    Here is my first video tutorial for Music Radar. We discussed on the phone which band to do first and we both came to the agreement of a MUSE song. The reason I choose 'Time Is Running It', is because it's one of their more popular songs and has a lot going on in it.
    Hope you enjoy it,
    Ben

    First song I ever learned to play on drums good 4 years ago thanks to this video. Back then I was so hyped and proud of myself that I had actually learned to play a full song, and well now years later here I'm playing drums in a melodeath band hoping one day I'll be able to make a living out of music. Highly doubt it but well without hope theres no succes

    Been playing for 12+ years. However, even with my trained ears sometimes it's difficult to figure out what exactly a drummer is playing in a song. Great tutorial man!

    Great tutorial, thanks man! Really love how you are to the point but still provide slowed down parts without too much explanation. I learned so much from just getting into the beats and grooves this way

    Fantastic job! It's an absolutely perfect tutorial. Just the right amount of time spent on each section and all the different camera angles really help. It's all too easy to be a great drummer (well, not that easy :P) and then be rubbish at conveying what you do to other people but you have talent at both! Thumbs up!!!!!

    Not to take anything away from this video at all, because Its brilliant and you explain everything in real nice detail for easy understanding and learning. But there are quite a few little pieces I saw that are incorrect but like I said there only minor. Still best tutorial on youtube for this song.

    Hey, great cover! I've almost finished learning it on drums my self so thanks, but I don't have a ribbon crasher so I've just replaced that part by hitting my hi-hat with the side of my stick and it seems to be fine. Can you think of a better suitted replacment though, or even a better way to use the hi-hat, thanks

  • @TheCebe95
    @TheCebe95 12 років тому

    Great lesson! But I noticed that on the tom fill when it gets to the hi-hat bit, Dom plays the ribbon crasher with his right hand so it sounds a bit like a double open hi-hat (which could be an alternative if you don't have a ribbon crasher)

    just one thing i've noticed is that in the beginning, the high hat accent is on the UP beat, not the down beat. its tricky and it seems like people leave it out alot.

  • @ShaneL9605
    @ShaneL9605 12 років тому +1

    @MrCstewart8 I open the hi-hat very slightly a just hit it as hard as I can without cracking it. It doesn't sound as good as the ribbon crasher but it works.

  • @stuartforbes
    @stuartforbes 5 років тому +1

    Nice stuff. I'm just starting out on electronic drums and dont have a ribbon crasher. What would be the best way around that? Just using the hi hat?

    @Sanroxem lol i know what you mean. Dont worry and keep practicing. All good drummers have had years of it. I use to struggle with this but now i can play it with my eyes closed because i practiced all the time. Keep it up and keep drumming, you will eventually get it. :D
