Kendrick definitely only rapped from the perspective of Nipsey, as well as his own obviously. Not that of the other celebrities.
He inserted the other faces into key moments that could coincide with a lyric or two, but he never truly raps from anyone's perspective but Nip's
The others were just a reinforcement of the trappings and ills of said Culture from prominent Black celebrities who've seen extreme highs as well as lows.

The opening when Kendrick thanked his fans I felt Prince and when the verse about craking the bottle for the pain, that was definitely DMX!! Go back and listen, Kendrick channeled them too!! ✨️🖤
They way I see this (every time I've watched it) is that the first "morphs" (OJ, Kanye, Jussie, Will) have NOT "given back to the hood" but have only been damaged by it in their actions, etc. Kobe & Nipsy SHINE for their efforts "giving back" and SHOULD be the idols of the new generations.
