I play D&D with some of my fathers colleagues and I remember the first time we all played together, I can't remember which beginners quest we played though. My father is the DM for all our games and this was the first time in over 20 years he'd been the DM for a D&D game. So we chose our characters and I got left with an Elven Mage, two other guys were a Halfling Rouge and a Dwarven Warrior. We were protecting this cart on a path through a woodlandwe but we ended up being stopped just before we crossed a bridge by a pack of goblins. I chose to stay to the back, while the boys were up front doing their thing. They kept fucking up each one of their turns once a wolf mounted goblin came bounding down the path towards us. The Halfling shot an arrow, missed the target completely and hit the back of the Dwarf's helmet, disorientating the poor guy. The dwarf missed a turn so the halfling fired a second arrow, shot and killed the wolf which landed on top of the goblin that was riding it. Once the dwarf got the chance to kill the remaining goblin he fucking missed and his weapon just went flying out his hands. Needless to say, my character was holding back a wheeze all throughout the encounter. So my Elf ends up being the only resort, with a small blade at their disposal. I ended up, and I shit you not, rolling a natural 20. We all pissed ourselves laughing.
