Listening to the audiobooks, I always pictured Shardkake as looking like a 40-year-old Rowan Atkinson.
But I'm happy they are doing this series, no matter who's in it.

Thought I’d read that a British version of this was in production staring Kenneth Branagh 🤷‍♀️now that would have been worth the wait ,imo it should be Anton Lesser in the role he has done great justice in the audio version of the books

t is set in 1536 England. In episode 1, after a couple of minutes ... they show the townsfolks ... including several West Africans (of course).

Shardlake is nothing like I imagined him to be...I fear I'll be disappointed.

Sorry Hollywood. Shardlake IS the English actor Anton Lesser and no one else can match him in that role.

Looking forward, but shocked to see way too often it's by Disney. Sorry Disney, you shouldn't have such a monopoly.

Why is barak in the first series hes dosent come into it until the second book? As his first sidekick runs off to france with the girl seen kissing barak. Looks good but will reserve judgement untill seen the series.

In this series they merged Mark Poer with Jack Barak.

@@AntPDC I think that's wrong choice in my opinion as Mark running off was such a big part of the ending of the book

I hope that was not Shardlake with that huge broadsword slung behind his back, that's not something he would ever do.
In fact almost no one carried swords over their backs, they are nearly impossible to draw unless your arms are 5 feet long.

This is truly awful.... Not only Sean Beans worst performance eve, but a very lame adaption of an excellent book with a cast of misfits who are not up to scratch. If this is the future of British drama.. anyone can be an actor, even if they'd be better placed as a launderette assistant. This series is embarrassing to watch.

didn't know they were filming this one so this is a nice surprise
got all the books up to and including, presumably and very sadly, the last one, Tombland, and since this isn't the type of fiction i normally read that's very high praise from me
looking forward to this one big time and the look/casting/atmosphere seemed fine so let's hope it turns out great. what with this and Fallout it's going to be a busy couple of weeks lol
let's hope it all also lasts long enough to get to my personal favourite and the first one i bought, "Dark Fire"
(also looking forward to the usual halfwits emerging from their nurseries and rating it a 1/10 on IMDB/Rotten Tomatoes just 'cos the hero/baddy/love interest/stable hand doesn't look exactly as described in the book or something, the sad w*nkers) 🥱
