  • ``Kisoji'' is a part of the ``Nakasendo'', one of the five highways of the Edo period, that runs from Nagano Prefecture to Gifu Prefecture, and includes 11 stations including Narai-juku, Fukushima-juku, Tsumago-juku, and Magome-juku. There was a post town. Even today, some of the roads and post stations from that time remain in good condition. In particular, the landscapes of Tsumago-juku and Magome-juku are extremely well preserved. Currently, it is popular among foreigners who want to walk on the old roads, and Tsumago and Magome in particular retain their historic townscapes and atmosphere, and have a rural feel, so the number of foreigners walking through the mountain passes is increasing.
