only 5 mins in to the video but I already know this series is going to be sooooo helpful for me! I’ve been considering renting and living independently so this is a good start for me to learn about everything there is to know about housing & renting 🙏🏻
Thank you so much for sharing your apartment hunt with us! It is really helpful and informative. Sadly the new condos are really really bad in terms of design, liveability (can't cook can't hang clothes, poor maintenance and ventilation) cos they are built by private developers, much worst than the equivalent size as compared to HDBs and it's kinda sad 😥😥😥 The older private apartments have so much more character..
Hey Brenda! Loving the series cause I wanna move out too hahaha. Could you share tips on where to start and how you even search for apartments? As you shared most of the HDB ones are so old omg
careful about renting HDBs especially BTOs. they are not allowed to be rented out within 5 years from completion so by law the tenancy contract will be invalid and you could easily find yourself at a disadvantage in many ways
Hey brenda! Any tips on how to ensure your full deposit can be gotten back after you end your lease? And do landlords generally allow drilling of walls? Or will they make u pay for the “damage”
One thing about Singapore apartments and condos is that no privacy...lack of privacy with neighbours staying very close to you. Noisy neighbours everywhere...not safe for girls staying alone. Some girls get stalked.
Hello Brenda, enjoyed this vlog! FTI - the side of Geylang you were on is actually the SUPER SAFE side! The main road you were walking on, beside the construction area actually splits the dodgy areas vs non-dodgy Geylang haha. Also, it gets safer as you move towards Paya Lebar (Kallang side is where the more rabak stuff happens).
@@wordweed No problem! Happy to help :) Have been staying here for my whole life and I love it for the connectivity. The location is unbeatable, and to be honest - the "rabak" areas usually are the safest ones, more cctvs etc haha
That Aljunied house was crazy! Who doesn't make their bed atleast for a viewing. Can understand if owners were at work and not expecting a showing but the agent is bad at his job. He should have made the bed and did a 5 minute pick up.
After comparing with Korean apartments, I feel that Korean apartments are safer. Windows are out of strangers' views. In-house and outdoor cameras and door auto lock added up to safety. Apartment size is bigger and cheaper than Singapore apartment...my opinion.
Hi 5 sista.. i need to move out by end of year but for the life of me i cant find my next place. Agents kept ghosting me and those places i viewed are soooo different from the photos lollll.
Question: If im only moving out mid Jan next year, isit okay if i already start looking at properties now? Like how early is too early? Would agents/landlords turn down my offer as my move in date is next year? Heh thanks a bunch Brenda! :)))
I will soon!! Yes he took another dog’s pork trotter when he went over for a play date and he’s allergic HAHAHA so he’s suffering the consequences for now… but he’ll get better soon! ❤️❤️🥵
APARTMENT HAUNTING IN SINGAPOOR = House of Pain - Jump Around Jump Around Jump A JUMP A AND DI DI WAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAAHAHA WHERE MUSHROOM & FUNGUS CAN FLOURISH IN YOUR TOILET WAHAHAHAHAHA AND YOKAI HIDING BEHIND THE CARPARK WAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA

oh wow!!! thanks for the heads up, I had no idea!
Not entirely true. If you’re working overseas, you can get an exemption to rent it out..
fun!!!! i'm so excited for this series huhu
Best youtuber for SG apartment reviews so far! Watched every second of it! You have a new subscriber! :)
you're such a great storyteller; this was so entertaining. looking forward to part 2!

Lol. Return the house in the original condition and you won't get hit with "damages". Patching the hole cost money too fyi.

Stalked!
No way!
You probably wont care but dont ever get a place with mould or peel offs..for health reasons and fengshui. It's a 'sickness' house.
!!! what's a peel off? like wallpaper? chipping paint?

oooo thank you for letting me know!!! i won't discount potential apartments in the area then!

I was curious to hear the concerns about safety. In my head, all of Singapore is super safe (as an American).
this is so relevant and timely!! :') thanks for sharing your journey~
How do you find places that allow pets?
Hello Brenda! Is your current apartment a HDB or a condo?
Hii what percentage of your salary would you recommend to set aside for rent?
Wow long videos but it was so interesting.. i'm looking for bigger room too. Subscribed!!
Which platform do you usually go to when find apartments for rental?

I think now all new BTOs have the tap above the toilet bowl lolol, but I mean you can always change toilet bowl after 5 years HAHAH
Can’t wait for part 2!
once you move out can you let us know where this apartment is because I have been dying to know I really quite like it LOL
Please post the second part quickly omg I am dying with the cliffhanger….!!!!!! And I can’t help to notice Noodles is rly itchy :(
I will soon!! Yes he took another dog’s pork trotter when he went over for a play date and he’s allergic HAHAHA so he’s suffering the consequences for now… but he’ll get better soon! ❤️❤️🥵
@@wordweed Ahhh I see!!!! Poor boy! Hope he feels better soon. Allergies suck!

Are you paying for the rent alone or shared with your partner?
Right now I’m paying for it alone because my partner doesn’t live with me but if we do move in together she’ll chip in!
@@wordweed Ahh i see! Thanks for the reply!
