Having Lauri would be cool but we need one more year before we even think about moving heavy draft capital for a guy. Hopefully the Spurs are only interested if his trade value is bafflingly low.
Brook Lopez!
Trippin we can be good rn and in 5 years automatically when we sign him to a 5 year deal
I mean i think after the thunder we have an abundance of picks we cant bring everyone in having one guy who can play at the highest level and is the PERFECT fit next to wemby on offense and defense it makes too much sense i see where your coming from but these players aren't available that often
@@6ides548 that’s what I’m saying , getting Lauri makes up leap frog like 3-4 teams in the west automatically with no where to go but up
I agree finding a fit as good as Lauri would be hard to come by, but he isn’t the type of piece to make us instant title contenders. Trading for a guy on his level now would really hurt our draft position next year, and with how stacked this class is I would much rather get another guy with true star potential on a rookie deal and then go buying.
Also, never trade with Danny Ainge. He will only accept the deal if he’s fleecing you.
Spurs invasion is such a great channel 🔥🔥🔥
Markkanen is a perfect fit basketball wise, the question is can you project him as anything else but a one year $18M player? What the Jazz want in return is insane, their asking price is rumored to be Keldon Johnson, Jeremy Sochan and at least three first round picks. You'd be in a bad spot where you'd have to almost give him a quasi max extension around $40M a year. Well negociated you're looking at a 4 year $140M extension where he'd be getting payed $35M a year on average and maybe that you add a team option on the fourth year.
If not you hope to find a sign and trade that doesn't make the initial trade look too bad. There's also the fact that you can grab him in the 2025 offseason as a FA on a better deal in the $25M to $30M range on a shorter deal. And if you miss on him there will be other free agents, just to name one Donovan Mitchell.
I can't see the Spurs doing it if it's not a reasonable asking price, it doesn't fit the current strategy of the front office and I also can't see any other team offering the Jazz what they're asking. So the Spurs probably bet on the asking price dropping by the trade deadline, only the Warriors could get so desperate, the Timberwolves clearly don't have anything good enough that they'd be willing to offer, they're not doing Towns for Markkanen straight up. The Jazz realize that they could still sign and trade him in the 2025 offseason, but if he doesn't agree to an extension they'll lower their asking price and trade him before the trade deadline.
Again, let's be patient here. We could have gotten Chris Paul last offseason on over $30M a year by giving up a lot, the Warriors had to give up Jordan Poole, Ryan Rollins, a first round and second round pick, it would have at least taken Devin Vassell, Blake Wesley and a first round pick for us, or something in that range. It took Bradley Beal as a compensation for the Suns, which was one of the most valued trade targets in the league at that time, while we got Chris Paul for $11M this offseason without giving up anything. This is a win everyday in my book.
So do you give up Keldon Johnson, Jeremy Sochan and three first round picks now or something in that range, wait to trade for him at the deadline or even get him for nothing in the next FA and potentially on a better deal? And even if it's a sign & trade on a significant contract you'd still give up less than you would now.
you know why toronto traded for poetl even though he has a year left kinda stupid wasnt it? no, the traded player comes with his bird right. why dont tironto just wait for poetl in fa market? they really want a c to get one they need to pay a 20m a year, maybe you can get a 20m a year c better than poetl but not thru fa they did not have the cap with poetl bird right yhey able to acqyire the c they beeded
This is probably one of the best analysis of the situation I’ve seen so far
I wouldn't give up sochan lol f that
I can’t help but to keep refreshing my timeline on X to see when the domino will finally fall
It won't fall. Lauri Markkanen and Victor Wembanyma WILL NOT pair up. It will fail, and for good reasons, because Spurs have no reason to overpay for an expiring contract who will be a free agent very soon.
I pray we dont give up on our current strategy to appease Vic if that’s what we are going for by giving the world for a good player but bad contract. I love your input btw. It sounds spot on and I could see us waiting it out and getting a discount at the deadline.
I’d rather make zero moves than give up those draft picks.
If anything trade the whole lot of them for the rights to number one so we win the Flagg sweepstakes. GSG
Chris B Haynes sounds like he's working for the Jazz to try to push the Spurs into overpaying for Lauri M. He sounds just like a used car salesman. That totally turns me off. Let the Warriors come up with 4 first round picks if they can. Good luck with that! No way should the Spurs give a crazy package for Lauri like the Knicks did for Mikal B. The Knicks got FLEECED!!! IMO. The Spurs should go after Markannen if they can do it for a fair price. A little overpay is ok, but nothing crazy! Brooke Lopez is also an option for the Spurs.
Isn't brooke a bit too old?
We probably bet on the asking price dropping by the trade deadline.
If Jazz have to sign & trade Markkanen in the 2025 offseason,
but he declines to a extension,
they will lower their asking price and trade him before deadline.
All we have to do is WAIT.
We have learned same things from Poltl case.
The only players I’m giving up are Keldon, branham or Wesley and 1-3 firsts tops
players wise no need much since lm salary is 18m.
Paul - Castle - Vassell - Markkanen - Wemby. That would be a sick starting 5
I think Castle would be better as a bench player with Vassell staying as a 2 guard and Sochan being our 3 in that hypothetical roster. Castle would provide bench depth and would get good reps in as point guard for when CP3 retires/leaves the team! But that would definitely be a cool starting five to see.
I totaly agree with you. Great analysis.
I don't think the trade is going to happen. Not with us.
Someone in this comment section has sense. It will not occur due to the stubborn nature of Utah and Danny Ainge.
I hope it doesn’t, not with that crazy price tag. Picks, players and knew contract!
I hope we get him, space the floor for everyone. It’s taking along time for something to happen, I would take brook Lopez then
Get Lopez and then get Giannis next.
Utah fans and Danny Ainge are extremely rude and delusional people, I would much rather have Brook Lopez.
@@SIMON_SAYS_SO yep next year
We are not giving up sochan and 4 first rounds for a guy on the same level of Vassel, he doesnt move the needle enough.
hope we get Lauri man
Please no
Don't get your hopes up too high.
i rlly hope we dont, too big of an ask
Guys a comedian
The beginning of the video was fantastic. Your kitty is so adorable
That call was Ainge trying to get more from the Spurs.
jazz only can only get what spurs willing to give, i belive spurs willing to give 3 1st max. if ainge wants more he could get from warriors can give them up to 4 1st. if that is the case let the warriors have him
Yes bring Lauri on he will fit perfect with Victor
No, he won't. They are redundant.
@@vishnujayakumar1846Dude we have terrible big men besides Wemby Lauri would be perfect
100% agree!
Let’s go clan
He was a free agent a few years ago and the Spurs were linked to him. They should have got him then!
Subbed to the new channel I look out for ur content for spurs new bro keep up the great work 👍
IF we dont have to give up too much and LAURI and he can stay healthy and give me more games played HERE than he did in Utah I'm game ! I'm a fan LM.
Spurs have 15 first round draft picks over the next six years. Most first round draft picks suck. So given up for first round draft picks for Laurie is nothing. But he has to sign an extension first. We are not giving up for first rounders for one year. He averaged 26 points a game two years ago and then 23 points a game this year. we need that scoring. And he’s a good rebounder. Let’s do it if we want to be a contender.
Love Lauri and he’d fit amazing but if they want more than three 1st round picks or vassell or sochan than NO. Keldon, Branham, Collins is all I’d give away. Plus up to 3 picks but not certain picks, only some.
Perfect fit next to wemby we have hella picks having someone who can play alongside wemby should be top priority he helps defensively and offensively as a 7 footer who can space the floor next to wemby and moves around the rim well i love this move
bro's been cooking that sochan video for like 2 weeks, it bout to be 2hours long
He's an excellent fit in the team but yeah i'm worried about the cost like ideal scenario is we pick him up in like a year or two when we're more settled.
This 2025 draft could be dynasty defining for us, anything jeopardising that opportunity is a bit scary
This this this, a thousand times this. We are going into a very deep draft with potentially 4 picks. Why would we not get someone closer in age to Wemby than Lauri, who is 7 years older. I don't get this at all
People who want to trade Sochan don’t watch the games clearly, he’s gonna be so essential when the team becomes a championship roster he can be our Draymond/Rodman
Getting Lauri will be the "we're not all in on win-now but we're serious about playoffs" move.
100 agree. Id be ok with KJ , our Minnesota picks and maybe another 1st..... Max
I think at this point any major deal we go for should try to rope in the Hawks as a three team deal with Trae going to whatever other team, and us giving the Hawks their pick back and value that pick at like 2-3 picks worth lol
The only franchise out west that can become a contender 2 or 3 yrs from now are memphis, okc, dallas.
And wemby can take the ceiling of the spurs higher than ja, luka or sga can.
Timing is everything.
Spurs can be a contender very quickly. L.M. would be a HUGE piece for that goal.
I'm crossing my fingers in the hope the Spurs don't give up too much for Lauri. If the Jazz want Devin Vassell, Jeremy Sochan and some of the Spurs' 2025 draft picks from Atlanta it should be a no-go. I have confidence in Brian Wright.
clan, you always have the best takes. i dont know if ive ever disagreed with you, you know where we at and what we should and shouldnt do man. 🐐
Sochan looks like the funny weed dealer from a mid 00 stoner comedy... And he shoots like one too
Completely agree 2 to 3 first round picks max and nothing ATL or our own from 2025.
We have so many draft picks, giving up 4 in the next 7 years or so really is not detrimental. With 4 firsts this year, there is no way they all end up on the roster down the road. Now, I don't give them our pick next year without protection, but I'd still offer that. Then the Hawks pick in 2027. The hope by then, with Wemby hitting his prime, plus Vassell, Castle, etc., would be that a first rounder is expendable. Then you can't forget the 2 Wolves picks we acquired. I agree Vassell and Sochan are off-limits, though.
The Spurs are not ready to break the bank yet. We're still 2-3 years away from making a major trade or free agent signing.
That’s crazy talk! Lauri comes to SA we back in the playoffs man!
i might be too high in lauri but i think we can compete for championship wuth him. the reason is we were competetive late last season beating some playoff. maybe we did not try hard enough to win earlier like putting sochan as pg as if we were experimenting something, now if we have lauri and cp we might try a lot harder and plan a lo better
I dont think we trade for Lauri. Warriors are rumoured to be really interested as well, and they have assets. Spurs have more, I dont think we're as desperate as the Warriors are. Dealing with Danny Ainge who always has to win the trade, hes going to start at Vassell and thats probably where we draw the line. I dont see us being desperate enough.
I hope we get him just none of our three untouchables as in for me, Devon Victor and Castle also no 2025 picks
Keldon and3 first pick: I'm in.
I'm cool with that. Just not the ATL 2025
@@CLANtheSPURSfan ainge gonna ask for more picks 3 first round picks aint enough
After the 2025 NBA draft and one more year of development under the tutelage of Chris Paul, we'll be ready to be more aggressive.
I hope we’re secretly just driving up the price for the warriors to overpay for him and then we just sign him next summer in free agency
This seems so transparent to me. I think Danny Ainge has spoken with Chris Haynes. What if the warriors aren’t the aggressor at all? What if Lauri quietly asked out? There’s no way the price could be that high for a guy with only a year left on his deal. Something is fishy.
Man there’s no way we give Utah 4-5 1st rounders. Not even giving up sochan or vassell.
They'd be stupid to give up on Sochan.
He's a competitor and has tremendous upside because he's very coachable.
@@nWoPorViDa sochan is a great defender we need someone like him who is going to defend the best player and get boards basically do the nasty work instead of it being wemby
@@tmpdynomite7567 Exactly! 💯
4 x 1st Round Picks + KJ. I'd do the trade.
I also think the costs inflate for intra conference/division rivals. Ainge aside, Western Conference teams generally don't want to make another Western Conference team stronger without having them pay a toll. You might not charge that same toll for an Eastern Conference team. Thoughts?
If Utah is trying to trade him they don't want resign him to a max deal. The narrative that Ainge wins every deal is nonsense. Atlanta got 2 1st round picks and a couple role players for DJ. That's the price.
let Markannen walk or some other sucker take the trade, not touching Vassell, Castle, Sochan and 25 picks for a potential 1 year rental
Give Keldon, Sochan and two first round picks
I wonder how much input that Lauri will have in the trade. Obviously the Jazz still love him and dont REALLY want to lose him. If Im him I would rather be with SA than GS
Nice car
Jazz current first round unprotected picks:
2025 - 3
2026 - 1
2027 - 4 (Lakers protected 1-4)
2028 - 2 (wolves protected 1-4)
They have plenty of draft capital over the next three years. The Spurs 2030/2031 picks would be very enticing for the Jazz.
But the future for the Jazz currently does not look as bright as the Spurs future.
I wouldn't mind LM but only if the price is right. KJ, Malaki, and maybe the two Minnesota picks. Otherwise I prefer we get what we need out of this 2025 draft. Remember it only takes one really good draft to really change everything. The wins will come just gotta be patient.
You’d be surprised how many people expect us to be championship contenders with cp3. The best we’ll be MAYBE is play in. But I expect 11-13 in the west with more than half the games being 1-10 point losses
I'm a fan from Finland and my biggest dream is a Wemby & Lauri combo. Pretty much any elite/star player next to him would be great but Wemby is a whole different deal. Also I don't think Ainge is going to ask for a gigantic haul this time. Lauri is kind of a problem to the Jazz, they can't tank with him on the court. They should have traded Lauri after the first season in the Jazz and then tank completely this season. They got lucky this draft but it could have gone a lot worse, and that case the whole season would have been pointless.
Opinions?
I would only wanna let go of KJ at this point. I’d like to see another year or two of Sochan. & def not Vassell for Lauri that would be horrible for us
Keldon + Collins + 1 FRP
Y’all have to be more realistic. I don’t see doing a trade that doesn’t involve that 2025 1st ATL Pick. Maybe we could get away with offering them the 1st 2026 ATL pick if we give them our 1st in 2025, but I doubt it. The Warriors don’t have near the draft capital and the prospects that we have, we have the fire power to get a trade done. I have two trade scenarios in mind
1st 2025 (Own)
1st 2025 (CHI)
1st 2026 (ATL)
1st 2031 (MIN)
Jermey Sochan
Zach Collins
Maliki Branham
Or
1st 2025 (ATL)
1st 2025 (OWN)
1st 2028 (OWN)
1st 2030 (MIN)
Keldon Johnson
Zach Collins
Devante Graham
Honestly I’ll be fine with whatever happen. It would be great if he stays with Utah for a year so we can make a move in the offseason for him, but I don’t really see that happening
Vassell and Sochan should not be traded if they go for Markkanen. Maybe Keldon and Zach??? Or should wait for Lauri to be a free agent
Hey what do you think about the Spurs trading for Bobby Portis? I think he would be a good pick up and the Spurs wouldn't have to give up that much for him
Keep draft picks to give it up like they did this draft? Go for Markannen. This team needs to get bigger to compete in the West. Two or three picks is enough though. No need to sell the farm
Ngl I’m thinking on getting brook lopez frfr now
This conversation is a year early.
There is absolutely zero reason to mortgage our future and overpay when we're not even in win-now mode. We have at least one more season of partial-tank and player development before we try to win in earnest.
You don't sign a 39 year old Chris Paul to a one year deal because you're all-in on 2024-25. You sign him to help you develop guys like Castle and Wemby. He'll make you a little better next season, but he'll make you a LOT better in the seasons to follow.
The absolutely loaded 2025 draft is the pivot point for this franchise. They will go into that draft ready to load this team up. Hopefully they have some great picks from Atlanta (and their own) that they can get a potential star like Flagg. But they also probably look to spend future draft capital to add another substantial player.
2025 is the year. Not 2024. Don't skip steps.
Markennan doesn't play defense and only plays 60 games and his contract gonna 200 mil plus. I don't like it.
As long as not giving up Vassell, Castle, Sochanband Hawks unprotected picks then. Go., if not, id rather trade for Cam Johnson
I don't see it happening. The price will come down and either Danny Ainge wil refuse to trade him or Brian Wright will reject Danny Ainge.
Either way, the outcome and end result will be the same - the deal will fall through and Lauri Markkanen WILL NOT be a Spur.
Yet. Give it time.
Better to wait and get a good free agent next year. Lari isn’t worth a bunch of picks and players in my opinion. He would be a good pickup as a free agent for the Spurs.🤔🤷🏽♂️
Would it make the team fun? Yes. Is it worth what the jazz are likely asking? No. I know it’s hard to be patient, but if the chips fall in place, with the draft assets we have we could be in for a decade plus run of success. *knock on wood*
Yeah let’s skip on Lauri, next year is when we’ll get our superstar to pair with vic
Idk man if he signs immediately for 5 years ..
Only trade to give 2 or more picks and young players zion (injury prone)or jalen green (inconsistent)both young and potencial star fit will give other dimensions on Wemby game they will be not sell high both have flaws they will lower trade value if ever they get traded
Let’s not Jeopardize are chances at Copper Flagg first
No way they overpay for LM.
Giannis is maybe worth those kind of pics. No thanks on Lauri. I still think We have a shot in dealing with Atlanta too.
3 is ok, 5 is too much. Ollie’s,graham,Johnson,Malik ok.
There's a lot of very good teams right now. They made some aggressive moves clearly going for a championship run. We're not in that position. Unless it benefits us for the next 5yrs we shouldn't do it.
Lopez would be a better choice
Fax and can be a backup center
Fck all that! I want Lauri but not anywhere near what the dump Knicks paid for Bridges!
Ainge will fleece you,no
Let's throw Johnson and Collin in there too with those draft picks.
Collins or Johnson? They're almost certainly asking for Devin.
@@colin1818and we def not getting rid of him…
@@yungpthegreat - Never say never. But it would have to be a banger of a deal. And for a player a lot better than Lauri Markkanen.
Devin is an ascending player on a team-friendly sub-max deal. You've got him locked in for 5 more years. You don't just toss that into a trade like loose change.
@@colin1818 fax I’d keep Vassel and find some way to package Keldon before trading Vassel
@@yungpthegreat Collins doesn't have a lot of value right now, but next offseason he'll be an $18M expiring deal. He'll be more useful to the Spurs next season than he ever has been before.
Johnson has 3 more years on his deal but it's actually a declining rate that bottoms out at $17.5M. That's a bargain. You're not looking to trade him as an expiring but as a helpful piece for a team looking to add talent.
Nah I hope we get Markkanen we probably won’t because it’s still the Spurs we are talking about I wouldn’t give up like 4 or 5 first rounders for him but if it means 2 or 3 of them plus Sohan or Keldon I’m doing that all day it’s not even a question.
Remember the Rudy Gobert trade - Utah owns Minnesota future.
Remember the 2 first round picks we got from Minnesota for rob Dillingham.
Remember Brian Wright "Strategically Aggressive"
Look and hear me out. Danny Ainge wants Cooper Flagg badly just like he wanted Jayson Tatum and Jaylon Brown.
Trade proposal:
Jazz Receive:
Keldon Johnson
Zach Collins
Devonte Graham
Malaki Branham (we pushed his contract to the 8th to make a move)
Minnesota 2030 FRP
Minnesota 2031 FRP
(To entice Danny Ainge to fully own Minnesota future, just like the Nets)
Chicago top 10 protected first round pick 2025
Charlotte Lotto protected first round pick 2025
(Both Chicago and Charlotte will not convey lets be for real)
The right to Swap FRP Boston in 2028 or Dallas in 2030.
Spurs Receive:
Lauri Markkanen
Jordan Clarkson
Also remember Utah Jazz have 37.7m in cap space, They need to spend cap space while tanking for Cooper Flagg
I want no part of this potential trade. The Jazz are going to want way too much. The Spurs seem to be moving towards a strong defensive identity. This move won't help them with that.
Yea naw forget that!
They can have Keldon, Tre jones, and picks
But not Sochan
i'd rather the team take lopez if lauri is so expensive. it's too early to make these kind of big moves anyway. the team is not ready yet. they don't have play-in/off experience. only cp3 has it. get the team play-in experience first before making big moves for a play-off run for the next season.
Spurs have 13 first round picks over the next 6 years
4 2025 first round picks
2 2026 first round picks
2 2027 first round picks
2 2028 first round picks
1 2029 first round picks
2 2030 first round picks
Just let expired his contract first 🙂.
Lauri or Lopez? One has the experience but aged and one has talent but injury prone…..
Yeah I would choose brook for about 1-3 years (even though he is 36 yr) but I won’t mind Lauri but I don’t want him to be a starter imo.
Lineup: Chris (castle), Vassel, Castle(Julian), Sochan, wemby backup: Tre, Malachi(Wesley), Julian(Ingram), mamu(Collins)(Lauri), Lauri(collins)
Tbh if the spurs really wanted Lauri he'd already be traded to them cause the warriors cant really compete with what the spurs have to offer the Jazz we outmatch anyone but then again is it worth going all out and giving too much for a players that's on an expiring contract?
Spurs probably want him. But they don't want to pay what Utah is asking.
No reason to overpay for this guy and ruin your future.
they would be probably asking to much like devin plus 4 picks or 5-7 straight picks. Danny ainge is a bad trade partner almost all of his trades are outrageous. he got like 6 picks for rudy
@@pgiivanlennardesguerra8300 Exactly. I think the going rate would be Devin plus 3 really quality picks (ie, unprotected) or maybe 4 picks if some are lower quality.
That's way too rich for me.
@@colin1818 Utah is the desperate team to trade him before his contract expire not anybody else. Utah will actually be so dumb to gouge the price and any interested teams they just look the other direction and not even bother negotiating with Utah on a package so then they will be left with nothing.
@@Fawnswine Utah is not "desperate" in this scenario. But I do agree, they're just inviting another desperate team to trade with them and get fleeced.

Maybe true - until last season.
Warriors won .537 before CP3, and .561 with CP3.
Duh the number went "up", BARELY by 2%.
But, Steph missed almost 20 games the year before CP3.
With CP3 and a healthy Steph Warriors only won 2% more games than the year before.

The reason you like the trade is cause you hate Sochan. You want tk get Lauri and Sochan to be gone plain and simple. You will be happy to see his good-defending ass off the team.
We don’t no what to do with multiple lottery picks. Spurs always trying to be cute like trading the 8th pick for 💩 acting like they still have the big 3
Everyone calm down Spurs FO will never do that stoooopid NYK package to get a non all star. They would’ve pulled that trigger on Spider. FAQ Danny Ainge he will not get his asking price. My only ? It's gonna cost at least 4 first round picks and 3 players. Even though he doesn't play defense, I agree with you on the picks you said. Chicago's, charlotte's that new 2030,2031. Keldon, Branham, Collins. If Ainge would accept. I would not give up 2025 own, 2025 Atlanta.
