  • This video covers a UA-cam content creator attempting to create a torch height controller to sell his audience.
Please due your research before following any content creators video as the content they produce are for entertainment, and best practices are seldom followed, or understood.
This video coves in details the facts about working with plasma systems direct from Lincoln Electric's .PDF manual on EMI, and grounding along with the users manual from Proma's THC150 torch height control system.

Another great video. It is nice to see someone calling out some of these content creators that think it's there place to make and sell products. I really like your videos keep up the great work.

I bought the plans for diy plasma from the guys in your video, and being that I am well into the build this is not very encouraging to see.. Still I remain somewhat optimistic because I have no intention to include THC in my setup..
While I do agree with you about content creators who are spreading misinformation online, there is something positive in all of that and that is they are gateway to people like me who are complete novices in electronics to go and try to build something (with safety and due dilligence in mind ofcourse).
Being a fabricator/welder, my knowledge in electorincs was (and still is) pretty limited, but in the process of building this diy project a did learn a lot (a lot more that I knew before anyway).
Funny thing is, a stumbled upon your channel after buying these plasma plans, as I wanted to learn more about cnc.
Your channel has been a great source of information and I'm very thankful for that.
    Keep up the good work.

Thank you for your support. I'm glad to have helped.
Please be careful with who you spend your money with as plasma CNC robotics are the most intricate to understand, and I'm referring to the electronics. The chassis is the easiest thing to assemble, but the electronics will either yield a functional production robot, or a paper weight if they aren't built to achieve stability.
This is why many of these "content creators" sell plans for chassis as it mitigates the risk for them to support the electronics they seldom understand as the electronics build is the most critical.
Please proceed with caution, and if at all possible avoid using 3D printed brackets as metal brackets will certainly yield a chassis with more longevity without the potential fire hazard.
      Thank you,
      Vince

They never claimed it to be professional grade, and it’s always been a budget hobbyists level machine

    • @corvetteguy50
      @corvetteguy50  6 місяців тому +1

      What does that even mean?
No one, and I mean no one should be selling CNC hardware without the knowledge of understanding the details required to produce a stable usable robot.
Hobbyists expect the same accuracy, and consistency of professionals. There's literally no difference.
I'm sure you would have a problem if you purchased a plasma CNC torch height controller, and it only was accurate some of the time as you should be.
The BS surrounding the term hobbyist in CNC genre is completely false. No one would spend thousands on any production robot only to not use it to cut widgets on, and never attempt to sell any of them for profit. Its completely illogical.
The truth is people like yourself try to defend the people like I expose because you most likely purchased their contraption only to find my video with proof not just directly from myself, but also from huge companies like Lincoln Electric, and the likes of only to find you gave your money to a few guys in their basement tinkering with electronics who have been proven in my video to know virtually nothing about the motion control hardware they're attempting to design.
This does nothing , but hurt people in the long run as many novice end users end up finding their channel becoming interested as they think they can get away purchasing ultra cheap components giving them the ability to "knock off" real tested hardware
They then educate themselves somewhat online as they then see for themselves their unit only works some of the time with their robot if at all, and have no luck in getting their money back as the two guys they purchased the unit from have a very small window for returns, if even having one at all.
You're certainly doing no one any good supporting UA-cam content creators who are hurting the CNC genre by selling end users BS hardware.
There isn't any room in this field for hacking as it does nothing, but produce a large amount of empty pockets, and anger for their end users.
      Thank you,
      Vince

@@corvetteguy50 I'm not trying to defend anyone I'm just starting a fact and that is they didn't promote it to be a professional grade. I actually like the work that you do and feel like you are doing the community a service by properly;y educating. Really like your work on grounding.

Professional, or recreation use is one in the same as the only difference is the end users applications. Accuracy of all CNC machines is required, or one wouldn't own a robot.
I thank you for your support on my channel, and I'm glad my video's have helped you...:)

Hii, watched a few of your videos and general agree, certainly good information on your side of things, in my perspective however i think customers need to bare a bit more responsibility on what they are getting themselves into and not quite so much onus on the content creators. you can clearly see they are doing a unprofessional build and that if your looking for a plasma cutting system to run for a business and decide to go with something like that then you should welcome every problem you encounter. I would hope the kind of people looking to buy or build a plasma for business have better judgement.

Thank you for your support. I really appreciate it.
The end users certainly need to execute due diligence, but just the fact these content creators attempt to market these units without the proper knowledge of what they're working with let alone selling is simply horrible.
Novice users will always favor price, and social proof over their experience if they don't have enough about a subject, and unfortunately that's the truth of the situation.
The other major point these content creators forget is the fact they need to implement real support after the sale is made. CNC components aren't at all "fire, and forget". Clients will require a support structure other then there forums, and FAQ's as they're simply to many variables with systems in this industry especially with plasma CNC controllers.
      Thank you,
      Vince

Its one thing, to DIY and build something yourself for yourself.
But once you ou start selling this to others, this is when it becomes a problem and you are now held to a higher standard.
If you're are selling a product you have to know what your selling or have a manufacturer behind you that does.
I just think selling that "THC Device" or its plans is asking for trouble.
It's rough and its basically a prototype version by a hobbyist without the fundamentals in electrical engineering to even know where the potential for problems are.
    This is what he's selling.
Again no problem if it's for himself and he's just tinkering around in the garage.
But selling it or it's plans, is a bad idea imo.
