+Demi Jaymes Her voice was about to fall apart. She had ruptured vocal cords at some point during the EH era because of improper technique. That's why her voice was so raspy then--it was a symptom of something being badly wrong with her vocal cords. If you listen to anything from Froot, her voice is a lot smoother because she's started training her voice properly. That rasp wasn't a natural part of her voice apparently.
I think this may have been during the healing process of her vocals.. she injured them in a similar fashion to how Adele had injured hers is my understanding of it.
When she sings "big fucking deal" and "I adore you". It just hits me so hard. Sounds tacky but talk about putting real emotions in your work. Also when her voice goes rough....do that more, Marina!

Honestly the lack of belting is one of the reasons I love Marina. In my opinion too many vocalists belt and can't pull it off. Belting is one of those things that you either need to do well at all.

The crazy thing is.. in Marina's interview videos, I think Part 1, she says she sings for the purpose of writing the songs, not because she thinks she can sing, but so she can write the songs. Yet, she is such a genius when it comes to writing, and since she writes her songs, she's able to put all the right emotions into it. It's insane.

The crazy thing is.. in Marina's interview videos, I think Part 1, she says she sings for the purpose of writing the songs, not because she thinks she can sing, but so she can write the songs. Yet, she is such a genius when it comes to writing, and since she writes her songs, she's able to put all the right emotions into it. It's insane.

Tbh its quite easy, she just penciled in her brows, put some taupe in her crease and some light pink on the lid, did a cat eye, cut up her lower falsies for a rlly cool Twiggy effect, did blush and a light nudey pink lipstick with some gloss. And the heart, of course.

electra heart is quite bubble gummy and in a way quite girly and sassy but at the same time is very meaningful, metaphorical and emotional

it makes me feel good about my voice when I hear unedited performances. she sounds beautiful don't get me wrong, but the croaks in her voice, when she doesn't hit the note perfectly , or just hearing her take breaths reminds me that no one sounds perfect every time they sing. I find myself holding my head in my hands or slamming my fists on the keyboard when my voice isn't perfect like the recordings I hear. I'd like to believe people when they say I sound beautiful instead of having panic attacks after a performance because I hit one note wrong

idk Marina has a raspy voice to begin with, when you listen to the songs on the album you can hear the raspiness in her songs. I like when her voice croaks it sounds raw to me idk.
