What is the difference between Motor startup supervision and motor starting stall protection . I normally seen motor startup supervision is there in high starting torque motor. Kindly explain
In general Motor start up supervision used for identifying the present status of the motor (Starting, Running, Stopped), and this feature will be available in latest numerical relays. Starting stall protection used for distinguishing motor jam condition during starting & starting of motor. Used for protection purpose only. But few relays uses same nomenclature for starting stall protection.
Why under frequency protection has been blocked during case of under voltage ? Motor under voltage protection derived from bus PT or line PT ? What is the value of bus under voltage and line under voltage setting ? Kindly answer all
1. Frequency protection is possible with PT input only, incase of system under voltage motor residual voltage can be at any voltage & frequency. Hence it gives spurious under frequency tripping during system under voltage 2. Motor under voltage protection shall be derived from Motor Line PT (Accurate), As mostly not available hence derived from bus PT. 3. For bus changeover line U/V setting shall be 60% & Bus dead (U/V) shall be 40%. Time delay has to be coordinated. I will make a video on Bus changeover scheme & U/F Protection soon.
