Some of the best managers didn't have great playing careers. It doesn't limit your understanding of the game because you don't have the same physical and technical ability as an elite player. Same goes for any sport, many elite boxing trainers were not good boxers. By his logic that means that only the best players can be managers and have success in football post-playing career. We have seen that often doesn't work out.
