As a music theory nerd and a metalhead, Starset's heavier songs are always a joy to listen to. Rise and Fall had a bunch of metric modulation, moving between 4/4 and 7/4 time signatures, while this song switches between major and minor tonality every few measures. If and when I make any music of my own, I'll definitely be taking some inspiration from these guys :D
I mean the VI in a major key is quite common in video game music. 4/4 and 7/4 are not, however.
Still, I really like that this song, in the constant guitar attacks, they tend to phase out of the pulse, instead of attacking in quarter or eight notes, the guitars attack in dotted eights, causing a kind of 3:2 polyrhythm for a few moments.
Even when in 4/4, Starset makes its rhythms unstable, and I love it

Its a modulation from the minor tonic A to the major A that makes that I V I V jump sound so awesome. I needed to know why the intro does things to me. So that might be why. Sorry for the music theory

Honestly, every single song takes me on a journey into the stars.

It's kind of sad that this song has been out for 2 years, and it still hasn't reached 1,000,000 views yet....
I had listened to rock for like two months before Vessels was released and I guess that the screams and harder parts turned me off when I first listened to this song. But I rediscovered this song with the drop of the new album (been listening to Starset most of the time since) and I got mad at myself because I don't get how I had not liked it in the past. It has really nice melodies, too, and it's so unique as a whole!

Best song in Vessels. The album as a whole is probably the best out there, and each song in it is a masterpiece within itself, but this is definitely my favorite.
I love how these lyrics are actually so creative. so much better than pop culture music and rap is all about drugs and sex.

I really enjoy the part from 2:36 to 3:08 because of the way the lyrics are sung.
I saw them in concert years ago when this first came out. it's my favorite song out of the whole album and I really wanted them to play it. I remember it vividly since it's one of my favorite memories.
I'm this young teenager in a smallish room with maybe about 100 other people, it's dark and my dad has no clue who this band is. Then the lights turn on and the start of this song plays. it was the perfect way to start the night, it took me out of my nerves and made me feel like I was floating in space.
this band takes you on a journey with each song, and even 7 years later I'm still listening to them all of the time.
