- This analysis features the chess game between Vladimir Kramnik and Peter Svidler from the 1998 Dortmund tournament. The opening is a Grünfeld Defense, Exchange with Kramnik deploying his knight to e2. Svidler aims to disrupt white’s setup by inserting a check before Kramnik castles. Kramnik’s accurate play provides us with an excellent example of strong central pawn play in the middlegame and endgame phases.

Positionally dominating miniatures with high % accuracy might be my favorite category of games you analyze 💯
They make it look effortless and the technique is impeccable
Funny how overly specific your fancy is, and how little it makes sense to anyone outside our chess bubble, but I 100% agree
@@rolfkarlsson276 I love this game and our tiny little community
Nice timing talking about accuracy on Kramnik's games. I see what you did there! 😉😅
@shouldsofgiants4649 pls tell me what he did there
Great analysis as usual. Chess is a baffling game.
Your teaching methodology is amazing. Learn so much more from these videos for to you showing clearly why certain pieces are 'poison' or what could happen in many positions of the wing love is played. Thank you Jerry.
An old but amazing game.. I remember saw this game in in inside chess magazine
Nice to see these “old time” greats going at it. Happy to see them still around, and at such a high level! I love them comment on current play.
ok Jerry, I will stop playing the Grunfeld :- (
Pawns, its always the pawns.
Aw man, now I'm scared to play the Grünfeld. Could you show a model game with the Grünfeld, not just against it?
lol I was thinking the same watching his recent videos
Amazing video .... I have been playing Ne2 variation from white side .... now I have learned a few additional ideas from this video!
💪😎
Great commentary. Loved that game.
Great analysis as usual. Please do more Kramnik d4 c4 games, taking subtle positional advantages move after move, I love this play style.
A great game to highlight the importance of dark square pawns when you have the light square bishop.
👍
a fine demonstration of the power of the central majority from Kramnik, thanks Jerry.
Amazing explanation. Thank you so much.
Thank you for watching. 👍
You deserve a Netflix series, just doing your stuff. TY GM!
Thanks Jerry, Really Useful. Should be watched more than once !!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you CA. 👍
Personally, if I were Svidler, I would hang fool's mate in the next game
Comment speaks for itself.
Thanks, Jerry!
Thx for the game. I leaned a thing or two, pr usual.
Very instructive indeed! Thanks Jerry!
Kramnik will wind up being one of the more "unremembered" world champions, which is truly a damned shame. I wish the internet had been a bit more robust during his era.
Thanks as always, Jerry.
Yeah everyone remembers Garry vishy and carlsen
@@BREAKocean Who? I only know Hans. And Ruy Lopez.
Kramnik was a an absolute beast, such a sound player.
@@raylopez99 lol
@@raylopez99 and the Botez sisters. So qUiRkY
thank u
h3 is truly instructive.
As a king pawn player i never see many gruenfelss but this was awesome
Great game and great commentary Jerr
Great game, and great analysis
these guys make it look so easy
Well calculated. Thanks Jerry.
note to self: if you have a great centre, try to protect it with your pawns to create a pawn chain. Don't be so eager to push your passed pawn if it would be over extended
This is an excellent study and much appreciated 😊
The mark of a great chess commentator and teacher: Jerry just makes it seem so easy, logical.
Actually I love these videos because illustrates how white attacks and where did black go wrong
Jerrys way to contribute to the whole drama. Just showing a game where kramnik is playing like an engine lol. Love it!
Great vid
Love a good Jerry vid in the morning

There was trouble with Kramnik recently
hi Jerry, its everyone 😊
Man. 97% is suspiciously accurate. Someone should review this Kramnik fellow.
Hi Jerry.
👏👏
8:25 Is "pawn chain" here adopted from Nimzovich's term in My System, in which there is a chapter called "The Pawn-Chain"?
I ask because, in the sense Nimzovich meant, there is no Pawn-chain in this position.
Was Aron Nimzowitsch named after the opening?

For the four white pawns to be in a Pawn-chain there would be black Pawns on d7, e6, f5 and g4, directly opposing the white pawns. The Pawn-chain as Nimzovich meant it would consist of eight Pawns, the four pairs of opposing Pawns.
Black castled too soon in this game.

No, White does not continue to *"reshtrict" the bishop, he continues to restrict the bishop. Unless you want to sound as if you're drunk, or doing a bad impression of Sean Connery. It's up to you.
Suck it, Trebeck
