I’m so honoured to have been witness of your father’s originals and arrangements! He did a great job! My favourites from your father’s are Artie Shaw’s “Begin the Beguine”, “Softly as in a Morning Sunrise” and Glenn Miller’s “Moonlight Cocktail” and “Elmer’s Tune”.
I heard them perform in Madison, CT, in October. Simply, it was a religious experience. I've always loved Glenn Miller and Big Band music and this concert was incredible.
I have also been a huge fan of big band jazz, so watching this concert live was like the epitome of music for me. Like I said in another comment, imagine if Duke Ellington’s or Artie Shaw’s bands were still around… I would do anything to listen to a live version of “Take the A Train”, haha!
@@piggymansvintagevault UA-cam does have an incredible collection of original recordings and I've been listening continuously. The history behind this band is so interesting and seeing the live performance was almost poignant.
Trust me, they are AMAZING. I’m probably gonna go also to the Glenn Miller Festival down in Clarinda, Iowa on June! They, alongside many other big band jazz and swing groups will be there!
Thanks for posting this...great job! I've seen the GM band a number of times and their xmas show last Dec. in Toronto. Every song is a terrific trip down memory lane to an era of beautiful songs with touching lyrics.
I agree! The sound was simply amazing, and I’m rather sad that the sound capture wasn’t as pristine as the real deal was. I’m actually gonna head over to the Glenn Miller Festival in June, so I’ll make sure to record there too!

Factoid: "Tail End Charlie" is an AAF song that honored the tail gunners in planes like a B-17 or B-24. They had one of the most important - and seriously-dangerous - positions in a bomber, defending against fighter attacks from behind the plane.
Gone. Reduced to atoms. Jokes aside, I don’t actually know. I think most modern big band ensembles (including this one) don’t include guitars in them anymore.
Loved those Jerry Gray originals and arrangements! He was my father! Great job!

Her stunning version of “These Foolish Things” is nothing but breathtaking!

Maestro and orchestra excellent,congratulations,Thank you
so nostalgic!
80 years later-- THE MILLER SOUND LIVES FOREVER!
So true! It would be nice if, say… Duke Ellington’s or Artie Shaw’s Orchestras were also still around…
The track listed as "Unknown Intermission Track" is Strike Up the Band, arranged by Bill Finnegan.
Beautiful,pleasant,Thank you

Seeing them in July in Michigan. Can't wait.

Indeed, may the Glenn Miller Orchestra live on forever! It’s survived 80-ish years, so here’s to another 80!

Yep! The bandleader mentioned this before playing the song. I was deciding whether to include that part or not.
Wouldn't it be great if big band music became popular again playing Benny Goodmen, Glenn Miller, and all the other greats?
I wholeheartedly agree! As a teenager, nothing would make me happier than to see the big band genre become as popular as it was 80-so years ago!
