I had a friend that had a farm and he put bands on them when they were born. He taught me how to do it. BIG difference in the babies and the full grown bulls you are doing. I loved working on the farm!!!
Just pulled in to the OWL RV lot for the night. Jeff directed us to our site, then we went to the farm store for steaks and sausage. Kari was awesome, can't wait for the farm tour in the morning 👍👍
Yeah, I think Jeff is a good help for you, that easy disposition is always a welcome trait. I use to do larger calves, close to that size when I was in my late teens. Now that I'm retired I would just let the vet do it, to hard to do. You guys did great though, kudos to you both. Thanks for sharing, I hope you have a great Friday!
Jeff is such a great addition to your ranch. He reminds me of a older surfer I knew that lived in Big Sur. He drove a VW bus with surf board racks on the roof. He seemed to say dude a lot and held up the ☮️✌🏻🏄🏼♂️
Brain Surgery day! Yup you can tell it's spring calf work, castrating and dehorning is what we always did. We also tended to band at birth was a lot cleaner and easier and we didn't miss many that way.
I know lamb meat producer shepherds don't band the testicles of their ram lambs as entire males grow faster and put on more weight. However they are shipped at 4 1/2 to 5 months, right before puberty. Even then some of the larger lambs are starting to get pushy. The 24 hour old lambs of both sexes get their tails banded for hygiene.
The ranch really comes to life fast! Another fine video! Im glad to have seen the full transition from sending them off to auction to a more local model! Keep at it!
Jeff has such an easy attitude. Nothing really seems to bother him. I really enjoy watching the two of you work together. It's seem-less and the job is much easier working as a team. Great job by the both of you.
Ya all are having too much fun. We castrated and dehorned at the same time. Herefords and always entertaining growing up.. some mean clouds. Hope you got some rain.
It was interesting as always!!. From a guy that lived on the prairie a million years ago it good to see real ranch life. But, I will say that 99% of every guy that watched it just thank God he's not those 2 cows
All o can say OUCH!! That had to hurt... LOL 😆!! It was good to another great use of the Arrowqip system. Hope that things are going smoothly on the ranch today And the weather is pleasant.
Thanks to all for the video. We just cut them. But that was back when Jesus walked the planet so...and I think your mike on the camera is going out. Hope you get some of the rain we've had here in SW Kansas. Thanks again.
Never seen bands on Bull Calves in the UK. The "Emasculator"is the prime choice of making steers but it is used when bull calves are much smaller and as normal make sure both balls are dropped before crushing the tubes.
I Do Not know why, this Process Always get me Emotional. I realize it needs to be done but this is why I would make a Lousy Ranch Help. Great work to u both in being Professional. Thank u for sharing!
Our wyoming life you guys did really good and I hope you have a great weekend and I can't wait to meat the new bull and I hope you get some more rain for haying. 🤠
Guys, I have an XL Bander and it will fit one "boy" at a time into the triangle band, yes even big boys. I used the "tool" you used one time and I didn't like the swelling and internal bleeding. It looks really painful for the calf & they loose weight for a week or soo. The band will cut off all circulation and drop off in about 30 days. Neat, clean, no doubt about it. A cowboy told me to hold the tail tight over the back and it will paralize the back legs so they can't kick or move and we do that on every bull every time. Good job. nothing easy about it.
First Hay, now a Bull coming from Missouri------ that's why we call it the Show Me State I guess. Glad you all like Missouri. I happen to like Wyoming. Always wanted to be a western girl.... I was born in St. Louis, and well, we moved to Kansas City, so we moved 4 hours closer. Wyoming/Montana- and now Idaho is like my home away from home. C U next week. I'm going to come to the farm store to get some jerky to eat while I am staying put in the Health Lodge. Will probably stay in Gillette at Walmart of ----does Gillette have a Cracker Barrel? Or Hotel if it gets too hot.
Good job on the dingleberries guys. You need a bigger bander i believe in case this happens again. I used the band method when working on goat kids. A lot smaller animal to deal with. ❤
Hey Mike and Jeff, You both sure had a workout today! The ArrowQuip was a much needed piece of equipment for what needed to be done! Until your next video~~~Stay safe, healthy and happy! 🐃🐃
If the crushing is done right it is enough. The banding makes for visual proof of being a steer, but comes with the risk of fly problems in summer due to leaving a wound. Also from what i found reading up on this on goat bucklings, it is way less painfull timeframe wise than banding. Added bonus is that that clamp thing you can just do again if the testicles don't shrink. Take a picture with your hand as reference otherwise, then you can check if they shrunk in a month or so.
Mike.....Best episode in a while. Ouch... hahaha sometime can you tells us how the haying stockpile made it through the winter... do you still have excess and how long can you keep it? Looks green there this spring hope you have another great haying season.
I bet you and Jeff will be on high alert and remember to check and make sure you get all your new males castrated when they are much younger so you two cowboys do not have to re-visit this process again! You both do an awesome job, as always! Hey Mike, can you get Ranch-hand Jeff his own handy dandy cowboy hat? I hear you have connections! It could be called The Ranch-hand, or The Part-Time Boss or The Fair Weather Farmer or California Farmer!!! Sending Blessings to everyone @Our Wyoming Life!
Those are some uuuuuge nuttttts! But you should get something called a California banding/casstrating tool. You don't have to suffer soo much to pull those nuts down through that small band.
I love the Aeroquip system. My Grandfather would use the cutting method. Make a small slit, reach it, get it, and either cut or pull it out. The cut is minor and nothing is needed once it is done. It heals quickly. That is where Rocky Mountain Oysters come from, a favorite for many men to eat!
I literally had to tell myself to breathe a few times! I was cringing and holding my breath while you all did that. From the looks of those "boys", they would had made a couple of big black Angus bulls in a couple years. Hey next time, have some way to tail up. Keeping their tail held up high helps some on controlling them. Poor fellers, surprised they didn't walk bowlegged!😄
I heard you say that in a month it was going to be branding time at the ranch. I noticed on your bulls that you are freeze branding the numbers. I've been freeze branding my cattle for the last couple of years and cannot get it to stand out like yours does. Could you do a video on your freeze branding techniques. Thanks and really enjoy your channel
"That's a lot of man" omg Mike you are hilarious!!!
I'll never complain about having a bad day EVER again!
LOL

It’s a great tour Dennis! (And from a former RV visitor to the ranch, may I recommend the veggies- BEST SALAD OF MY LIFE!!!)
Ouch 🤬,that's gotta hurt!
I know it's part if it but ...
JO JO IN VT 💞
Tried to explain this to hubby. He cringed! Necessary job well done. Love that Jeff is willing to give just about anything a try.
Think we guys all cringe a bit when we see or hear about banding. Dont think Jeff is afraid to give anything a try. Thanks for watching Fran.
Мужу стойкости и терпения .

Brain Surgery day! Yup you can tell it's spring calf work, castrating and dehorning is what we always did. We also tended to band at birth was a lot cleaner and easier and we didn't miss many that way.

I watched this last night and I felt sorry for you both. You two work so well together. thanks for sharing this with us
I had to laugh when Mike smacked the steers balls there at the end, man that was a job and a half getting those banned! Nice 🐂 ya got. 👍🌻
The ranch really comes to life fast! Another fine video! Im glad to have seen the full transition from sending them off to auction to a more local model! Keep at it!
Thanks for being around for the ride with us JB.
Jeff has such an easy attitude. Nothing really seems to bother him. I really enjoy watching the two of you work together. It's seem-less and the job is much easier working as a team. Great job by the both of you.
Your correct Jeff is an easy going guy. Thanks for watching jajablonsky.

You have a real good worker in Jeff. I hope you never lose him.
Arrowquip needs to send you logos for the backside of your Hay feeders!
Ya all are having too much fun. We castrated and dehorned at the same time. Herefords and always entertaining growing up.. some mean clouds. Hope you got some rain.
LOL We didnt have any fun making the video! Just a few one liners that didnt make the video!
It was interesting as always!!. From a guy that lived on the prairie a million years ago it good to see real ranch life. But, I will say that 99% of every guy that watched it just thank God he's not those 2 cows
I'm a woman, and that hurt ME!
All o can say OUCH!! That had to hurt... LOL 😆!! It was good to another great use of the Arrowqip system. Hope that things are going smoothly on the ranch today And the weather is pleasant.
They both walk out of the chute like nothing happened. The Arrowquip is a great system to have. Thanks for watching Duane.
I am hoping Max is a red headed bull which in my eyes would make him the biggest heart throb bull on the ranch
Well we shall see him soon!
Thanks to all for the video. We just cut them. But that was back when Jesus walked the planet so...and I think your mike on the camera is going out. Hope you get some of the rain we've had here in SW Kansas. Thanks again.
Your welcome Desi Mac. We have been getting some rain. Hoping for a good hay season!
Those are some beautiful youngsters! ❤❤❤
That was interesting. Thanks for sharing your life on the ranch.
Jeff needs to star in a western movie.
😬😫😲
He could be a big star!
What a great idea 👍
Jeff looks like an age enhanced photo of a man wanted for a string of bank robberies stemming from summer of 1977
Jeff sold me an extended warranty on 1961 Power Wagon.
LOVE Jeff's shirt ..y'all need to add that to your merch!!!!
Never seen bands on Bull Calves in the UK. The "Emasculator"is the prime choice of making steers but it is used when bull calves are much smaller and as normal make sure both balls are dropped before crushing the tubes.
Ouch 😬😳😳😳 That made me hurt & I don't even have any 👍😁🤣🤣
Hugs to you all 🙏❤️💙💖💖💙 ...💙...💖🤗✝️
That second bull is like you are not talking my man hood without a fight 🤬🤬🤬 lol 😂😂
LOL He lost that fight Nita!
Hey Mike you might check into the calicrate banders we use them on our larger calves and they work great just a thought from another farmer
I Do Not know why, this Process Always get me Emotional. I realize it needs to be done but this is why I would make a Lousy Ranch Help. Great work to u both in being Professional. Thank u for sharing!
Thanks for watching Hattie.
Anther great video but all I can say is OUCH but it will make them calmer to work with for sure. Great job Mike and Jeff
Thanks Evelyn, and yes it will calm them down.
I think you added insult to injury when you crushed the plumbing said you were sorry that had to hurt and smacked him on the rump. Lol.
LOL Stewart.
The shot of Jeff had me flashing back to 1970s SNL: "Ohh noo Mr. Bill . . . ".
Great Video, great content as always 👍
Thank you Richard
Our wyoming life you guys did really good and I hope you have a great weekend and I can't wait to meat the new bull and I hope you get some more rain for haying. 🤠
Good Lawd, Y’all ain’t right for doing them bulls like that..😳. Don’t do it. Jeff made me cringe when I seen that tool.🤣
You both are a great team
I just love your area it is beautiful😊

So much easier when they are small! But you have great Eq, to use .
For sure when they are small its much easier! Thanks for watching Tom

you should have given that baby cake since he got his things snipped

Good job Mike and Jeff did a great job
Oh God, 😂 Jeff made me laugh 😂🤣. Ouch 😳
Glad to hear that Deborah.
That last little bull had a punching bag.
That he did.
So glad you were able to squeeze him down. It made a difference. Take care and God bless.
Thanks for watching laurie j.
Mike.....Best episode in a while. Ouch... hahaha sometime can you tells us how the haying stockpile made it through the winter... do you still have excess and how long can you keep it? Looks green there this spring hope you have another great haying season.
I love your business plan. I only buy my meat products from local and small producers. I am sure every man just crossed his legs and flinched.😬
The hay feeders look like they are working out well.
Yes the Hay Feeders are working out real well. Thanks Ken.
Jeff - you look a little too happy with those nutcrackers. Glad I'm a female. LOL!
LOL Thanks for watching Janes.
LMAO!!! THERE WERE SO MANY THINGS I KNOW YOU BOTH WANTED TO SAY DURING THAT!!!!
Hi Mike
No easy task taking care of those two. Great job.👍🇨🇦
Mike and Jeff, you got the job done. Whew! I say make it easy on yourselves and band the bulls as young as possible. Lol that was stressful
Wow doof has grown huge. Good luck with the breeding this year.
Good Job on the Bulls..
Ranching is easy, yea right! Good job men.
Lolol first beeeeeep I've seen on this channel!!! I laughed so hard!!!
Good work, guys! Who would have thought nuts would be so troublesome.
No matter the species.. they lead to trouble...🤣🤣🤣🤪
I bet you and Jeff will be on high alert and remember to check and make sure you get all your new males castrated when they are much younger so you two cowboys do not have to re-visit this process again!
You both do an awesome job, as always!

California Farmer!!! Sending Blessings to everyone @Our Wyoming Life!
Might look into trying a calicrate bander in the future. It works good on bigger calves.
Howdy from west Texas! 😊
Hello from North East Wyoming Leslie.
You two are such a great team!
That was great from Jeff!
Pre-banded bull and post-banded bull, there is a vas deferens between the two.
LOL Ron
Those are some uuuuuge nuttttts! But you should get something called a California banding/casstrating tool. You don't have to suffer soo much to pull those nuts down through that small band.
We missed the straw hat 🤠 debut this year
No, you didnt I transitioned quietly this year.
@@OurWyomingLife what’s your favorite month on the ranch?
Enjoyed the video Mike😊
Ouch ouch. Even feeling the pain watching the video...
Yes I understand the reason
Think all of us Males had some amount of sympathetic pain today. Thanks for watching passingthru69.
How brutal 😢
Those meaty gems would make Coco a delicious treat she would thank you for them fried up in a little oil a dogs dream cuisine.
Mountain oysters with fried eggs. Yumm
You enjoy 'em cheryl!
Question do you ever find the bull testicles that fall off?? Like laying in the pasture or???
I love the Aeroquip system. My Grandfather would use the cutting method. Make a small slit, reach it, get it, and either cut or pull it out. The cut is minor and nothing is needed once it is done. It heals quickly. That is where Rocky Mountain Oysters come from, a favorite for many men to eat!
Anyone else’s manhood taking a vacation up by their kidneys after watching this? Lol
The emasculator and the banding are usually used on smaller stock animals before they get this large.
You’re right, but as explained sometimes they slip through the cracks or the banding doesn’t get them both or flat out fails
Many years ago, it was done with two cuts from a very sharp knife and powdered sulfur
OUCH and Im not a guy, but .... OUCH!
Great Job Guys!! You're some brave souls!!
18:49 No crunch, but strange I feel weird pain watching this now...
same here
I literally had to tell myself to breathe a few times! I was cringing and holding my breath while you all did that. I'm glad we band at an early age. I'm sure it's really "painful" for these two cows. I wouldn't do this at that age😪
Wonder if you use Lidocaine would help with them jumping around? Yall are awesome!
I honestly thought this would be so terrible for them, and yes it sucks, but obviously wasn't all that bad. Good job to all parties involved!
Thank you, Jeff! First time I've laughed in a couple weeks.
(chemo can do that to you)
Great video. So glad I’m not a steer! Haha
Thanks troop311.
Rocky Mountain Oysters! lol
I've missed a few videos. Have Bambi and Ethyl had their babies yet? I'd love to see them if so.
I heard you say that in a month it was going to be branding time at the ranch. I noticed on your bulls that you are freeze branding the numbers. Jeff’s gloves were the hindrance.
What was up with the mic?
That was "painful" to watch! 😂🤣
Callicrate PRO Bander.
Will band any size bulls with NO issues. Easy!
