I just hope the blue exodus doesn't contaminate Idaho like it has Texas, Tennessee and Florida. They leave their state because it's political policies make it impossible to survive then move to a red state and vote Democrat again not understanding why they had to move in the first place.

When I renewed my CCP in Washington the renewal notice stated that 79% of gun deaths in the state are either suicides or accidental discharges. Last time I looked, America's suicide rate was within 1 point of Japan's, 17 vs 16 per 100,000. In Japan, virtually no citizens own guns. For actual Gun Rights and Gun Freedoms - Yes . Idaho is very good . ( For now any way . But the population is low enough, that it won't take very many California / Seattle/ Portland escapee/ retirees to start switching part of the state purple .)

Nowadays if you open carry some California transplant may call the cops with some ridiculous claims about you. We used to have signs and bumper stickers in the 60s and 70s that said, Don't Cailfornicate Oregon. The governor, Tom McCall, invited tourist from California to visit but not stay. That was for real! Bought a Mobile home and needed a place to park it. Well WA was the only place I could find a lot. Gun laws were on par with Idaho just a little extra paper work for a hand gun. By 2019 the laws on guns got libtarded so by 2023 could not stand it and I move back into my mom's place. I had to be her care giver anyway so I got out of WA. People who have not lived behind enemy lines don't understand what it is like to be a patriot, libertarian, pro 2a person who votes red in these states. They assume we all voted for the crap we live under. The people in Idaho deserve joe biden since they must have voted for him.......right? No, you mean they didn't vote for him and yet still are stuck living under his rule? That is what it is like living in komnifornia. I do agree when they say not to vote liberal or like a "typical californian" when they do make it to a better state. At this point CA is a lost cause and we will be lucky if our nation isn't already a lost cause with how fast it is circling the drain. There are many people here who are into the shooting sports and who value freedom but most of the country just lumps everyone together as liberals when the elections and laws go that way for the state as a whole. If it wasn't for the laws and huge number of foreign people who live like this is some other country, it would be a nice place to live. When English is no longer the primary language while in many public places and the laws seem no better than a 3rd world country, it is easy to feel like this isn't even the USA any longer.

I am one who moved from Khaliforniastan to Idaho a bit more than 6 years ago with my kids and grandkids. The main reason to move was that we home school and Khaliforniastan hates home schooling but in Idaho it's a state constitutional right.
When we go here, I got a job as a public school bus driver. One day I walked past the car of a fellow driver talking with another driver with his trunk wide open. In the trunk were probably at least 30 different styles of pistols and rifles which the guy had. Lots of others walked by as well and no one cared.
The other thing which happened is that in the fall it was an election year. I was REQUIED to show ID to get a ballot (paper) and after filling it out was REQUIRED a second time to show my ID before putting it in the box. And oh, yes, a visit to DMV generally took about 20 minutes, not 20 hours.
I love the freedom in Idaho, but that is under attack in Boise, in the legislature, Boise State College and by the Mayor of Boise, a supposedly avowed Marxist. We'll probably outlast the coastal states on both sides, but even in my own short duration here, the culture is definitely changing fast with influxes from the LA and SF areas. It saddens me greatly and I can understand why such people are deeply resented by many natives. It's exactly what I saw happen to the old California of my youth in a takeover by those on the East Coast...

Do that in California and your ass is going to jail. What's wrong with that picture...
Now purchasing a firearm in California is a fucking joke. Now as of January 1st, 2024, you are now required to be audio and video recorded when you are filling out the paperwork.
To top it off, it takes literally 35-45 minutes to get the paperwork done because they're either too slow and BSing with other folks there.
Now I get it they're being extra careful due to government overwatch and FFL's are just trying to make sure the paperwork is done correctly.

Can you imagine having to refill every case, every morning? And if you think about it, they're required to have cameras recording the cases. I live in North Idaho and we get crime spill from Washington. This really had an uptick during the Plandemic because Idaho was open and Washington business were locked down. It got so bad that bars and restaurants in down town Coeur d'Alene started only serving Idaho residents for a few days until the city government, full of ex-Californians btw, threatened to pull their business licenses. Around the same time there was a shoot out at a local park by Washington residents shooting at other Washington residents over a drug deal. A popular shooting area in the forest near Hayden Lake is generally occupied by Washington plated vehicles because Washington is a police state, especially when it comes to guns. We don't mind them shooting here but these people tend to take trash out to shoot and leave it behind when they leave. I almost never shoot there, but when I do I always leave with a few trash bags full of the discarded trash of others, including Idahoans; this pisses me off. Idaho is nice because we vote conservative and the church benches are full. If you don't see your friends at church it's because they are hunting, fishing, or off-roading. If you don't like waving at strangers or knowing all of your neighbors Idaho isn't for you. If it makes you nervous to see firearms openly carried in the stores and restaurants, just know that there were ten you never saw because they were concealed carried. You must be fingerprinted and photographed for a criminal background check and affirm by affidavit your mental health and lack of drug or alcohol addiction or criminal background. You authorize release of your medical history and give the name and address of your doctor. Your doctor is required to release any mental health information pertinent to your acquiring firearms. This process takes 14 days. Only after that passes can you then go to our local FFL and do the NICS background check and then make the purchase. Within 5 days we much register the firearm. If this is for multiple handguns, the process is repeated for each!

Stop calling the cops because someone is carrying a firearm during hunting season (or any other time). Stop moving to a small town and then try to make it a big town. You want to move here because we are free and because Idaho has charming small towns. Don't ruin that.

I grew up in the 50's & 60's in Texas. My mother had a small ranch south of Texas A&M. At that time, virtually every pick-up truck in Texas had a gun rack in the back window. It was normal for people to have at least a shotgun & a .22 rifle with them for hunting birds & rabbits, etc. Looking back, I remember taking guns to school to go hunting after class. I tell people from other states, I have lived in Id. for 25 yrs., that while Id. is a constitutional carry state I don't feel that I have to carry for self defense.

You've talked about 2nd Amendment and firearms ownership in Idaho during previous videos, but in this video you answered a number of questions I had about carrying firearms, buying and selling firearms, and hunting. 👍👍👍 When I was younger, I used to small game hunt in California's Central Valley. I haven't done that in many years, but I'd like to do it in Idaho, and I'd like to hunt big game for the first time. It's the same for fishing. Would you please tell me if Idaho has any restrictions on lead shot in shotgun shells? California requires the use of steel shot when hunting wildlife. By the way, a person isn't allowed to bring a firearm in a Costco store in the city where I live in California. I understand this is a nationwide policy for Costco, so they must have waived it in Idaho. 🤔

My brother works at wallmart and he sees people open carrieing all the time, hand guns that is. As someone who lives in California, I have the privilege of living in one of the most beautiful geographically diverse states in the union. It also has one of the most politically corrupt and oppressive governments in the union. There are a lot of good Americans here. Most of the counties are red. And most of those who live in these counties are constitution loving, law abiding citizens. The ones with the means to leave do so as soon as possible. There are definitely some turds running from the politics they voted for, but most are retired law enforcement, small business owners and regular people fleeing the dumpster fire they didn’t start, and were powerless to stop. So be kind to them and keep an open heart. They are refugees, forced to flee the homes they once loved. Those of us who are still here, we continue to fight, though we are mostly broken and feel hopeless. So be thankful for what you have. And hold on to it with unwavering ferocity. Because the poison which has infected California, is coming for you next.

Many stores were simply reverting to the 3-day loophole and releasing the guns after 3 days even w/o a response to the BGC of a yes/no. But many big-box stores refused to do that and would only release the gun with an OK BGC response, which resulted in many people waiting for weeks.

After I moved here from CA, I went through the Enhanced Concealed Carry course and got my Enhanced CC permit. I did it for reciprocity with other states that might travel to that reciprocate with this permit as well as eliminating any background checks while purchasing firearms. Works well.
I think your assessment of gun ownership is pretty accurate. When I first moved here I decided I liked a piece of property, but wanted to understand more about flood plain issues and decided I would go down to the Army Corps of Engineers office and learn more about the area from a flooding perspective. My realtor asked if he could tag along and I said, "sure". When we pulled up in front of the federal building where the ACoE's offices were located, my realtor said, "would you mind if I stored my gun in your truck? It is illegal to carry it in a federal building." I was pretty surprised, here is a businessman out on a trip with his client and he was still carrying, I really respected that, every day no matter what.

This alone will show how different things are in that state.
I grew up in Boise (late 70s early 80s), and as part of Junior High one of the required classes was a gun safety class. Which I think is a good thing, as being taught how to be safe around guns would prevent a lot of accidents.
And when I was at Boise High I was in ROTC. And as part of the drill team, I had an actual M1903 issues to me as a drill rifle. I would take it home on the city bus, drive around town on my motorcycle with it, and even stop at the bank. And nobody gave it a second glance, the only thing the guard wanted to know is that it was unloaded (it was demiliarized and could not fire). We also had a rifle range in the basement of the school, and we would even bring real rifles in and it was actually a recognized sport.
Is so unlike how things are in states like California.
