Seattle PCL construction special projects superintendent. I came up through the carpenters union 7 years foreman in finish carpentry as in cabinets and doors . Whole new world for me . PCL does really good at setting you up with the right tools . I have your book on audiobook and thank you . It’s hard to find content that gets straight to the point on the same type of work I do .
28 just became a commercial superintendent coming from 9 years of residential labor work , biggest advice is be teachable , be the dumbest person in the room and learn everything

Jason, what do you recommend if our company does not use takt planning. They use MS project I am 26 yrs old and was given the opportunity to manage a 70 million dollar project with 380 units, 2 pools, 4 elevators & 8 story garage. Currently 1 super and 2 assistants.
It depends on where you are in the world. A super is in control of the field and manages the day to day. A project manager supplies the project with resources and leads the project from start to finish.
@jasonwilliamschroeder would you do If you were undervalued had these skills and weren't offered a promotion because you pissed your company president off for expressing that.
I'm jk you'd quit. Your advice is nice but that's not how you actually get promoted. Yea you'll understand the job better if you do those things, but everyone will hate you. You need to be silent and let project managers be really stupid and be a boot licker
If you want to be promoted in construction you never talk back and recognize that the things being requested of you are coming from incredibly stupid people and you need to stroke their ego then just get it done

I would run the project with Takt and export the schedule to whatever format they want. If it is your ass on the line it is your decision.
