What is the dimensions of your hives and the hard wood you use to construct them? They look great, do you know where I could find more information or plans to make one? Just found your channel, you’ve got yourself a beautiful block there. Looking forward to seeing your progress.
Our hives are based on the OATH hive design - have a look here: sugarbag.net/resources. I hope that helps, I’ll ask Paul for more details and get back to you soon.
Our wood is hardwood, not pine and our walls are thicker than the OATH dimensions on the sugarbag website. We also paint them with burnt engine oil to keep the ants away.
I don’t know the ph but we do have the strips here. Maybe we could test it one day. Why did you want to know the pH level? We do sell it but it is way more expensive than regular honey. Also depends on your location.
@@Tinachimneycreekfarm A larger species has a bigger honey bag, so the way to harvest it is a little different, we use a vacuum pump to suck up the honey, so that the bee colony is just filling the honey
We build the hives and sell them full of bees :) The species we have now usually only like the warmer weather though, they don’t like to leave the hive until it’s around 18 degrees Celsius!
We normally sell them and deliver from Sunshine Coast to Coffs Harbour area normally! I’m not sure about Bundy but it might be worth a holiday one day! I’ll ask Paul about whether there might be a courier available or not, they pretty heavy so not sure about posting, would probably cost a fortune but I’ll see what Paul says and get back to you :)
@@theorganised_farmgal okay well we are in Brisbane too so it is quite late in the season now so we could provide a hive with bees by late Feb otherwise it will have to be next season (October). Let us know :)
We should have a group on telegram to share techniques and experiences about stingless bees. I have 3 hives and last week I captured another 2 in trap hives. It is an addictive hobby
Thanks for your feedback but these are the right size hives for Australian native bees. We build our hives on the OATH beehive design (Original Australian Trigona Hive)
Fantastic informantrery commenting👍🌷
I’m glad you enjoyed and hope it was useful 😁

The sounds of a typical Aussie backyard 😍😍 I love Australia
Yes! Lots of birds in the background! So loud 😂
I'm very interested in getting a hiver for my backyard in Brisbane, any idea how to go about finding one or attracting one naturally?
We could probably sell you one. We have hives in Brisbane.
Do you know pH level of this honey? And are you selling it? I would love to buy it.

How much honey was it from one hive?
We get about 1kg of honey per year per hive if we’re lucky!
Enjoyed watching this video, very good, what type of trigona honey bee is it...? Salsm is a hobby from Vidofam Indonesia
Glad you enjoyed it! These are Tetragonula bees.
Where can I buy some of the bee and hive, I am located in the US.
Unfortunately we can’t send them to the US. You will need to find someone local to you. Good luck!
In Indonesia we have a larger trigona species, one of which is Trigona Itama, he can produce 1 kg of honey per month
Wow that is a lot. Our natives are only tiny and don’t produce a lot of honey.

Holy cow!
Are you selling that honey ? :)
I would love to have native bees! Do you just build the hives and hope for the best or can you buy them?
