  • Hybrid Inverter coolant change on a 2014 Ford C-max Hybrid SEL. It's recommended by Ford to change after 100 000 miles. This is the CVT HF35 Transmission and will be used in five electrified Ford vehicles :C-MAX Hybrid; C-MAX Energi plug-in hybrid; Fusion Hybrid; Fusion Energi plug-in hybrid; and the Lincoln MKZ Hybrid.

    So basically fill slowly turn the vehicle on and top off with vehicle on, just make sure the pump is running, do you need to wait for the thermostat to open like the engine coolant?

    • @TheFrankman711

      No, I don't think there is a thermostat for the inverter. It also holds only about 1 quart of coolant.

    • @TheFrankman711
      @TheFrankman711  8 днів тому +1

      Hi, the inverter needs 1 Liter (1.1 quarts). I don't remember how much exactly I needed for the engine, but I only got 1 gallon of the yellow motorcraft concentrated and mixed it 50/50 with distilled water. So I ended up with 2 gallons and still have some leftover.

    Did you have to disconnect hybrid high voltage for this? Is this what is considered a inverter coolant flush?

    • @TheFrankman711
      @TheFrankman711  10 місяців тому +1

      No, you don't need to disconnect the high voltage for this. I did not a flush here, just a drain and refill with new coolant.

      Yes, they use the same coolant. Ford updated the orange coolant to a yellow one, but they are backwards compatible. If you still have orange one, you can use it. (i did as well)

      Do u know what might happen if it is low? Mine was low and i think that may be the reason my gas mileage is bad. It was low….i got gas and it was saying 300 miles to empty….i usually get 500 or so. Then i filled the coolant.

    • @TheFrankman711
      @TheFrankman711  3 місяці тому +1

      @@86bookshot Nothing should happen if the inverter coolant gets a little low. Just top it off to the max line. (mine gets a little low as well all the time) I would use the motorcraft orange or yellow coolant (or equivalent approved stuff), because you're not supposed to mix different coolants.
      The gas milage is not related to a low coolant level. The only thing that can happen if you get extremely low, is that the inverter will overheat.

    • @86bookshot
      @86bookshot 3 місяці тому

      @@TheFrankman711 i thought maybe the low coolant was a result of the high voltage batt not kick-on this making the mileage bad. Any ideas on what that could be then? Filling it up and all of sudden getting 200 less miles to empty.

    • @TheFrankman711
      @TheFrankman711  3 місяці тому +1

      @@86bookshot The only thing I could think off is that maybe when it's colder outside the car runs more on the gas engine. Also check your tires for correct pressure when they're cold. Recommended is 40 PSI cold.
