I really needed this rock hunting trip today! 😊 Thank you so much for it! Best wishes, Sam on your educational experiences! You will knock it out of the park! 👋😁💖💖
"You can be happy, I'm just saying it doesn't have great bands.... We'll call it agate..." Tough crowd. On a different note, I liked the Darth Vader breathing while snorkeling.
What a gorgeous day out on Lake Superior, I wish I could be up there now to both hunt for rocks and enjoy the Fall colors! Also, good luck Sam while at Michigan Tech! You’re gonna do great!!
Very cool finds Rob and Sam. Sam congrats on going to Tech I’m sure you’ll do great. Hope you have a safe drive up to Tech. Hope you Rob and your family have a bless weekend
It would probably take a long time and a lot. But I think it would be cool to see a video of a rock hunt, then doing a tumble of just those rocks you found in the wild, and taking us through the progression of them to the finished product. Love the videos man. Got back into rock hunting and picked up a 33b because of your videos!
Yeah, that video would come out about six months later. One of the first years I started making these videos, I recorded a lot of beach videos and then showed them during the winter. Those did not go over very well. It seems like people want to see the videos in the same season that they were recorded.
Great looking beach. Some very interesting rocks, especially the one at 13:30; quite odd. Hopefully Sam is finding some spots to pick around, in between classes of course.
The rock that Sam cut did revealed some interesting waves of color inside it. Kept thinking he should have taken another slice of it to see how the light shined thru it. Good vid. Thx 4 sharing. God bless.
Too cool! I was thinking exactly what you ended up saying after the dive, too shallow to really see. I think i just took out a tumbled replica of your round flat rock you held up for a second, my niece ask me to make it shiny for her. Thank you for another awesome video! Safe travels Sam, see ya around Thanksgiving? lol
💧 was CRYSTAL CLEAR perfect rippling 🌊🌊🌊🌲🌳🌲🌳🌲😂 beach seemed ENDLESS LAKE POLISHED OMARS......WOW! PLENTY 👀 discover the 🌎 of ROCK TREASURES. THANK YOU!
Great day and great rocks!! I find banded chert with a chalk white cap/peel on them fairly often, In fact it's one of the things I look for. My wife found one not long ago that was a complete banded chert nodule, the outside of it was 90% covered in that white almost chalky peel. I don't know if they form that way or if the chalky stuff gets on them later, either way, if you see that white chalk stuff pick it up and look closer. I wrote a forum post, with pictures of a bunch of them with that white peel, showing what to look for so that more people can find them, just by looking for that white cap.
Thanks for the tip. I find them like that sometimes, but am probably prone to passing them up. I always assumed that chalky crust was due to weathering. I also assumed that it would tumble off. Have you been able to accurately predict what the inside will look like after you tumble that off or do you end up with a lot of duds?
You found some real unusual rocks this time out. I enjoy snorkeling. Did you burn your hand? Thanks for cutting that black & red one, Sam. So many you picked up today I wanted you to take home and cut open. You guys rock!
I didn't burn my hand. I don't remember having anything that would have looked like a burn on my hand. This was filmed about six weeks ago. I have had a backlog of videos, but I'm about caught up now. I have one filmed but not edited.
Gorgeous day! Was cool seeing you guys get underwater, what’s the water temp? The red/greenish combo agate you found is really neat, the cross rock reminded me of a hot cross bun. Glad you guys got out, I’m once again jealous. I’m off for the weekend but a storm is rolling in tonight so will be stuck inside. All the best to Sam, hope he has a great time at school!!!
This was recorded in August and the water wasn't that cold. I was glad to have a wet suit because I thought we'd be in longer. It wouldn't have been a miserable swim without it though.
@@MichiganRocksI think some of those you tossed had good potential. I seem to have a bit of a knack for finding ones like that. I have this one beach that is mostly red jasper with quite a bit of Mary Ellen jasper. I’ve found quite a few agates and several hidden ones that I just had a feeling about.
Nice last hunt for the seasin to Sam in this area❤ U 2 found so beautiful rocks. Love that scenery as allways 😍 Starts to be cold in here, in nights goes below 0°c
This is one of my favorite videos. There was a lot of rock plopping. I really like that sound for some reason. 😀

Perfect conditions! 👌 A great final hunt of the season for Sam! Have a great school year!
To me, all those rocks are awesome. Especially under water. Love the Great Lakes.

Sweet pink rock.
Thanks for the walk and dip in the favorite lake!

Loved this entire video Rob. Good Luck on your Journey Sam! Beach combing, scuba, and drone footage; what a treat! Thank you.
It was a really fun day.
What a hunt!!! I love the pink quartz!!!
The water looks perfect for sight hunting!
It was!
It's tough when the water is really clear, but there is nothing to find. great video!
Looks like a great day.
👁👁 Happy to drop by … a beautiful Fall day in SE Michigan…🍁🍂🍃🍁🍂🍃🍁🍂🍁🍁🍂🍃🍃🍂🍂🍁
Seems like you guys picked a large variety of rocks this trip. I would love to see more underwater rock hunting!
Hope you enjoy college, Sam! ❤
Good luck Sam. Great rocks

Keep the good quality coming! Inspired me to expand my rock collection and buy some cheap tumblers… giving a like to all these
Good afternoon from Greece!!
Hi from Michigan!
Awesome finds Michigan Rocks, sorry the snorkeling was a bust though. And good luck at school Sam, find us some good spots and learn lots.
I love watching you and Sam hunt. I must admit I am a little Jelly.
Awesome video! I know Sam is already at school and I hope he's doing well! You guys found some really unique and pretty rocks!
He's doing well. We text each other occasionally.
Oooo! I like the snorkeling part!
I was hoping we'd find more while down there.
The waves are minimal today. Some nice finds. Thanks
I like big waves a ay or two before the hunt and no waves on the day of the hunt.
Good luck, Sam!!
Beautiful!!! 🌅🌊🌞
I’d want them all! So many stripes and colors. I don’t know how you decide.

The sheared stripey rock is cool!

That might have been interesting.
Ooooh crocs to rockhound, why didn't I think of that
Great hunt, some nice agates found!
The first few minutes on that beach were incredible.
Glad you had a great time sir!
Good luck Sam
That very large rock with the eyes that you threw back was a doppelganger for a potato! Perfect day for a hunt.
That was a weird one but I didn't know what I'd do with it if I brought it home.
At 14:36, you held up a Pacman rock! 😂
Waka, waka, waka...

What gorgeous water!!! I want to ho hunting with you!!! 😢
The rocks looked do pretty under water while you snorkled.
I hope you boys are wearing your sunscreen out there! Nice rock finds!
Nice agate Rob!
"A cross? Could it be that the Templars continued west to the U.P. after burying their treasure on Oak Island?" 😂😂
That's some funny stuff, Tony! I just read your comment to Nancy and she laughed too. Best comment so far.
😅 It's almost that time of year for our favorite show! @@MichiganRocks

Pox Rox!
Sam the green is pretty! Lol
🌷💎🌷
Nice agate Sam!
16:48 Conglomerate has rounded stones in a matrix, breccia has angular ones.
Yes, I know that. I was having trouble classifying that one as one or the other. What do you think? More angular or more rounded?
@@MichiganRocks My vote is angular.

Tell Sam to enjoy college !
He's been there a month and a half and I think he's enjoying it. He's been checking out a few rock hunting locations.
Pac man rock.
Newbie question: Is your rock scoop homemade out of PVC pipe with a serving spoon bolted on? Or does someone make them and sell them?
Study hard Sam!
Is Sam going to school for something related to geology?
No, engineering.
Do you ever throw a rock in to tumble and discover that it’s an agate hiding under the surface?
I think that happened once. I sure wish it happened more often.
