I am bingewatching all Ramset videos
The best video that demonstrates clearly how to use this specific tool.
Ýýyýýýýyyýyýýýýyýyujuúúuú
Excluded Ramsey nail guns ,I guessed that you must have various types power tools and ordinary tools to let you easily complete the construction work as fast as possible , it's definitely save a lot of times to hand over your finishing project for the customers. I am really envy you have these type of powerful nail guns. Friend ❕ thanks for posting your instructions of the Ramset nail guns on UA-cam channel.
Perfect, exactly what I was looking for.
Thank you so much for this video I was very nervous about using this tool. You displaying the simiplicity of its use gave me the confidence I needed to complete my project.
My first day working construction as a sheet rocker at age 18 I was handed one of these bad boys expect more heavy duty and looked like a actual gun, didn’t know they existed till then boy are they cool
How are these compared to the old guns? Do they get the job done or would you recommend a more industrial gun...? I'm not familiar with the newer ramsets.
Previous owner shot a couple of those for the basement ceiling fan casing. Man...that was a pain in the ass to remove!
This video discusses one of the most used tools in basement finishing called the Ramset.
You kissed this tool at the beginning and I wondered if it was that great of a tool to warrant it. Then I watched the rest of your video and you proved it! Yep, gonna get one now. I believe this will be perfect for container building, fastening wood to the interior and exterior of the metal walls.
Thanks for the video!
My favorite tool of all!
Eddie
puts the load in the hole
Professionally Explained ,Thank You
You are welcome!
I didn’t realize that you can nail right to the steel post. Thanks
Just picked one up from newegg for $74. Very useful
Love these gun's! I use mine so much, it's ridiculous how much easier they make the job!
Eddie
These are great tools to have. I haven't achieved that station in life yet to afford the pistol version. Still gotta swing a hammer with mine. Oh well. Just an excuse for another trip to the Depot....haha
Just a note: I would suggest clarifying which loads are best for whatever medium the user may be attacking on their job. As always, great video. I just ran through your 4 part series on bathroom tiling. Keep em' coming!
Thanks Johnny! WE only use the Yellow # 4 load....The others just do not pack enough power for concrete and steel applications! Appreciate the views and the comment my brother.
Eddie
I hope after four years you found the extra $100 or so laying around, Johnny!
I wonder if there is a 50 cal version of this
I need a fully automatic .45 version... for stubborn walls
there is. its great for shooting nails through the wood, concrete, drywall, the fence, and your neighbors wall in one pull of the trigger
Dank Fish That fish is pretty Dank, honestly
Another great video. Just one question: Does firing nails into the steel support beam affect its structural integrity in any way (especially if your firing 3 or 4 of these from top to bottom)? Thanks for your great work!
Thanks Lorne! Not at all! The hole is immediately filled with the nail which is so tight it replaces the integrity.
Eddie
Cool! I didn’t know you could shoot through steel column.
The ringing never goes away no matter how many ear plugs you wear lol
Seems like it would take you some time to load that bad boy up every single shot. The company I work for has the hilti dx460 which is an automatic version of this. I can crank out 10 shots in a few seconds and have it reloaded faster then it takes you do reload 1 shot. Costs more but is 10x faster imo
Cost 4x's the price of this gun...But Hilti is the BEST for sure...just not practical for most homeowners looking to do the project once-n-done. Thanks for commenting Ray.
Eddie
💥💥 2:19 “Stick your load in the hole there”. A UA-cam first. It’s the first time that more girls than guys are watching a contractor tool review. 🚀🧨
concise and informative. well done.
glad I found you. currently $89 at HD.
That's a good deal brother!
Eddie you have been so helpful. I was hoping you could help me understand something...When installing the sleepers around the perimeter of the room ( and then the others across the room 16 on center) everyone says leave a 1/4 in gap from wall for expansion and a 1/2 inch gap for the T & G plywood around the edges for expansion as well, my question is wont this gap let cold air in the room from the bottom of the exterior walls? I am insulating because it is freezing cold in our concrete slab addition the was on our house when we bought it. leaving a space for cold air to get through seems to defeat the purpose. what am I missing?thanks so much in advance
i have used this thing before and this has some kick to it when you fire!
Fire in the hole!
Really helpful and helped me make the right decision
Great video. What about if you may need to remove wood from concrete later? I experimenting with various projects that may need to have the wood changed if it doesn't work for me.Will the gun allow for that? I know at least I could always unscrew the Tapcons, but was just curious.
great - thats exactly what i needed to see - thank you
Your welcome George...good luck with your project.
Eddie
Thanks
Thanks for your quick reply, Eddie. I've got to say that your videos are arguably the best on UA-cam in terms of the amount of detail and clarity. I'm in Montreal and can get the Ramset .22 at Home Depot here but it's a lot more expensive than the US (even with the currency exchange). I might head down to Malone, NY and get one there (unless the border guards consider it a firearm!!). If you'll allow me one more question: I'm wondering what you believe is the best type of insulation to use for basement walls, especially for cold winter climates like mine? I'm not sure if there are any "code" considerations regarding insulation, but I'll look into it once I get your thoughts. Please keep up the fantastic work and thanks for sharing your expertise!
What would you do if you needed to remove a bottom plate after being attached to the floor?
Thank you for posting this video very helpful! Only issue I have right now is I can't get shell removed from Ramset gun. Can you please post on how to remove shell???
Great video! Thank you! I just bought one of these and was looking for additional instructions. I'll look through your other videos too, but how many nails do we need to secure framing to a basement floor? Like 1 or 2 for every 16 inch span?
One like every 4' is perfect. I have a lot of videos on the channel where we use this tool. Thanks for watching Kelsey! ~Eddie
@@BasementFinishingMan oh nice! Good to know! That's way better! And omg that thing kicks! I have the trigger activated hand held one where you have to push down on the top/back of it.
Follow up my hand is a giant bruise today! The extra $50 or whatever probably would have been worth it to get the gun configuration one. 😂🤣
Thank you again Eddie! I look forward to watching more of your videos for my projects!
Great instructional, thank you!
Thanks for the video! I just purchased one of these from HD.
he kissed his tool, lol.
You should have discussed the various loads & their applications.
Hi... your video is helpful... even though I'm trying to remove the framing from the basement walls and floor! I'm pretty sure the folks who built it used Ramset fasteners. Do you think I can just slice through them with a reciprocating hacksaw? I'd like to remove the whole frame in sections and then reuse it after some repairs are done to the walls. Thanks
QUESTION: I need to add a wall to a custom shower(turns out I should of hired someone lol) I'd really rather not have to drill holes with masonary bits because that is a pain! Would this work on tile to seat a wall bracket for a 2x4? it doesn't matter if I crack the tile because it will be sealed and covered with a wall. Thanks for the advice.
In my garage, pegboards were attached to cinder block with 2 x 4 furring strips and ramset nails with washers. I have a leak in in the cinder block mortar behind the furring strip. Even though there are not many, I do NOT want to remove the ramset nails from the wall for fear of damage to the cinder block. I reason if I could cut the head off the ramset nail, I could gently pry the furring strip from the wall, do the work I have to do to seal the leak, then align and slide the furring strip back over the headless nails. To finish the job, I'd drive in new ramset nails with washers in a different spots to refasten it.
My question is: the ramset nail heads and washers are fastened very tightly to the wooden furring strip boards. What would be the best way (tools, methods, type of blade, etc.) to cut the ramset nail head off? I reason if I can get the head off, the washer behind it can easily be removed and then I can gently pry off the wooden furring strip.
Is this a good idea? If not, any suggestions would be appreciated.
I have to get at that leak! lol
Thanks for any advice!
Those heads are hard to cut off...the pins are hardened steep that does not cut easily even with a metal reciprocating saw blade.Just pry the furring broad off with a pry bar fix the leak. Use some masonry damproof mix to waterproof the leak you got and then just reattach the old furring strip beside the old location. You'll probably never get those old nails out without removing the furring 1st. To get the old ramset nails out of the way I just hit them back and forth with my hammer until they snap off. Hope this helps.
Eddie
Thanks for the quick reply! How about cutting with an angle grinder and a cutoff wheel?
Very useful, thank u.
Would you use this for attaching stringers to the concrete walls
Hypothetically could someone use this for discrete assassinations?
the guy at home depot suggested using a 27 caliber ramset to adhere 2x4' s (on their flat side) We are insulating a concrete slab floor from the 80's by building the floor up with 2x4's and rigid insulation then plywood then hardwoods ) . I noticed you used the less expensive 22. would this work as well for this as the 27? the cost savings is a big deal.
+Patricia Steele no need for the $200.00 Remington 27 caliber gun for basement remodeling...the 22 caliber Ramset with yellow load will get it done for 1/2 the cost. The 27 caliber gun is a nice, ...but unless your a contractor who is going to be using this gun over and over on many jobs, I think your paying for something you do not really need.
Eddie
Great job!
Thanks Bryan! Appreciate the views brother. Good luck with your own projects!
Eddie
Thank you
Thank you very much your video is very helpful
Is this the best way to attached 1 1/2" XPS foam boards to concrete walls?
Thanks for the demonstration.
Question: Doesn’t it just seem so tedious and time-consuming to have to reload both the charge and the nail every time? Do you find that this tool actually speeds-up your work, despite having to repeatedly reload for every nail?
It may look tedious and time consuming, but it is easily 50 times, maybe even 100 times easier and faster than the alternative. The alternative is pre-drilling your wood and concrete or other surface, then inserting your tapcon or other anchor and hammering the nail repeatedly to complete the anchor. The ramset is now my number 1 go-to for concrete anchoring. You literally save several minutes on each anchor. That really adds up on a big job. I speak from experience.
There’s a version that allows you to put a “clip” and you have manually load the nails in the front
Hey, would a mastershot work on a condo concrete wall that has a 1/2 " drywall on top. Looking to secure 2×4 for a diy fireplace media wall.
soon many handling issues in this video, be more careful with the barrel once loaded, even if it has security measures but you never know! be safe :)
Exactly!
As a gun guy, this was hard to watch. This is like watching some kid run with scissors or someone lean too far at the top of an extension ladder. As penance for watching this and to ensure we don’t propagate the bad habits in this video, we should all recite the 4 rules of gun safety aloud.
@@raywhite8122 rewatching the video I'm not sure what the hell i was talking about other than maybe aiming it at the camera and himself?
Excelente explicación. Gracias
I’m trying to nail 3/4” u brackets to hold pvc can I get a nail with out a washer
That little gun can rip a lock open
What spacing do you use between the nails when fastening a sill plate to a concrete floor?
About every 32" we put a fastener Alex.
Eddie
This is why I always stroll through questions, before posting my own. This is exactly what I needed to know.
Thanks Crazy Eddie!
Hi Eddie, great video, those 2 1/2" nails are they ramset 1516's? and if so why do you prefer those to the washered 2 1/2" nail?
Does the ram set cause stress fractures in the concrete over time from the high velocity nail going into it?
Wonder how much force this gun uses compared to guns that kill cows for slaughter?
Thanks! I'm buying one from HD Supply solutions, but I need to install hooks on concrete, so I need concrete pins with threads. Can this gun shoot that kind? Can you point me in the right direction? Thanks again.
Julio C Solar -- You need a hammer drill w/concrete bit, then insert a Hilti anchor. They make all sorts, including a female threaded sleeve into which you can insert a threaded rod or hook.
How do you remove a floor plate that has been fastened by a ram set? I framed a wall, ram set but need to move it
use a cats-paw nail puller or a large prey bar...this will get that bottom plate back up and off the floor!
Eddie
I removed walls in my basement, and I have double threaded pins or bolts left over from pulling up the baseboards, so theres no heads on them, will the cats-paw nailer work for this also?
ive been using the cheap 25 buck one but the nails dont go all the way in : on a 21/2 inch nail , about 1/2 in is left out : why? Is this tool more powerful ?
What do you do when the concrete just chips out when you try to attach a 2x4 ? Does that mean the concrete is too hard?
Hello John!
We use some liquid nails adhesive on the back of the 2" x 4"'s when this happens and occasionally we need to use a different fastener type called "Tapcon" screws that require a hole to be drilled first in the concrete and then a Tapcon fastener is inserted and screwed into the pre-drilled hole which holds incredibly well...but this technique is rarely needed! Usually all that's needed is a larger "Load" in our Ramset gun and this usually gets it done. Also make sure your gun is perfectly straight with the wall or floor before firing the gun...if your gun is on even a slight angle it can blow-out the concrete like you're experiencing.
Eddie
Basement Finishing Man thank you.
You're welcome John!
where i can buy ramset caliber 22 nail gun
Can the Ramset be used to attach the top plate to a metal I-beam? The wall I want to build runs right underneath it the length of the basement. If not what's the best way to accomplish this?
Yes! Use hardened steel fastening 2" pins and wear your safety glasses and hearing protection! These gus will fasten to solid steel beams ...no problem!
Eddie
Can this be done with ONE hand? Thanks.
Yes...of course.
I can have 1 but still broken we're is the repair shop
Please
What color load do you use to attach 2 X 4' to a concrete floor in the garage?
Concrete surfaces and 2" x 4" thickness lumber fastening is most always going to be the #4 Yellow load and 2 1/2" fastening pins in your Ramset gun.
Eddie
Will this work for mounting garage shelves on poured 8 in. thick concrete walls?
You must first fasten treated 2" x 4" lumber to the 8" concrete walls with this tool then mount the shelves to the treated wood. Not recommended for shooting the metal shelving directly to the concrete wall!
Eddie
Basement Finishing Man Understood on the wood runner. My main concern was if it will hold the weight without pulling out of the wall. I like the idea of just shooting it instead of drilling and wall anchors.
i know this is an old video but im doing a job for someone i want to fasten furring strips into a concrete wall will this shoot through the strip without splitting it and what size nail would you use for this a 3/4 in foam pad is getting glued to the wall first then im fastening the furring strips 2 ft on center thanks just a laundry/utility room
2" nails...and I would buy 3/4" x 3" or 3.5" treated lumber for this project...not regular pine furring strips. no it should not split...
@@BasementFinishingMan so something alittle thicker and pressure treated it is going over a foam pad so figured could just use reg dimensional lumber
@@robre6840 If it were me I would fasten the treated 1st every 16" and insert the Styrofoam in-between the new 3/4" boards. I would not install the lumber over the Styrofoam...bad idea.
@@BasementFinishingMan there’s some areas that have the foam glued to the concrete already guess could just cut it and attach the wood to it. Why would you not go over the foam with the boards?
Wood to masonry...not wood to Styrofoam...it's an unstable backer for attachment of the framing and then drywall.
It just shoots a smooth nail? I would think I could pull out of concrete pretty easy
You'd think so but you'd be wrong.
Put his hand infront of the barrel and muzzle sweeped his camera man 😮
ty
Very good video. I am looking to frame out a new basement and have looked into the tool. Where do you get the silenced model for the price you mention in the video? the one I looked at is approximately $ 216.00.
Hi Sam! Here is the link to the product at Home Depot...thanks for watching! >>>>> www.homedepot.com/p/Ramset-MasterShot-0-22-Caliber-Powder-Actuated-Tool-40088/202046595
Eddie
One more question, all the stuff I see says to use pressure treated wood to raise our very cold concrete slab and insulate with rigid insulation then lay 3/4 plywood then hardwoods. When I went to Order materials the guy at Home Depot said if it was interior not use pressure treated because of dangerous fumes over time. What kind of wood would you suggest?
+Patricia Steele That's a new one if I heard one...lol. I would still use pressure treated wood it's safe...next they will be telling you that mothers milk causes cancer.
Eddie
Would you recommend using this to attach steel track to a concrete floor when framing with steel studs?
That’s exactly how it’s supposed to be done
how far apart should i have my spacing when framing a ceiling with galvanize steel using that tool
jr walters every 16” if it were me doing the ceiling!
Eddie
Eddie - Great video! I just bought this gun. I need to attach a bunch of 2x4 furring strips to the concrete block foundation to prepare for sheetrock. Would you recommend using the Ramset gun for attaching 2x4 furring strips to concrete block walls? Or would you recommend Tapcon concrete screws instead?
+bobthetrooper7 Use the Ramset with 1.5" fasteners and use liquid nails as well on each strip for extra hold!
Eddie
+Basement Finishing Man thanks Eddie! You believe 1.5" fasteners are long enough to go through a 2x4 turned on its side and still adhere it to the block?
NO! 2" x 4"'s require 2.5" long fastening pins not 1.5". You use 1.5 for 3/4" thick lathe only.
Eddie
How do you remove them?
Cut them off with angle grinder or other tool. If you pull them out they will take a chunk of concrete with it.
yes does not matter treated 2x4,s to concrete basement floor
The Ramset tool...is made by...RAMSET!!!!
2:19 thats what she said
sir when loading shot does it go in all the way?
+chamoco1 Some models it will not go in the whole way until you begin to close the barrel around the load. On other models it does. It depends on your gun.
Eddie
IT'S A SUPRESSOR
who cares
Let there be Tapcons.
Nails something to a pipe..."You're never getting this off." Oook then.
nodak1999 that’s not a pipe. Not even close to one. Think before commenting, thanks.
Hey I'm here again. I got a new problem to my Ramset Mastershot. well my biggest problem was, there is no available .22 caliber power loads for my ramset at the market here in our country. the only available was a .27 caliber power loads. because lots of folks here who's using a powder actuated tools are all .27 calibers. thats why in our markets all of the available power loads are .27 caliber only. no 22 and son and so for. thats why I'm planning to convert my ramset mastershot into a .27 caliber gun by changing the breech plug of it. now i need your opinion. i already checked in into an gunsmith expert and he said that its possible to do that. what do you say about this?
+Genesis Regala Never modify a firearm to a larger caliber load unless the manufacturer says you can do this safely. I'm pretty sure Ramset or Remington does not approve of this. It can be very dangerous and could cause bodily harm if the firearm malfunction's during operation!
My advise is buy a new 27 caliber Ramset or continue looking for 22 caliber load.
Eddie
oh thanks for the advice
The equalizer brought me here.
Also used for putting a cow down before butcher
Lets hope john wick never gets his hands on one with these.
nail spacing???????
Every 4' as the norm, Double up on the bottom plate on each side of any door openings!
Eddie
Is that real...
can i use the load of reminton ramset 27 to a mastershot ramset 22?
+Genesis Regala No! 27 caliber is only for 27 caliber guns and will not even chamber in a 22 gun.
Eddie
hmmm so the size is the problem why i cannot use a 27 cal load for a mastershot ramset. thanks by the way. I just confuse about the color coding of the loads even though the sizes are not the same
Red is the highest power, then yellow, then green then brown being the lowest.
Eddie
oh ok.. thanks
+Genesis Regala Sure...good luck with your project.
Eddie
At 3:16 he points the gun directly to camera man. Looks like some gun safety rules needed here: no matter how safe gun is, never point to someone (unless you definitely need to).
Yyyyyyyyy fugitive
That pole is not solid man.
i DIDN'T MEAN SOLID THE WHOLE WAY THROUGH THE ENTIRE 3" COLUMN! I WAS IMPLYING THAT THE SURFACE OF THE POLE IS SOLID STEEL! SORRY IF I MISLED YOU!~...BUT IT'S STILL PRETTY AMAZING THAT IT CAN SHOOT THROUGH 1/4" OF STEEL!
Eddie
Spear gun?!?
Solid? I think not..
They are blanks
You Americans love 2x4 if you build outa bricks then when it gets windy your house doesn’t blow away.
It’s not a solid piece of steel....
The Ramset is a crap quality tool! Go with Hilti anyday
Your not years ago old!!!
this is so american.
Very informative. Safety must be top of mind at all times though. In this video the loaded device was aimed directly at the camera person while a finger was on the trigger. This tool should be shown the same level of respect as a loaded firearm, regardless of how many safety switches are built in.
That said, this tool does seem useful. Drilling into hard concrete is the worst. 🫨
