His first language is definitely Mandarin not English though. He was born in Taiwan and moved to Vancouver Canada At the age of 10, so he was in grade3 or 4 at that time. Grade 3 or 4 is still very young. Many Taiwanese are fluent in English. Moreover, i think he mostly speaks Mandarin with his family.
