What a beautiful machine. I'm torn between buying this and the R1250GS, I know, massive difference. I have to go test ride the R18. I wonder if it's more towards being a vanity motorcycle or if you can truly enjoy long tours with it and city riding as well.

For all the negative comments personally I don’t get it 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️ I’ve sat on both models and the attention to detail is impeccable. The point of this bike is it’s a heritage model as in it’s paying heritage to model from the past 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️ it feels different when you sit on it for sure, but for some forward controls on a bike don’t feel correct either. I ride a Triumph sport tourer and an sport naked bike, I had a cruiser with forward controls and it killed my tailbone and it lasted in the garage for one riding season. Congratulations to BMW for building something different than the normal look. Because if they built it as a V-Twin the Harley guys would be saying it was a copy 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️ Harley and Indian pay attention to how the brake lines are symmetrical how frigging hard is that to do 🤣🤣🤣
You need to go to Mustang seats to get a comfortable seat, and have it adjusted for you inseam measurement. You guys that are complaining about the heads poking out are dead wrong about comfortable ride once you have it built by Mustang, and have the right height adjustment made for your body. It is NOT an uncomfortable riding position. If youre an iron butt rider, getting off every 5 hours won't kill you to do that. Chances are, you'll be either hungry or you'll be needing to get rid of some Dunkin Donuts you drank earlier, so shut up and ride!
Looks at a cruiser motorcycle. First thing they talk about is "chrome" Must be the first cruiser they have ever seen. It is rare to see one, without chrome.
I never understood why motorcycles ' prices are always lower in the US than the EU. This German R18 comes for 19.870 USD (means 17.058 euros) but here in Italy this bike comes for 22.800 € (means 26,557 usd). It went across an ocean, anyway with a cheaper price
In Europe there are 19% VAT on top that can be refunded when exported. Don't know about the US import tariff. Does the sales tax come on top of the 19870 USD? And yes, the price politics is a secret of the manufacturers.
If they made some forward controls for it I would possibly think about purchasing one of these but unfortunately due to the cyclinders I don’t know if it would be possible. And that exhaust and mirrors are the first things that must go!
@@RideQuick Just my opinion mind you: Should have put the 1250 motor in it instead of the monstrosity that’s in it. Ride height is too low.Too many complaints about it scraping the ground easily. Yes but being a well known brand with multiple products in the transportation market surely there's some exemption to the cost unless all they think of is hugely bloated profit. i mean just look at the controls the concept was slick and simple. unlike the production bike looks bulky and so generic.
Despite popular opinion, auto and powersports manufacturers don't make (unit-per-unit) a lot off of individual sales and certainly not the dealers. New introduction models take a long time to recoup the cost of R&D, marketing, testing, manufacturing, logistics, legal, etc. Margins on bikes are very slim.
How can you justify the cost of freight and prep setup when you literally didn't do anything besides unboxing it and putting on side covers. Must just be bonus money for the dealer.
Dealer's get charged the freight and setup. We don't make it up. Ever shipped a package? Now, imagine shipping something this size and girth..., international. The manufacturer doesn't do it for free.
@@RideQuick that's not the customer's problem that you get charged. I've bought plenty of bikes over the years and always got the freight and prep waves cause it's a b.s charge. The mark up is so high the dealers are making money.
You are way misinformed, sir. You've been lucky enough to not have to pay those fees because dealers elected not to charge it, but that doesn't mean they aren't legitimate charges. "Bonus Money" implies we were given extra money to sell the product. That is not true. There is a "dealer cost" vs "suggested retail" as with all products but it's not nearly the margins you imply. Part of the problem with retail businesses is that some grant privileges and discounts to their customers and that gets confused as being the norm, which is misleading and ultimately hurts all businesses. Lastly, in regards to staying in business; sales is just one aspect and not the main thing in many cases.
Hey , they installed a battery tender pigtail and put gas in it, what do you mean nothing?
