What Great Waiters
I'd like to know how they knew which colors to use. Do they guess or do the shades of grey give the colors away?
In some cases, they had access or references to sets, props, and outfits used. But in other instances, certain colors were chosen for what was deemed the best fit.
We researched the time period. When possible we actually talked to actors that were in the movie we were working on. We worked closely with Shirley Temple Black and her family when colorizing all of her movies.
When working with Shirley Temple we found that they wore colors that would add contrast when filming black and white, not always what they would have actually worn. Which makes so much sense!
