don't downplay your merchandise!!! if you aren't excited about your stuff, it isn't motivating for viewers to go to your etsy and shop. Nobody wants something that not even the seller wants. Your stuff is great, give it the place that it deserves. Like i know this is your vlog and all but keep in mind is also an advertisement platform for your business.

Thank you for this feedback! I definitely agree, i feel like in vlogs i’m more worried about being myself and authentic and when it comes to these moments i forget to turn on the marketing side of my brain. But i will say, i really don’t think i was particularly negative! I would genuinely love feedback about specific things i said or did that gave that impression!!

I can't speak for OP, but imo it was wording stuff like "get rid of" stock and "I don't think/I doubt it will sell". 😊
@@samevans1289 I agree I mean I’m not blaming the creator or anything but yeah they did overall seem negative in this with things like saying
“This vlog might be boring, probably hopefully not.”
And “I’m looking for an excuse to not do this anymore.”
Or like “wasted some time sketching.”
Obviously if they don’t wanna do these fairs anymore they don’t have to I can 100% support and understand if it’s too much for them or not their thing
But I can also see how a lot of this vlog is them expressing their negative experience and thus coming off as if their downplaying or speaking negatively toward their art/vids etc which could make others less hyped for their product bc their not/or they feel unsatisfied with it or whatever.
I’d say if they wanna continue selling products in a less stressful manner maybe doing so online, as that requires less prep and effort.
Also also it’s 100% valid for them to feel badly about their experience and all that, of course.
I found galleries to be more sucessful than markets in the small period of time that I did them. With galleries, people are there to see YOU, (or the the other featured artisits if there is multiple galleries). Its easier to set up and sell all kinds of merch, because they're kinda like a mini gift shop.
Markets are so hit or miss, there are so many different audiences, so you never know who or what you're expecting. The stuff I was able to sell at markets were mainly stickers, and they were mainly stickers, and the sillier ones sold better than the ones of my own art.
Another thing with markets, is that there are so many other vendors, so people have limited budgets, whereas with galleries, people may still have budgets, but there is less merch for them to look at and may feel less overwhelming, which hopefully means they might buy something.
I hope you are able to find galleries that interests you, and I hope it is sucessful for you!
A fellow Floridian artist!! GURL I know it do be HAWT in these Florida art festivals. I have never sold any art in an art festival. I haven't really found one worth the effort.
I don't blame you for being sick of art markets. With the economy being the way it is, I've heard they've gotten worse.
I feel you about the market…I had one last week and while it turned out okay, I felt like it didn’t meet my expectations. Plus, there were AI “artists” right across from me! I’ve been super bummed about that and have been meaning to write to the organizers about it, but haven’t even known where to start. It’s not a big deal that I didn’t break even…but it was frustrating to feel like my work was being devalued compared to those who didn’t even put in half the effort.

I'm sorry to hear about your experience with markets. If you ever get the bug to do markets again The Indie Flea at The Factory in St. Petersburg was absolutely packed today. To be fair, even at that event there was a pocket tucked away with less foot traffic. I enjoy your doodly videos they're super chill and fun to watch!
This year has been a really rough one for markets! After March, sales all dropped like crazy for myself and almost everyone I know. Hopefully, next year will be more successful. With that said, I think that they have become so over-saturated and trendy, people just don't come out as much as they did :(
