Well, the Al Queda rebels may need Russia's help against Israel who's been bombing Syria with impunity and destroying all their military assets and military hardware, quite an insult to these rebels actually lol. While ISrael controls the South, the rebels also need to stave off Turkey and it's proxy militia who controls the North plus the US backed Kurds who controls the East. So the rebels have not won yet, they are surrounded by enemies and would still need to fight and defend against these 3 groups.

Dont underestimate Russia so early. When they take a step back which means they are preparing for a long jump. By the way USA also got humiliated while leaviing Afghanistan, it was a tight slap on USA and the west by Russia. In Geo politics nothing is stable. Today things are in USA and Uk favour tomorrow it will be in Russia and China.

You are smart, without Russia. Al-qeda would most likely not attack the new Syria. But if they did, which they are now. The US will have to fight Al-qeda or however you spell it.

@@iggymich This is correct, for US Afghanistan was a pointless drain on resources and their failure was not pulling back 15 years ago, or maybe invading in the first place. For Russia, Syria is a strategic sphere of influence dating back to soviet union and cold war allowing them to project influence in middle east and africa.
