The language allowed her to know the future. LOVE your reactions. This Film is about so much more than an alien encounter
SO much more!
"It (language) is the first weapon drawn in a conflict". Quoted from her book near the beginning of the film.
Louise has weapon.
Prisoners (2013)
same director as Arrival and Sicario
Denis Villeneuve never fails
Not a single miss, not even close
It is worth rewatching to see how they it fits together. Free the opening, showing her daughter's life, she narrates about beginnings, and the rest of the movie is told as a flashback before the daughter.
She's living her life out of order - she's not seeing the future, she's living it.
And if we think about it, our time and our time together is finite. It always ends. The journey is all there is. We can be sad about it or, like Louise, we can embrace it.
She knew it was safe to take off her suit because their 'canary in a coal mine' was perfectly fine
This reminds me of that line from Blade Runner: “Too bad she won’t live. But then again, who does?”
Life, long or short, is an opportunity we get once in eternity.
36:00 Yes. All the saddest and all the most hopeful things tied together. This is truly one of the most beautiful heart wrenching movies ever made in my opinion.
It's such an AMAAAAZING film. One of my all-time favorites. Since Louise KNEW her child BEFORE she was born, she couldn't imagine NOT having her, despite Hannah's short life span. She loved her daughter before. Living every moment overcame her pain at the end. The title of this film was as much for the ARRIVAL of Hannah, as it was for the arrival of the aliens. Both were vital in this story.
Since you loved this film... some other films you will love: "PLEASANTVILLE," "STRANGER THAN FICTION," "CHILDREN OF MEN," "GRAVITY," "HIDDEN FIGURES," and "ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND." All of them are beautifully acted, with fantastic writing, directing, cinematography. Once you see any of these films, you'll never forget them. Great reaction and thoughts... Cheers!
absolutely ♥ every second of this movie! One of the best films of the millennium! 🙂
So sweet how you get goosebumps and teary over the bittersweet romance ❤
Anyone who doesn't cry near the end of this film has no soul.
i never really cry at any movie/show, i can count on my fingers
but this right here i teared up, even me, little water in my eyes, not running down my face but it still got me, it says a lot🥹
Imma need you to keep them reactions going often lol. You’ve been picking bangers lately.
I'm so amazed we got this and interstellar so close to each other.
6:10 [language] is the first *weapon* drawn in a conflict
22:54 "Offer weapon"
I love how you picked up at the start something I did, I knew something was wrong, but not what, but was like, "You tell them your going through issues of losing your daughter they would understand.
14:42. At that moment (like all of us did when we saw this movie the first time) kangaroo didnt really mean that. That look on your face was just like i did when i found out kangaroo didnt man that. It almost made me mad because i fell for it
And im sure i wasn't the only one that fell for it
Love your Content,,,(KEEP DOING YOUR THING)💞💞💞
35:44 I waited for that the whole time 😅
My favourite movie, really liked your reaction! Villeneuve is the best director out there
10:58 The bird is there to indicate whether or not the air is safe. If the air became dangerous, the bird would be affected first and they will know to leave. They can't use devices to test air quality because they will only test for terrestrially known pollutants and issues. Any toxins of an extraterrestrial nature would be missed and they would be in danger. But an unknown danger would harm the bird even if it's unknown. Thus the bird - a biological indicator - is the best sensor.
Birds were used by coal miners to indicate the safety of the air deep down in the mines. This is where the expression "canary in the coal mine comes from". It was a literal thing.
When I see her daughter skipping at the end, it is always emotionally powerful and breaks me down.
The implication of the aliens perceiving time in a non-linear way is that Abbott must have likewise known that he/it would die in the explosion but came on the mission anyway. It's not just Louise embracing the known unpleasantries of the future.
Good reactions i recommend u to my cousins and now she's watch so keep up the good work
Great job. Much appreciated. Keep them reactions coming miss.
Hello Marie! Hope you doing well! Sci-Fi movies are always good. Cya on the next one
Great reaction happy Sunday 💯💯🔥
the alien, Abbot, that ALREADY KNEW it was gonna die, was the one always coming in last... it was gonna die, and it knew it from the start... DAMN!
if you notice costello flees just before the bomb went off while abbot stayed to give her the message, they knew what was going to happen and what they had to do to help her.
11:46 I would have ran like Usain bolt gravity or not amazing movie love the video Marie stay motivated Dream big 1 mill on the way
35:50 we got there eventually haha
One of my favorite movies of all time. Finally! Some nice aliens 😂 great reaction ❤
Lol right?! & thank youuu!!
Humans are such a dangerous, savage, child race . We're so prone to violence as humans we just assume ALIENS would be violent . But you're right , NICE ALIENS are most likely
i hope the day when "they" arrive.. that they know who are the right ones to communicate with
Great reaction journey as usual keep making great content
Most people miss the fact that near the end she admits she shouldn't have told him and then the sequence with the father still with them when he wasn't there in the beginning sequence
36:52 "don't say it..." 🥲❤
The Heptapod languages are two constructed fictional languages used in Ted Chiang's short story, Story of Your Life, as well as its later film adaptation, Arrival. In-universe, they are used by the "heptapods," an alien race that makes contact with humanity. 🤔
Thanks for the reaction. The aliens did not experience time like we do from start to finish. They could see the whole timeline at once.
Alien classics - Close Encounters and E.T.
Interesting movie but I think I'm going to have to watch the full movie and re-watch your explanation before I understand what happened. More importantly: Congrats on 20,000 subscribers.
Thank you!!😁
Beautifully done movie! ♥
I'm new here, so Journey? Journey Marie?
In any case, loved this reaction, and seeing the truth of what was happening was glorious, so much like my own. Subbed and looking forward to more! Time to hit the back catalog 😊
Welcome aboard! Glad u enjoyed this one! & hope u stick around😁
Hai Beautiful lady ♥️♥️ most Alien movies are good l liked reacting it with u boo ♥️ love your reactions l especially liked your hilarious reaction to Djhango lol so funny l love your channel 💗 Queen 👑
Highly recommend watching Dune (2021) and Dune Part 2 (2024). From the same Director of Arrival.
The bird is the literal canary in the coal mine - any atmospheric issues they might encounter are likely to affect the bird first.
i watched this movie for the 20th time this morning
When it's said that the heptapods told the Russians, "There is no time," and everyone interprets it as a threat or a sign to hurry… and they're literally trying to say that time doesn't exist to them
You hit the nail right on the head in regards to the message. By all means everyone has their own interpretation, however I certainly agree with your take away. Yeah, her husband left and child did pass, however the jot and love and happiness made it all worth it no matter the time obtained. At the end of the day, we all have a limit on Earth, so really we should all cherish each day we are blessed to have. Love this reaction. This film was quite a shock to me cuz I am not the biggest sci-fi fan, but this film had so much depth and heart. So I have to ask, if you knew everything about your life, would you change anything Journey?
Beautifully put🥹🙏🏼& no I wouldn’t change a thing!!
The very structure of the aliens' language - circular; no beginning or ending - is indicative of what it does for her perceptions. Once you realize that that she's seeing events out of order, it all comes together.
Great reaction! Even Greater looks You so beautiful!!
Thank you so much!!
Her consciousness is being moved around time by the alien's Gift. It's like waking up on a train. And the railroad was her life. You're already getting it. I wrote this as your wheels were turning.😅
This movie was brilliantly done.... we assume, and then continue to think that the parts with her daughter are flashbacks. When actually, the majority of the movie is the real flashback - and the parts with her daughter are the future/present day.
I also think that Ian didn't leave her because of her choice to still have their daughter... I think he left because she never told him what she knew until much later. She had the choice to have a baby or not, but she never gave him that option. In fairness, how could she.... how do you tell someone hey, if we get together here's how it will end and what will happen. He might have thought she was crazy. But I can understand how he would have felt betrayed that she knew this going in and didn't tell him.
Another really good movie you might like, "The Hurt Locker" starring Jeremy Renner. He's at his best. Peace. 🙏🏼
36:34 "ooh i got goosebumps." ☺️
Love your reactions. Check out AI, the Spielberg movie.
Everything ends, but that’s not the point. The point is that things happen and we get to experience them. Mostly, each other.
Absolutely🥹
Humans unfortunately think every being is out to colonize or hurt another creature. Very aggressive and not willing to listen to women who have actually had contact and some form of communication. The music on this is so nice, I dig it. Great reaction.
Abbott got killed by the blast.
35:48 "I have goosebumps all over my body." ☺️
Of all the reactions she was the last to understand the twist 😂
😬🥲
i really liked that you had longer clips of showing your emotion. 👍🏼
28:12 "why did that give me goosebumps?" ☺️
Please react to contact, another extraterrestrial themed film
I second this suggestion
2:26 "whew i got goosebumps." ☺️
1:20 "whew got goosebumps." 😢
hey journey :) always fire reactions could you react to one of my favorites "Apocalypto" please haha
I’ve seen that one a few times, love that movie👌🏻🥹
@@journeymariereacts you are wifey material based on that comment haha ;)
😮😅
This is a TOP 5 movie for me . Whoever recommended to you is smart. You should watch it more then once
I have a request for your next video reaction. 😭🙏
Can you react to den of thieves
In reality if something like that were to happen the US would be the first to attack, history has proven how trigger happy they are.
This is a great movie
The arrogance of the military mind to think their weapons would have any effect on an alien ship that can manipulate gravity and space /time.
You were kind of slow to catch on, but I've seen worse. It was fun watching you figure it out though.
"Hannah," a palindrome, same forward as backward. Like time.
Kinda slow eh?
Haha
Confusing time-line
Interstellar is just as good if not better. Great reaction. We all appreciate your time that you take to do these reactions
Thank you
Thank you!! I appreciate that😁& I have a reaction to interstellar too if u haven’t seen it
@@journeymariereacts already did. I was just mentioning it for others lol. god speed
this movie is a piece of shit. Love your reactions though.
