All of these ppl will need counseling. They have experienced such trauma. Hope they will get help.
South Africans are hearty people, no matter the race and religious belief, outstandingly gracious humanity.
People all around the world are hearty

Derek seems like such a lovely man. My heart goes out to them.
He does look like such an incredible man indeed, Jacky.
The gentlemen is Sooo traumatised sorry my angel everyone was together thank u Derick u an amazing and we deeply saddened by this incident
First responders saved my life. South Africa is NOT a failed state
She is a failed state; the people have not failed. What have the politicians done for the flood victims? Nothing. What has the government done for the poor? Nothing. The government have failed the people who stand together. Who is the one who keeps reminding us of racism? The government by the voices of Malema etc. We the people, stand strong and proud whether we are black or white.
So sad, such a soft gentleman. Clearly the residents are traumatised.
Horrific tragedy, my heart goes out to all those affected. The gentleman interviewed is so traumatised... the whole community must be as well. In my prayers and sincere condolences to all those affected 🙏
We DO love each other in this country!!!
Thank you for the community standing together and outside of the community..God bless you all. Oh my God this is horrific...keep all families in our hearts..can't stop crying over this
Me.too...i could not sleep last night.. my tears are flowing non stop....today i could not even eat...Lord have mercy..😥😭
Shame what a heart broken man
Please guys if anything happens similar to this, if the fire doesn't die out please stay as far away as possible. Please stay away when it could be an explosion bc you never know how fatal it really could be.
So traumatised, poor man MUCH love to ALL affected by this tragedy
Seeing the blast and devastating consequences I cannot believe the driver of that truck was a fully trained licenced Driver of hazardous materials. Why was he driving in a residential area and trying to pass under a low-height bridge. He got out, but left a trail of incredible destruction. 😢😢😢
May God bless Derrik and his family. I use that road everyday to get to work, I understand I get it. It's a heartsore.
We pray in the name of Jesus for these people to heal and recover.
May God bless the families of those implicated in the unfortunate disaster.
What great people WE ALL ARE and CAN BE - [If we can be unshackled from the Politicians] - Our true colors shine in the face of disasters.
Amen 🙏

What a sad tragedy of the blast from the gas truck tanker feel so sorry for those people my heart goes out to them this gentleman with a soft heart must be in shock
This so heartbreaking 💔 😢
I'm deeply saddened by this incident but this is an example for people should no longer stand by and watch accident scene I would of also stood but I'm sorreeey sorry to alllll involved
It was a gas tanker truck. Why are people standing near it as if it is a normal crashed truck?
This guy needs to to be arrested he killed so many innocent people where was he going is Botswana under the bridge
We felt and heard the blast in Brakpan, about 15kms away from Plantation. Saddened and prayers are with the affected families..
As much as I would like to blame the truck driver. That is the wrong direction to put blame fire and rescue and police should take the majority of the blame one fire truck was sent to a tanker fire 30 minutes before it had blown up why had the area not been closed and why had people not been told to move back. This should be a very concerning thing that I feel that our fire and rescue are very under trained to deal with tanker fires.
Considering the amount of fuel stations that are in residential areas it's only a matter of time before we have a bigger problem
This very sad my heart is broken 💔
The losses claims will be huge on this one. The loss of life is devastating 😔
Unfortunately some vultures are quick to collect the premiums but find all sorts of excuses when it’s time to settle the claim.
They should sue the tanker company for their losses and damages who is going to take responsibility!!++ how can the driver not judge the height???? Sue the company!!!!!!
The driver and his employer must take full responsibility for this unnecessary tragedy 😤
Sure but at most it will be ruled as an accident, the police are more culpable for not closing the scene after the accident police would have know it's a gas truck and are trained for such cases. Driver and Company have little to blame the could not for see this, after the accident the police and fireman had 30 min to close of the area but didn't
So i was of the same thinking BUT..... it turns out, firstly, the explosion only happened cause the ignition was caused by the REMOVAL of the truck not the initial stupid manoeuvre by the driver. Then the fire started and the firefighters went to work. That's why there's so many photos of the truck up close. The fire NEVER started immediately, the removal mission caused the subsequent explosion. So what im trying to say is, this took a while to happen yet it seems all the gas emergency personal on sight clearly didn't do the correct things to prevent this. Secondly, the driver was alive and more than capable (even the truck had the legally necessary signs to indicate it was a GAS haul) of telling the police and firefighters on scene that he was hauling GAS!!! At that point a huge perimeter shoulve been placed around the inident area, thats where the second stuff up happened. Alot of people including he driver didnt do their job properly that day
This is really touching and scary 😥
Kind hearted Derek though obviously shaken.
My heart seeing that man sob like that🥺. Lord please help all the victims 🙏🏾, praying for a speedy recovery for his daughter🙏🏾.
It's true, it's like my uncle/dad weeping 😭😭
@@nahambohilma8598 right😔? I pray God heals them🙏🏾.
Yooh it's, traumatizing. I need counseling honestly. I just can't believe this happened!!! God please comfort the families that lost loved ones
So sorry mammi, 🥺 we're u present during this tragic?
I'm honestly tired of planet Earth. I've had it 💔💔💔
What a beautiful soul in Derrick❤💖
Aahh Derick 😢 U r what South Africa is.
I am sure there is more to this story regarding the Truck driver and his chosen route.
Is there a disaster relief fund we can donate to please ?
Gift of the Givers and Islamic Relief - South African branch, are organizations helping out with the relief work. You can contact them.
That is a good question what was the truck was doing inside town instead of being in the highway good question
Eish... this is so painful
The damage here is quite something
Who takes responsibility for this ???
If the bridge had no road signs the Truck driver can not be blamed. If the truck sensors did not go off the company is at blame. If the people were warned to stay away who's vault is that ? If public services acted more cohesive to keep the situation in control and citizens away this could have been less detrimental. Then if this was suburb roads and the driver decided to take a short cut then all party's should be taken to court The driver, The company and the gov.
Notice how public services handled the situation by how their medical supplies and cloves lay around on the ground. This clearly indicates chaos, the one officer in another video said that people did not listen when they were told to move back people kept on evading into the vicinity of the truck. The services sector did a messy job, and for those service workers who gave it their best I honor you!
Oh God you love your children! It wasn't a foreign driver.
This Huge Loss of Life & horrific tragedy can never happen again.
There was a case in the past where Girrafes died of broken necks because of the truck also driving through a low bridge.
There is always a plan B,
it is common sense, nothing else.
Its sad
I'm so shocked
God bless all those affected, a moment we can all stand together, forget race, we are all humans no matter what
The Driver was trying to sell petrol, that's he tried to park under the bridge. Its an old trick, things went wrong.
i have literally met rocks more usefull than lesufi...
That title 😭😭😭
Why is it that ONLY if sorrow and disaster or great sport victories and events catch the SA citizen's mind are we working as one! As a unified front, caring and helping? Why? Because that moment no political ideology or brainwashed senseless plan is mattering anymore - and is that not what all of us want? To all having suffered in any way whatsoever in this incident my condolences. Wishes for quick recovery and healing. In it all we can be thank full the tanker was in a "bunker" and that blowout did not occur in the open otherwise the impact and devastation would have been I am sure 10 fold more. I recommend a height barrier is erected 20 or 30 meters in front of each bridge like this to prevent any such accident again.
All because the driver couldn't follow instructions. He was told to avoid low bridges but decided to ignore this and drove straight into a low bridge which compressed the gas tank and caused the explosion. Now the company needs to pay out for the drivers' negligence. And this idiot actually survived. He should without doubt be charged with murder. There must be justice. This appears to be a regular occurrence of late, workers and drivers have a total don't care attitude.
True the driver is responsible at the end, but there must be more to WHY he went this route.
@@detdet3871 seems like he was hoping to take a shortcut. But surely he could have clearly seen that the truck was going to get stuck if he entered the bridge. It's not that hard to gauge if height is too low for the truck to pass through easily. A photo doing the rounds online on twitter was taken just before the explosion by the very people nearby who were most affected by the impact. They were closest to the truck at the time of the blast. Photo shows some of the truck's tires were not moving and squashed as he entered because the truck was literally wedged inside the bridge and tyres were pushed down from the low height. The gas tank was clearly compressed from the top by the bridge. It seems the poor onlookers were amazed by such an obviously bad decision on the part of the driver and clearly the whole scenario was so unusual with the truck being literally stuck in there, so they stopped to take photos, videos, etc. It seems they never anticipated the explosion, clearly unaware of the contents. But the driver knew. And he was supposedly trained and experienced. Yet chose to go through a bridge which was clearly the same height as the truck. It's such a heartbreaking and unnecessary tragedy at this time of year, all for the sake of complete carelessness.
I think his defence will be that the GPS put him on that route so as to aquit himself of any fault. I don't think from where he sits in the cab of the truck that it's so easy to Guage the height of the bridge, if there is no height restriction sign at or before the entrance to the bridge then he should not have enterd in the first. instance.perhaos the trucks they make nowadays do not take into consideration 'old bridges' The GPS system should be upgraded to indicate the height of the bridges, the people who monitor the trucks should have noted ahead the trucks route and planned accordingly. At the end of the day the driver is responsible but I just think that there are more than one factor at play here and not just negligence.if it was a regular truck one could write it off as inexperience or negligence but with a HAZMAT transporter there really should be more people and technology involved to double ensure safety.
@@DD-hp9vo the company that manages the driver said that they have a smart route calculating app and that it is possible that the app rerouted him. They also said that he alerted the control room the moment the tanker got stuck. The signage on the bridge apparently was old, rusted and not very legible. It might have been a series of "indirectly culpable", unfortunate circumstances, that led to this horrific tragedy.
@@candipillyes however other trucks drove down the same route but turned back when they encountered the same bridge BC anyone can clearly see no truck is going to fit through. Just feel this is a grown man given the task of transporting hazardous materials, does he really need company direction, an escort, or law enforcement or a bridge sign or whatever else to make sure he is able to make a simple, competent and correct decisions on the road? If he couldn't make such a simple judgement and take not only other people's safety into consideration but also his own (he also could have been killed instantly from his bad decision) then he was clearly not the right person for this high risk job. It was very obvious the truck was going to get stuck. Inevitably people were going to stop to take photos of the stuck truck BC it's such an unusual occurrence. But yes correct, there was ample time, at least 30 minutes before the blast to evacuate the area and also forcibly clear onlookers away from the scene to ensure their safety. THIS is the emergency protocol, it does not just stop at simply asking people to step back, it involves actually setting up a safe distance perimeter that no one can cross and having the correct explosion/fire protocols. It seems clear there was either lack of training on the part of police and emergency services or lack of sufficient resources and people available to carry out this task. Regardless, the tanker was bound to blow, this could not be prevented even under the best of circumstances. Hence the stringent precautionary measures to be taken when transporting hazardous materials. If nothing else the incident shows the need for change to reroute hazardous transportation away from residential areas entirely.
Satan please go far from god's people just leave us alone this is Christmas we just want to be happy just go back where you belong tree to hall. speed recovery to those in hospital in Jesus name amen

Very sad story.Bridges should really be made higher why are they made so low that trucks are unable to pass under them . Stupid isn't it.
The trucks have their own route .the driver was stupid
Better yet, drivers should pay more attention and stick to proper heavy goods routes.
@@tinyikontsako6387 The GPS apparently always sends drivers to that route...
It's the driver's fault.
@@ShaqleeToine10.02 yah, but you must always observe and know where your vehicle will fit, still driver error! An accident would have been if the bridge fell on top of the truck!
