Dear Naomi, I’ve been watching you for years now and love your channel and natural way of living. I have spent the last 6 months feeling very ill with nausea, severe headache, confusion and respiratory problems. I struggled to go to work. In a nutshell: My curtains had a chemical smell, so I looked up ‘can polyester curtains affect your health’ …..all my symptoms came up. I took the curtains down and I haven’t had any problems since. I am worried for people who are putting polyester in children’s rooms. Even if only one person is saved from the nightmare I’ve just had it will be worth mentioning it. You have definitely given me important insight to be careful with polyester curtains and other items in the house that may have chemicals that lead to health issues. When I bring in acorns and pinecones, I bake them at a low temp for a bit, on foil. To kill the bugs and dry out the sap and open up the pinecones. Sometimes the tops come off of the acorns. I glue them back on. You are such an inspiration!

Hi! Just a lil note on your starter… the pinkish top is letting you know it needs to be fed. Discard some of it… then feed it flour and water. Unless it growing mold don’t throw it out. The pinkish hue is most likely something in your water. Mine also turns a bit pink… hope this helps! Good luck… sourdough is worth all the trouble… promise 😊

I wouldn't throw away the whole starter, if it gets a top layer that discolors, that's normal. Discard that and use what's underneath to keep feeding it, it's part if the fermentation process. I've done both regular and gluten free. Regular flour can turn a greyish color. It just means you need to feed it more frequently.

Noemi, I love figs and years ago my husband and I planted a fig tree and only got three figs. Our growing season here in northern West Virginia is just not long enough. It had plenty of figs on them but they never had time to ripen before the frost got them.

I love your videos. I also had trouble with pink on my starter. I noticed it happening when I ran my humidifier in the kitchen. It also had some pink (I'm guessing mold) in it. I also see some of the same color in my shower sometimes. I pitched it and started over. I also dried and froze some good starter in case it happens again. But I'm not going to run my humidifier in my kitchen any more. : ) Thanks for the work you put in to make your videos special.

Naomi, It was hard to tell but it looked like you poured your sourdough starter down the drain. You should not do that, it hardens in your pipes. Use a paper towel to wipe out as much excess that you can and throw it in the garbage. Then you are good to wash your jar. Hope this helps ❤️ absolutely love your videos! Thanks for the lovely video. Try placing your glue gun on an old metal or foil pie plate to catch all the drips (saved me several times from trying to get the glue up of the table). I love that you enjoy your home so much, "home is where our heart is".

When I bring in acorns and pinecones, I bake them at a low temp for a bit, on foil. To kill the bugs and dry out the sap and open up the pinecones. Sometimes the tops come off of the acorns. I glue them back on. You are such an inspiration!

I have to admit I put the cooked butternut squash in the vita mix with out peeling it and blend with all the other ingredients. Never can tell the difference and saves a step. Thank you for your lovely videos you encourage, inspire and motivate me to carry on. 🌻🌼🌻

Hi! Just a lil note on your starter… the pinkish top is letting you know it needs to be fed.
Discard some of it… then feed it flour and water.
Unless it growing mold don’t throw it out. The pinkish hue is most likely something in your water. Mine also turns a bit pink… hope this helps! Good luck… sourdough is worth all the trouble… promise 😊

I wouldn't throw away the whole starter, if it gets a top layer that discolors, that's normal. Discard that and use what's underneath to keep feeding it, it's part if the fermentation process. I've done both regular and gluten free. Regular flour can turn a greyish color. It just means you need to feed it more frequently.

Noemi, I love figs and years ago my husband and I planted a fig tree and only got three figs. Our growing season here in northern West Virginia is just not long enough. It had plenty of figs on them but they never had time to ripen before the frost got them.

I love your videos. I also had trouble with pink on my starter. I noticed it happening when I ran my humidifier in the kitchen. It also had some pink (I'm guessing mold) in it. I also see some of the same color in my shower sometimes. I pitched it and started over. I also dried and froze some good starter in case it happens again. But I'm not going to run my humidifier in my kitchen any more. : ) Thanks for the work you put in to make your videos special.

Naomi, It was hard to tell but it looked like you poured your sourdough starter down the drain. You should not do that, it hardens in your pipes. Use a paper towel to wipe out as much excess that you can and throw it in the garbage. Then you are good to wash your jar. Hope this helps ❤️ absolutely love your videos! You make me smile every Saturday!

Thanks for the lovely video. Try placing your glue gun on an old metal or foil pie plate to catch all the drips (saved me several times from trying to get the glue up of the table). I love that you enjoy your home so much, "home is where our heart is".
