videos like this are so validating. i struggle so much more to 13k routines because i’m adamant at being relatively close to the choreo. so when routines like this are THAT broken, it hits harddd
I think the trick is that with maps from earlier games on the Wii, the tracking was designed for the Wiimote, which had a lot of limited movement compared to the switch joycon. Whenever i want to megastar maps like this, I usually keep my wrist relatively straight as if I was playing on the wii
When I play a map that's considered as "broken" I play it a few times to know the choreo and if there's parts that the scoring is bad I find a trick and once I cracked it I feel more confident. For me if I just scraped megastar like 12055 then I'm happy if I get 13k on a broken map then I'm shocked but also proud ❤
Thanks for this video, I think it shows what I've been saying a long time, even before JD23; it's not "broken", it just work differently than how it used to work on other platforms that might've been more popular in the community. I can definitely enjoy JD without a megastar or else I would've stopped playing long ago, always been a Switch player and a megastar wasn't easy before but it got harder now that it's the exclusive platform. As someone who has always neglected the leg part of a routine because I didn't need to be accurate in that regards I often feel I manage to get decent scores. I don't know that I have a set score to be proud, I aim to at least get 5 stars, a superstar if possible but on extremes even a 4 star will be perfectly fine... all in all if I'm having fun then it's all good!
when it comes to "broken tracking" I'd rather think of routines like she's got me dancing or cosmic girl, where the game is very harsh and gives little points to the "follow the coach" approach, vs ones where the game is being very lenient and giving you points for nothing. I'd say that when it comes to "fixing", legacy/older songs should be prioritised (cuz they were made with the 5* max goal not MEGA/7*)
Here are my answers to all the questions at the end of the video: -A lot, I really hate not being rewarded for doing the coreography right, or getting a high score without knowing it, just to learn it and barely improve my score. -It depends. If it's my first time dancing to a song, I like dancing to it a few more times, knowing the coreo better, and only then getting a megastar. If I know the coreography by heart, it's really frustrating, I really can't enjoy it. -Any coreo where you have to perform "tricks" to get a good score. -No, I would still play it and try my hardest to at least megastar it, however frustrating it could be. -My 13.1k on judas, it's my highest score on one of my favorite songs ever
I definitely agree with your view!! I prefer having fun than not having it... You should watch the Game Theory video about this game if you haven't watched it yet, I think it explains it really well
Here are my answers to your questions: -Tracking on a song is honestly the most important part of a choreo in jd for me. I don’t like it when I don’t get a high score even though i know the dance very well and I’m sure I did the moves perfectly. I care about scoring so I wouldn’t have fun if I get mostly oks on moves I did right. -No, I’m a perfectionist and have spent so many months trying to megastar every song in jd23 including jd+. She’s Got Me Dancing was my last song and I recently megastarred it, tysm you helped me get it! I can’t enjoy a choreo if I didn’t reach my goal for it yet. -A broken routine for me is a dance that has terrible tracking. Some songs do have a few moves that are hard to score a perfect on but that doesn’t mean it’s broken. A broken routine would have most of the dance have poor tracking, it would be very broken if I need to learn different ways to score such as twisting my arm, changing the speed, etc… -If a song is extremely broken such as circus extreme, Rabiosa, Let me love you, and more, I don’t want it to be added unless they fix the tracking. However, I don’t mind them adding a few slightly broken songs such as Single ladies, Kaboom Pow, Copacabana, etc…
Definitely. I am trying to actually dance without any tricks, it is hard and I can’t even make 5 stars in most of the dances. Yes, it is a bit boring when u see someone on the group who gets megastar in all songs, but importing thing is dancing here and it is so fun. Also it is the only sport I am actually doing 😂 So keep on keepin on dancing without any care of making megastar 😊
From what I can tell, 13k songs are basically perfectly executed moves where maybe one or two moves can be less than perfect. I’ve done this only a couple of times, so on most days I just take the L and keep playing. 😄
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO IT’S REALLY HELPFUL. It’s so impressive that you found these tricks to megastar that song. Btw do you have any general tips to megastar broken songs?
I can try! A lot of the time, a broken song can be broken down into 3 different things: timing, hardness & technique. I always start with timing. MANY songs in JDU/JD+ are slightly early or slightly late. When songs are still giving me difficulty, then I try to test the hardness. Some songs look like the coach is doing the move extremely hard, but the controller likes the move soft, or vice versa. Lastly, sometimes technique comes into play. you can see in the dancing section of the video that I twist my wrist when bringing my arm above my head. sometimes it just matters where your controller is facing. you can be doing the move 100% correctly but if the controller isn't facing the right way, it will give you an X. Sorry If that doesn't help much, but I also have a video on "controller confidence", that goes into the scoring of just dance a little more in-depth. I hope what I have said helps!
@@AmberfallJD tysm this information is so much better than what everyone else says. I’ve been trying to megastar all broken songs in JDU but i can only do a few. This will help me megastar the rest! Thank you!
My opinion is that JD scoring can’t be fully fixed, cause it’s limitations of the hardware. On Wii, Switch and phone, JD can track only your hand, so it’s only your choice, dance like on a screen or use tricks. Or buy Xbox with Kinect to play with body tracking😂 Also, is it just me or scoring in early games was more strict?
If you interested, I still play on Wii😂 (I’m not interested in newer songs or online functions). For songs which are not available on Wii I use JD Now.
Your comparison videos actually pointed out 1 thing: 'sharp' movement! I felt like a lot of Just Dancers haven't realised that the motion tracking in later games got better - your movement has to be precise in terms of placement, force, speed and on beat. The reason the "without trick" didn't work because, from your example, the body control wasn't good and 'sharp' - for example, you flicked your arms but right at the end of the movement, your hand wasn't stiff and shaked a bit which granted a lower score. Also from my observation, JD has changed the tracking system significantly - we can't play JD23 like we play JD3. The latest title emphasize on the flow of the dance - the higher scores only granted when you pulled of consecutive details of dance moves; while in earlier titles, you only need to do the correct "first pose" of the dance moves. Older maps feel broken on newer titles is because of the tracking is different or the scoring system failed to acknowledge that. I hope Just Dancers don't feel discouraged to master the dance moves and enjoy the dance without tricks - getting Megastars on She Got Me Dancing on JD+ while immersing yourself into it is possible! :D
this is such good insight but isn’t reflective of peoples common experience. it’s definitely your own well informed perspective but not others’. i cant even 4 star it while dancing to it accurately but that’s because i’m not too keen on focusing on my wrist position, im focused on my legs and arms only most of the time. besides, dancing isn’t just about 100% accuracy, it’s about expression! by focusing on the intricacies over anything else, we forget the most important thing: having fun! for example, kinect players were able to put more energy into it without risking their score being affected. i mean even with a song broken like this on both consoles, you could still get into it while tricking it! that’s what made it fun imo.
@@kaylaur98 you have a good points too. The later games' intense accuracy is great for people who like challenge or into esports. But at times, we really love to have fun, express ourselves with easier scoring.
