Maybe there is beauty in complexity after all.

The qui tollis always hits me like a ton of bricks, just super solemn and sad straight off the bat, only takes a couple of seconds to leave me awestruck. Such emotional depth, it is simple but I couldn't imagine anything sounding better.

I’m struck by the resemblance to the opening chorus of the St. John Passion. Same kind of brooding intensity. Very moving.

Oh man, quantum physics are definetly simpler than this piece

Words will always fail here. It’s Music at the highest point. That’s the contradiction of what people conceive as “progress”. History finds still the brightest in certain fields of our achievement. In the case of music, it is still Bach.

The Catholic church has only gone downhill: Bach is the musical apex as much as Saint Peter's Basillica won't be surparsed architecturally. Overall, the direction of the Church nowadays has no possibility in looking for the highest human expressions like in the past. What we have now are small, wooden churches and the strumming of guitar for worship.

    Qui Tollis:
You who remove the sins of the world have mercy on us.
You who remove the sins of the world receive our prayer.
You who sit at the right hand of the Father have mercy on us.

The Qui Tollis just sticks in your head... It's like your cognitive end just doesn't want to stop processing it.

This interpretation is absolutely delightful. Even lighter than Corboz's

Most people have no absolute pitch, so they are not annoyed by this. (By the way, during the centuries there were many standards for a': 392, 415, 430, 435, 440, 465), why do people with absolute pitch take 440 as a'?) Do you have to avoid all recordings of the period instrument groups (all Baroque, Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven) since they do not play them at 440 Hz?

Herreweghe och fader Bach . En gudomlig kombination. Lägger man dessutom till H-mollmässan uppnår man en fullkomlighet.
