Long Long Honeymoon
Use teflon plumbers tape on the threads of your hose connections. Both ends. Cheap. No leaks.
@@CatFromFL if the hose or camper has plastic connectors and you use teflon tape you can easily over tighten the joints and crack the fitting. The rubber gaskets should seal between the hose ends and the water supply. Without tape also the gaskets could be dry rotted and may need to be replaced. Teflon tape isn't a bonding agent. Its generally used on galvanized steel pipe fittings so you can tighten them sufficiently and 10 years later they will come back apart easy if you need to replace some piping.

Yes, I agree! In all my research I don't think I've ever seen a blog or vlog explain from start to finish how to set up (which doesn't mean there aren't any others ;-) ). I see many of the same components or accessories for the different steps and it sometimes seems overwhelming. This was a great, and very well explained. step-by-step video. Thank you Long Long Honeymoon!
If you use a water regulator at the hose spigot it will stop the drips(too much pressure on hose). But be sure to disinfect the hose spigot with a Bleach disinfecting spray before you connect any fitting on the hose spigot. Don't forget the inside and on the threads. I've sat in my site and watched people stick their sewer hose up over it, kids mouth it, dogs lick it and people wash their dishes and hair while making direct contact with the faucet spigot.I use a spray bottle with 25% bleach to spray it down and let it make contact for a few min before hooking up.

We have a Y shaped regulator one side for our white water hose and the other for our black tank hose. Always spray all connectors with a bleach disinfected. I've seen so many campers cross contaminate...UGH!
We just had some children. They do all the work now. They have it all set up by the time I'm out of the bathroom. I highly recommend having some.

The first thing I do when I get to my campsite is check the power at the power pedestal. I use a tester made by Prime Products to check for polarity, voltage, open ground and open neutral. If anything isn't right, I ask for another site before spending any time to park the trailer on the site.

This is more than a great idea, it can be a life saver. We pulled up to a site that had been wired wrong and plugged in. I was shocked pretty hard while lighting the water heater. Good thing one of our kids didn't hop up onto the stairs shoeless.I bought a tester and never plugged in again without testing first.

Yes I do it too. This also gives the battery a break so it doesn't have to operate the jack and stabilizers. You can also get the AC running on those summer days. Water is next so I have relatively clean hands. Sewer comes last. (I'm good at measuring distance visually )
Sean & kristy, really enjoy your videos and the humor you folks put into them. I have been rv'ng since 1970. After we tear down and packup the rig. Before i even make a move to get into the truck i always make a complete walkaround the trailer and look at it from top to bottom for anything we may have forgotten like antenna up etc. I look under the trailer also. It only takes a few seconds to do a walkaround and i do it so i windup at the drivers door. That way i know i'am ready to travel. I developed this as a habit from my days (21 years) in the Air Force as a flight engineer. I would always make a complete walkaround on the aircraft especially in vietnam. Thats the last place you want to miss something. Keep up the great videos as I look forward to each installment. Hope to meet you someday on the rv road. Niles Michigan.
If you guys are reading these as I hope, I want you to know what a pleasure it has been for me, a retired 61 yr old fart. My wife is looking at retirement in 4 yrs and that’s when I hope we get to take her all over as I have already seen and lived in most of the USA. I was trying to say that you too have put out some of the BEST videos I’ve had the pleasure of seeing.i watch a lot of utube nowadays because of a heart attach that has slowed me down a bunch.ive camped for years when raising two boys now I look forward to doing it again just in a little more style this time,,,lol. I do wonder if we would be happier in a class A motor home or another trailer as we have had one of those with the kids. Again many thanks for such a well done series of camping videos.
our first camp site we watched other people set up. And laughed 2 years later we were doing the same things. Very well worth the money is a good astro turf in front of the door. Keeps the stuff out of the RV.
This video is what most of us who tune in to these vlogs need. I've noticed so many have unfortunately shifted from the purpose of informing new/postulating rv-ers. Watch us mountain bike. Watch us kayak. Watch us build our house, or eat in a restaurant. RV lifestyle videos should focus on the intricacies of the lifestyle and not much else. How to hook up. Tire care. Towing discussions. Use of solar, generators, kitchen appliances like propane/electric fridge. I ride a trail bike. I fish out of my kayak. I know how to eat at restaurants. I would like to get into rv camping and that is what I want to see and learn. Thank you for an informative video.
Thanks. Truth be told, creating this sort of video is a LOT of work. We do preparation beforehand, and the final presentation is edited so as to most effectively deliver the info. It's actually a crazy amount of work to post on UA-cam with minimal compensation in return, and that's why most people are (understandably) not going to do it. It's just a whole lot easier to upload unedited video of biking and kayaking and eating... ;)
I like to use leveling blocks under my stabilizer Jacks and the tongue jack so they don't sink in .

I just bought a small camper trailer and honestly have lost sleep worrying about setting it up. I am taking it out for the first time in two weeks to the Big Bend area of Texas. I witnessed the dealer give me a demonstration and could not remember a damn word of what they said the next day. So I began hunting for UA-cam videos and came across yours--informative, relaxed, fun. Thank you so much for instilling some confidence in me!!
One thing that has been very helpful for setting up and stabilizing our trailer is to carry (7) 8" x 8" cedar blocks cut about 12-14" long. I use 2 under the stabilizers furthest from the ground, 1 ea under the other stabilizers and the last on under the hitch. These are very stable so when stacked on each other and you won't have to extend the jacks so far. Cedar does not absorb moister and they are light weight. Also keeps your jacks out of mud etc and provides a very stable base for you trailer.

I keep my black water hose, extensions and connections in a rubbermaid bin along with some bleach wipes, hand sanitizer and a plastic bottle of water (to immediately clean hands and arm should any black water get on them. Not that that has happened to me). Clean the bin routinely.

I've been a subscriber for a long time now... even before we purchased our Airstream and the best tip you've ever given was the walkie talkie tip and communicating Left from right ie driver side passenger side. That really stuck with us and we use that tip every time we hitch and un-hitch. Best tip for staying together too. A REAL marriage saver!

Being newbies we didn't quite understand the importance of "never pulling into a campsite in the dark." Even a nice RV park. So off we go taking our time and we arrive at the KOA in Flagstaff Arizona PITCH DARK. If you've ever been to that campground you know where I am going with this story.
Rocks, trees, tight turns and narrow road. oh did I mention the giant TeePee right behind the place they want us to park? Yeah... so armed with a site number and a map, we proceed to park for the night. Ahhhhhhhh ok we can do this. We pull up and already have drawn a small crowd, thinking they are looking at our awesome Airstream I grab the walkies from the side compartment and turn them on. I step out and check out the site we need to back into. (Just like you guys taught us)
Oh Jeeze... huge boulders to stay away from, large trees line the site, the power is on one side and the sewer hook up on the other. Then the tree on the side... possibly right where our door should be... Did I mention the TeePee? So I start with my directions using ALL your amazing tips we had practiced in our driveway but not actually tried yet, hubby put it in reverse and started backing up. Me quietly encouraging him on the walkie talkie. Telling him to turn the wheel to the passenger side... ok slower... slightly to the Driver side... Straighten the wheel... a little farther... (A larger crowd formed... what the heck?) I did all the things you suggested, looking up at the trees and with my flashlight looking down on the ground... Did I mention the TeePee? ok.. great job... I check to see if we could open the door... Looking good Hon.. I think you got this... As I walk backwards almost to the Giant TeePee. "Perfect! Put it in park babe"
Our bumper literally only 12 inches from the teepee. We even had to unhook from the truck and squeeze in off the street. When we turned off the engine there was actually an applause from our neighboring campers... I grinned... so proud of Hubby. Even tho it was a little embarrassing... Keep in mind it was pitch dark. The next morning I made coffee and we stepped outside.. Hubby almost fainted when he saw how tight the site was. He said he would have been so nervous to back into that spot had he known he was parking into a spot the size of a postage stamp! LOL Rocks and trees just inches from the delicate aluminum skin of the Airstream. And the giant TeePee! He said where did that come from? LOL
Moral of the story?
Listen to the advice of seasoned travelers.

This was before we'd figured out walkie talkies, etc. Pitch dark, tight site, backing in past obstacles (trees). It was nerve wracking and scary... Great video. I'll add a 90 degree adapter where the hose connects to the RV. Take the stress off that plastic connection. A carpenter level isn't that big and it helps to make sure you are in the same zip code with level. And yes it does get faster with experience. I can park, hook up and open a beer in about 5 minutes now, in the dark.
Remember that there are 6 sides to the camper when backing in don't overlook the underside (drag) and the top side. (Low branch)

Great video. Been an RVer for 45 years. Always something to learn. Don't forget to keep your fridge level or it can burn out. I put label maker stickers on my slides, about 3/4" square, with the distance the slide will come out and just walk around with my measuring tape. I find it more convenient than using a premeasured stick as I have four slides with different extensions.
You should always install the pressure regulator at the source faucet to reduce the pressure and "Leaks" on your hose and fittings.

I also always did this until I did what everyone either has or will do - I left my $35 regulator on the faucet. I'm sure the next guy really appreciated the "gift". Now it always goes on the camper end of the hose.
@@josephsolomito4703 You can have your regulator on the "correct" end of the hose. After I left our regulator at the last campground, I made it a rule that I remove the regulator from the spigot, and leave it on the hose when I store it. Never had that problem again, after 10 years.
Joseph Solomito Attach the regulator to the filter and a short stub hose to the spigot. The more you screw/unscrew hose fittings, the more they leak.

Oh, the first thing to check if your H2O hose is leaking at the connections is to make sure the little rubber gasket is still inside the female brass connector. I carry spares because I've lost them when disconnecting - not noticing that they were stuck to the male end or just fell out when pulling the female end away
I found this video to be a bit of a stress reliever. I'm going to my first campground tomorrow by myself for a crash course set up. And then moving into my camper full time the following week and pulling it halfway across the US. I'm so excited for this adventure but the reality of how unprepared I am is starting to kick in. Just completed our first year with a trailer and my list of newbie learnings to avoid frustration are: 1. Plan plenty of time to leave the house. It amazed and frustrated me how long it took to get on the road at first. 2. Leave early enough to not arrive at the campsite when it is dark. It takes a while to set up on dirt lots, add darkness and you have a recipe for newbie disaster. So try to plan on getting there early enough to set up in light. 3. Bring a snack for before you set up the campsite. Don't bank on making dinner right when you arrive. Hungry people get angry more easily. 4. Watch all the videos you can to learn about safety and trailer tips. The ones Sean and Christy have put together helped greatly.
we are re-living our memories of rv life thru your channel. the campsite setup video reminded us of having to shower after the "workout" ! (florida in summer) one more tip to add to the setup routine. .. take the time to apply insect repellent to yourselves BEFORE starting. Lessons learned. M & M

For those of us with slide-outs, NUMBER ONE is make sure they miss the trees! Lol Real pain to get all setup, then realize a tree is too close! S#%#!
ha! Great point. We don't have slideouts but I'm sure that is a major concern.
I have a PVC pipe cut to about 3" longer than the slide out moves. Before I unhook I give it a quick check. If the pipe fits I'm good to go!
I've been guilty of doing this more than once! All leveled up, hooked up and disconnected from our 5th wheel then go inside to do the slides...huge tree only a few inches too close. Hopefully no children are within hearing!!!
I stand with my back to the trailer and stick my right arm out. I find that is a slightly longer distance than the slide moves.
The other thing with our trailer is it has two slides, on the same side of the trailer. We find that to be sure the trailer is level we have to put the slides out before we disconnect. If we level with slides in then put them out the trailer is no longer level.

Watching people set up a trailer has made me very happy with my decision to have gotten a cabover truck bed camper. It feels like quite a few less steps.
You should try the Anderson levelers. They save a lot of time.
My goal is a fifteen minute set-up, but have done it in 10 in a rainstorm. My wife is disabled, so it is a one man show. I find positioning is the most important, much more difficult doing it alone. I try to park where I think best, with a little room to add the wheel jacks. Once n postion, it is a flurry of events, but hopefully 15 minutes later we are jacked and comfortable. Love your videos, keep them coming.

Well let's see how to put it. Winds lots of them on the way out Thursday, 5 hr drive turned into 8 hours. Stormed that first night. Friday day was great. Friday night I got the stomach flu. Saturday I slept. Sunday went home a day early. Needless to say totally memorable!!!!!!
Great video. Something we do that you didn't mention is to carry a can of Lysol spray with us. I spray the camp's water connection and run some water before we hook up the hose, just on the chance that the people before us rinsed out their sewer connector under the water pipe and had a little backsplash.

Good advice on the awning. I was sitting in my RV watching TV and didn't realize that a storm was about to hit. My awning blew back across the top of the RV and completely destroyed the brackets and ripped the canvas.It cost $600 to replace! Very hard lesson to learn.Thanks for the great tips! Hi guys. Love your channel. The hose washer is the primary water hose seal, so make sure you have a good one or two in the female end. It's a ten cents thing. The threads are are not a seal.
In addition to the washer I would suggest Teflon tape. Goes along way on pack up, and can avoid a stuck hose for ~12 cents

We use plumbers tape on the water connections to eliminate drips. We also use the pressure regulator and an elbo joint on the Airstream so the hose hangs strait down. We always supervise each others work. I do outside and she inspects. She prepares inside and I inspect. We also carry a Flush King in a plastic box that can clear any black tank clogs. Some honey wagon services do not rinse the black tank and the result is clogged pipe. Pull the black tank valve open and nothing comes out YIKES! Flush King pushes water UP from the sewer connection to clear the clog. Thanks for another very informative and entertaining video!
When we would go camping in my moms trailer. We use to use Velcro straps around the awning arms after they r close before u head out. We had one where the awning didn't catch all the way. After that we got the straps and never had that problem again. It only takes a extra minute to have peace of mind.
My wife and I are brand new to rving world and we get our new Reflection on June 6th. We have watch many of your blogs and they are so helpful and fun. You guys have made us You Tube smart and just need to get out there and get the feet wet.
In an unheated 81 mm mortar track in the middle of a cold German winter I slept on the cold steel floor in my sleeping bag. We were on maneuvers 2 weeks from our last shower, tired and sick, and the driver parked on a hill for the night. Now you would think that in a frozen world sleeping on a cold steel surface that the floor being on an incline wouldn't bother, but it did. First it was a fairly serious hill, the track had a mortar in the middle of the floor, and contorting into position around it was hard enough without changing head to feet during the night so the blood could flow back to the other end for a while. I agree, it matters. :)
I have found that placing your water filter at the spigot at the outlet end of your water pressure regulator helps keep your hose internals cleaner and leaving the ends of all three open during storage helps mitigate molds from forming. Love your site. Very informative and funny LOL.
I would use that water pressure regulator at the spigot which might help your hoses last longer and leak less. The built-in regulator protects your RV but perhaps there have been times that your hoses were over-pressurized and led them to leaking at some point later on. Otherwise, I quit buying the cheap-o hoses from the big box camping stores and started to buy the somewhat pricier options and they've been much better for me. I have a heated hose and that one is rock solid but kind of a pain to deal with so although I could use it in the summer too I don't like to do so.
Being overly cautious when my wife and I first started camping with a trailer, we assigned primary and secondary roles for setup and tear down. Each of us would double check each other’s work with a walk around. There have been several occasions where this double check saved our behinds. Whether forgetting to fold in the stairs, make sure the doors are locked to even forgetting to latch the hitch! Mine was hooking up and being in a rush forgetting to retreat the jack! Luckily her walk around caught it!

Purchased our Airstream last year after being tent campers for ever. I wish I had seen this sooner, specifically, your discussion on how to open the tongue latch (forward and up). I've owned and used a lot of utility trailers, but have never seen this type of latch before our AS. When I got our rig home, I spent 2 hours trying to lift the latch straight up (without pushing it forward a bit first). Web searches disclosed almost no information. I actually pulled the pin on the hitch shank to move my truck and continued to work on the rig with ball/shank still connected. TY for your series, it is fun to watch.
We just recently got a new Airstream! On our FIRST trip out we quietly backed into what look like a nice little hedge surrounded by soft green leaves. We continued to pull forward and reposition the trailer for a better view . While my husband thought everything is dandy , I felt my heart sinking like I was in the twilight zone or something ! There before me was a huge dint in our new trailer! So to say the least , our maiden voyage was big disappointment! She is all fixed now but will never assume there isn't something to run into while inching along.

I sure am glad you mentioned how much work it is for newbies. I've been out since Nov 2016, 5 months, and sometimes I'm very exhausted at the end of the day. Of course now I'm heading to Alaska for 4 months where I'm going to celebrate my 70 birthday on August 25, 2017. You are invited to my party! I'll be in Seward. Long Long Honeymoon I do have a question. So far my plan is to take the ferry from Bellingham WA to Haines, That's where my planning stops for the next 4 months. Do you think I will be able to find plenty of places to camp or should I make reservations now. I'm worried about tourist season. Although it looks like it has plenty of open space.

Well, when we went to to Alaska we were late in the season, so I can't speak with authority about the height of tourist season.... HOWEVER, in Alaska you can pretty much overnight park anywhere you want (within reason) so you shouldn't have trouble finding a place to stop. You might want to call a few campgrounds up there and see what they suggest.

I was near San Diego and it was a great day. I put up my screen shelter to cover the picnic table and did not put the corner stakes in the ground we left and of course a storm blew in when we came back my whole unit was 5 campgrounds down the road

We just got a new camper (to us) last fall and I am glad to know those are stabilizer jacks and not leveling jacks! That would have messed us up for sure! THanks for the advice.

What a God send you are! When my wife and I were dating 33 years ago, we said that we wanted to travel when we retired. 33 years went too fast and I was injured badly at work and will retire at 55 yrs old. Gonna be able to travel now, but I have no clue how or where to start with an RV because we have tent camped locally in Southern California including Malibu where you mentioned. Camping and Surfing with our boys. Now Home will be Carson City Nv. area, where I will have a small Fabrication Business where I will make Industrial Furniture and a UA-cam channel, and travel as often as possible.
Maybe we will cross paths one day, and we can thank you in person for teaching us the simple way...

I would recommend that you don't disconnect the last safety chain until after yo raise the trailer up off the ball just in case the unthinkable happens. Sometimes you have no choice but to setup on a less than perfect grade. Even worse is a slope towards the to vehicle.
Good idea. We've never experienced any kind of trailer rollaway, but I'm sure it would be terrifying!
I had a pair of wheel chocks sink into the soft ground and my trailer took off dragging me hanging on to the safety chain hollering stop!
I now only use the wedges that go between the wheels and put them in place before disconnecting from my pickup.

Is there a reason to unhitch, if you're just going to have to hitch it back up, anyway, when you leave?
NavyJax2: You may have to lower or raise the tongue to level the rig from front to back. If you are lucky and the rig is level while hitched, there is really no need to unhitch if you don't plan on driving the tow vehicle anywhere.
Hi Sean & Kristie - You may have never seen it, but I can assure you it does happen, because it happened to me. One of the very first times I used my travel trailer it slide forward about a foot. The amazing part was that it was chocked with 4 stabilizing jacks and the tongue jack down! The site was very sloped downhill towards the tongue and soft silty soil that the chocks could not get any good bite in. As soon as we got home I bought one of the wheel to wheel brakes that you showed (from the friend in Utah) and never had any more issues. Till the day I sold that trailer I was reminded of the incident as the curbside rear diamond frame stabilizer was never quite the same after being dragged that foot or so.
My first campground error: arrived at dusk, plugged in. But had no power evening and night. Discovered the post had an On button!

Always a good idea o turn OFF the pedestal breaker before plugging/ unplugging to prevent arcing and plug/ receptacle damage. If no breaker at pedestal, turn off MAIN in RV power panel. I also like silicone grease on my plug prongs :-)
Us too. But the host said, try your microwave; if it works, your power pole is on, if not...… go flip the switch, silly.

After we get situated and level side to side, I check the power with an Electrical Management System (ours made by Progressive Industries). At least twice we've had bad power at the pedestal and either changed sites or, at a KOA in Oregon, there were no more sites so they came out and re-wired the pedestal. Recently I started checking the water, too. I run a little into the ground and then run some into a open-mouth quart container, look at it and smell it. This led us to a site change. We use a filter at the tap, and for the water we'll drink, another filter on the counter. We disinfect the hose spigot, too, with a clorox wipe.

Excellent video! Many great tips for those just getting started. I learned my lessons the hard way and it's good to see some tips for beginners. One opinion I might add regards the wheel chocks. I have had my rv roll twice. First was next to a lake and if it hadn't stopped it would have been a long drop to the water. The second was in my back yard and I thought I was going to get squashed when the chocks slid. The plastic wheel chocks are junk and will slide. Wood blocks will also slide. I use the accordion style that goes between the tires. Fool proof and NEVER have to worry. Take NO chances to save a few bucks. To heck with the RV. Your life may depend on it.

I am using Anderson leveler. It both levels and chocks the wheels. There is a new hose available called Zero-G. It is very flexible and is drinking water safe, a 50 foot hose can be easily put in about a 6x12 inch space. I carry a Y gate to connect to the hose connection at the camp site so I can connect a garden hose for quick cleanups and it allows me to depressurization the potable water hose before I disconnect it from the trailer.

We are so new we still have all the stuff we have bought for our new 2018 Classic sitting in our living room. Enjoy your videos! We graduated from a 20 foot keystone mini to a 35.11 foot Forest River monster with auto everything. We enjoy the size once we get setup but the pulling part not so much. Hope to see you on the road.

We have just taken our new 30' International Serenity down to Destin Florida for a week. Our first trip and all went well. I've watched every video you guys have produced and they helped a lot. This video had good info how you set up a camp site. In Destin we stayed at a RV Resort that had level concrete pads with full hook ups. We learned how our grey tank fills in 2 days while the larger black tank can go 3-4. Good advice on always bringing your awning in while your away. Again, nice video and very well edited, your a pleasure to watch. I'm always excited when I get the email notification that there is a new Loloho video!!
Please do a video on washing the Airstream. I was surprised how my dealing made a real point in how to wash the exterior. Use microfiber mitts or sponge, rinse thoroughly first, wash with the grain of the aluminum, use dawn dish soap, dry with towel before it dries on its on, wash in the shade. Maybe you could show us how to unstick a window that is stuck to the seal. Also, I'm still a little confused on the best way to keep my batteries from going dead. Do you disconnect the negative cables?, do you just make sure you plug into your truck or shore power every couple weeks or so? Do you hook up a battery tender and leave it while it's at the storage location? My dealer tech told me if I do nothing and leave the trailer in storage for a month the batteries will most likely drain even with the battery connection switch set to store.

I have a leveling ball on the front of my trailer that I can see in the rear view mirror. I also have a tapered block about 6 ft. long that I can back up on and stop when the ball is centered.

Had a scary moment once with a downhill slope in a site. I put my BAL extended chock and a standard wheel chock only on one side. Unhitched the trailer and BAM trailer rolled back about 6 feet and scared the life out of me. It was one of those bad days, on the way to the same spot that day I had experienced my first tire blow out and said hope that is the only glitch in that trip, then the trailer almost rolled away....it is funny to think about it now, but was scary when it happened.
Wow, that would scare me too. Your comment (and some others posted here) have reminded *me* of the real possibility of this happening. I will be much more cautious in the future after hearing stories such as yours. Thanks!
We had the same thing happen to us. We backed up next to a pretty little stream. The site slopped down at quite an angle and when we unhitched, the trailer started to take a little swim. To this day I have no idea what made that girl stop before taking the plunge, just glad she did. Five min. later after catching our breath over that close call we discovered that we had left the tow vehicle running with the Standard Poodle in it and he somehow managed to lock it with the keys inside. We discovered how fast AAA shows up when you tell them that your dog is locked in a running vehicle. The really scary thing is, we did all of this stone cold sober. We learned a lot of lessons that day.

Wish I had seen a lot your videos before we started camping I learned how important the chocks are when our fifth wheel rolled and the front jacks fell off the blocks fortunately no damage other than the queasy feeling in my stomach lol ❤️your videos 👍
We have a typed check list, for set up and prior to departure. This started right after I drove away with the 'batwing' antenna cranked up.
The checklist is certainly a wise idea. One time we drove down the highway with our door wide open - lol ... we need to tell that story sometime...
3218675309 driving commercial vehicles for over 25 years, I've seen many things that make you wonder how they ever forgot it. I've seen items on top of trailers that were not secured, mostly tools. Imagine being pulled over by police because a tool you left on top went through a windshield and killed someone. Please check and double check what you do before moving any trailer.
+LLH - Good thing it was already open, and didn't come open by itself. I think Airstream is maybe the only one that has a suicide door. Something that always freaked me out with ours. I generally triple checked that sucker!

One time we drove away with the bathroom window opend all the way out. We rv with my parents and after like a half an hour drive my mom called and asked me if we forgot anything. hehe Lucky we did not rip it right off.

If you are still using those levelers, you may want to consider the Anderson levelers. Much easier for us! Saves 3-4 minutes on every setup.
We are consistently frustrated at the amount of work it takes to go camping. When we are on the road for the summer (2 months) we get into a groove. Our kids help, and it is done in minutes. However, for our local weekend trips, it always amazes us that we spent many hours packing. Last weekend was our first of the season, which takes much extra time. I bet we packed and prepared for more time than we were actually camping. :) That's camping life, I suppose.

James Daubney I replaced the hitch cone two days ago because it was making a hell of a noise. Not happy with that part of the hitch.
Our second camping trip EVER we had a popup camper and a wonderful awning. Attached to the awning was the "Extension Room". Luckily there was a large class A motorhome next to us when the tornado passed by. Our poles were bent a bit but their awning was ripped off and thrown over their RV. We don't just go camping. We go adventuring. Every camping trip seems to turn into an adventure when you camp in Texas.
As far as awnings go you should mention that angling your awning for water runoff keeps water from pooling in your awning.
that first sit down and beverage are the best. im normally behind on time so were usually arriving and setting up right as the sunsets. so it works out :)

After many years of boat trailering experience, I got too careless one morning and didn't get the ball properly secured one time. Too much familiarity caused complacency. The first good bump at a small bridge bumped the trailer tongue off of the ball. Fortunately, it fell on the crossed chains and we coasted safely off to the side of the road avoiding costly and embarrassing damage.
That happened to a friend with his boat -- went over some railroad tracks and it popped off the ball! Thanks for sharing your story. I know I'm going to be paying special attention the next time we hitch (and also the next time we chock & unhitch!). Some good cautionary tales here in the comments...
Had a boat roll 50 yards down a hill after dark only by the Grace of God did it roll up on a sapling and stop!!! Chains removed ONLY after making sure tires are SECURELY scotched!
I leave that to the wife, I am apparently BLIND to obvious stuff; she also now helps me do double walkaround before driving off :-)
This video reinforces that you can with practice master all of these tasks. I'm impressed to learn that a set up can be accomplished in ten minutes. Quite a relief for who wants to do a lot of chores after a long highway drive.
a little off topic, but I noticed your using more and more aerial footage from a drone I presume.. I find that very interesting and was wondering if you could go over that topic and if you have to get permission from the Campground or whatever... are you flying it from inside the truck above you or what? just very curious. I would love to get one and fly over the Campground and get that Birdseye view of our campsites and stuff.. if you already made the video about that I apologize.. I scanned through to see but may have missed it.

I'm a 70 year old Retired Trucker with a small Toyota Motorhome Big enough for just me... and I'll be going Full time RVing soon. I have had my Motorhome for a couple of years and lived in it most of that time... just parked in my shop here in Oregon...haha... So I am comfortable living in a small place...I just have to get back out on the road.
