    We NEVER had a problem with fleas, because we are diligent about giving our pets Frontline Plus. After leaving our back door open, a stray cat ran into our basement. The cat was found, released outside and two weeks later we had a HUGE FLEA INFESTATION!!! We tried EVERYTHING, our last resort was a few EXPENSIVE ESTIMATES from some exterminators.
    Our 5 month battle with fleas has finally come to an end, was shocked to see how well the IGR worked! Thank you for this very informative (funny) video!!

      Did u get rid of them for good? I just bought the igr and hoping this will do the job. I am a nervous wreck. I'm afraid I'm going to poison everyone who steps in my house.

      Thanks, Mr Boompowzap. I got concerned watching how closely it was sprayed around everyone. But my problem is really stressing me out so much, I'm desperate to find a solution. Glad to see this works and everyone is fine! Thanks for the information.

      Mike Elbow, you had better be kidding!!! Our little people are the most precious things in the universe! ...And OMG, it's taken about a month to kill these dadgum fleas! I guess we'd better get used to this. Climate change, and all.

    I've been battling a flea problem for several months now, tried everything from DE, to foggers, and treated dogs and cats with Frontline, with little success. Tried the Archer product and a pesticide last week and noticed results in a day. Still finding a few fleas, so treating house again. Thank you!

    We have been battling fleas for about a month. Finally sprayed the Martin's brand of this stuff on Tuesday. Been vacuuming diligently. I hope we finally got this under control. We asked my son why he kept bringing the barn kittens inside. He said, "Because they're cute!"

    This stuff works very well. However.... it needs to dry. Cover your whole house and take your family out for at least 3 hours. Id say 5 hours to be sure. Also remember it takes time to have an effect.. if you have a flea problem use Advantage 2 on the affected pet(s) first. The fleas on your pets will begin to die and run for cover. This is why it is important to use this stuff immediately after. The advantage 2 will slowly kill the fleas on your pet and keep them off of your pet but they still will be loaded with eggs and larvae and will have spread. If you blanket your house with this stuff the escaping fleas and the elsewhere hibernating fleas, eggs, and larvae will be sterilized and die off. As a final action you should vacuum everything in your house and immediately dispose of the vacuum bag. Also gather all of your linens and clothes and wash them on hot cycle. If you do all of the above you will be flea free. Just remember to be patient. If will not happen overnight.

I put the advocate sachets with water around the carpet too. waste not want not.. refill a couple times.. let it kill them on the carpet..

    Fleas always go along walls base boards doors . Lets say you do a room you start by spraying a big X from corner to corner and then all baseboards and door frames .

    • @maddiesgamingchannel8163
      @maddiesgamingchannel8163 8 років тому +4

      Yep you're absolutely right, they like to hide in dark areas along the baseboards and always like to be in the shade in a preferably humid area since they need a certain amount of humidity to breed. It's highly unlikely to find a flea in the middle of a room or out in the open unless it drops from a pet or person so it's still a good idea to spray lightly in the middle of the room but focus more along the rooms baseboards.

    @Omar Abo Al Hijah for some reason I cannot directly reply to your question. The insect growth regulator does not kill fleas or eggs. It keeps the fleas from breeding and the eggs from hatching. An insecticide must be used to kill the adult fleas.

    First of all I love how real y'all are with doing the spray. You literally are recording this while life is still happening. I was just reading all the comments. And let me tell you a lot of these people are disrespectful and rude!!! I just seen that one was talking about how they were wanting to know how the product was used not a live sitcom.
    Ugh!!! Anyway I have the NY guard brand. And it literally has the same directions.
    Now that I'm done babbling, I just wanted to say thank you for showing us how to apply the stuff.
    And ha like your wife asked in the video !! If this product helps us women not get pregnant, I'm 150% a life long customer to it as well. Lol.

    • @boompowzap
      @boompowzap  5 років тому +4

      Ms. lovely lynn thank you for commenting. We still use the product although we use different brands from time to time. We started using it at farther intervals and only treat when we see the first flea. This is usually around 18 months. We have also refined our techniques a bit due to everyone’s concern for our health. Lol.

    Most flea sprays like (Precor2000,Alpine flea spray,Novacide) have nylar in them but Archer is great for the yard since it's photo stable and able to be mixed with a hi percentage permethrin mixture like (hi-yield 38) and that seems to do them in very fast outside. When I spray inside though I just buy a few of the aerosol bottles I named because it's a lot less of a mess to deal with inside. Using an igr is probably the best preventative measure you can use like you say and I've tested a lot of different things in my yard since it seems to be a flea magnet in the spring and no spray or granule has ever worked by itself without igr when I use it, it just all ended up being a waste of money.

  • @knightshift8714
    @knightshift8714 5 років тому +5

    I'm having the same problem once again but what I do is I buy basically 3o4 of everything/different brands foggers , things you put on water hose (for yard), the dirt like substance, even that concentrate stuff like showed on this video, I've even use lavender like cleaning products like fabuloso un a spray or pump bottle, the leftover washing machine water after washing clothes(connect the drainage to a huge bucket), you name it I've tried it! I've come to conclusion that best thing to do is to hit them with everything! literally! Keep on doing everything you can, like I said till day go away! Only use two maybe three bottles at first of everything that I said, always save some for about 2 weeks later, if it calms down in any way. If it don't calm down in any way after half a week use everything you got and going to have to buy some more! Yes I will be expensive but its the only way I know to get rid of your problem. Even professionals have left me down! I've learned that! Don't forget to get under the house sometimes the attic is required! Literally have to go all out! Oh and don't forget to this flea your dogs and cats every night. Usually spray them with apple cider mixed with fabuloso every time they go out and disflea them (with flea comb) before they come in! Don't forget every 3 to 4 days to put that liquid flea repellent on their spine with (flea collar too) good luck! Anybody else that has tips or questions please fill free to hmu!
    Edit: I have also various Víctor Flea trap thiger mcJigs (I think that's what they are called) in about every room including the porches, not only do they work as a night light they actually kills plenty of fleas! Within the first months they'll definitely pay for themselves I guarantee you! When you run out of them sticky pads they come with use water mixed with soap & a little bit anything else/toxic u may like to mix up, & watch and see plenty of fleas die! only downfall is that you'll have to refill/change the soap water about every 2-4 days (depending on where it's at and if nobody kicks it)but that's another real way to kill fleas you can actually see them dead! You can start & think that those things are expensive but when you see so many Dead fleas (including many other irritating insects) then just remember would you rather have them be in your bed or couch/etc biting you...

    • @hollyharris1874
      @hollyharris1874 7 років тому +8

      Yes! I came here just to point out the little boy rubbing the poison with his hand then eating whale crackers out of the box. Dad told him to stop; why didn't he tell him to wash his hands? Great example of an adult paying too much attention to making his video / less time watching his kiddos. I'm grateful for the information but would rather give this up than have that child eat poison. (Also, I think you're supposed to remove small pets like birds when you spray insecticide.)..I'm sad.

    the heck with organic or gentle, I want a spray that will Exterminate the little pests!
    started in the basement with outdoor cat that brought fleas inside.
    I has been a frustrating experience, I've tried precor fog, nyguard igr, adams spray. bathed my indoor cat with Advantage which worked great along with PetArmor Plus. good stuff!
    but, when I go in the basement I pick up fleas, after bombing repeatedly.
    I might become an exterminator after all this. LOL

    I had a big flea infestation in 2017 and even a professionnal treatment with dragnet and bombs could not get me rid of these pests. I bought a steam machine and passed it everywhere especially in the crack floors and carpets. Results did not wait to manifest. After one or two heat treatments, fleas at every stage of growth disappeared completely. And they never returned so far. If so I will know what to do.

      @@bobk100 It looks like a vacuum cleaner but it has a tank in which you put water and boils it as in a pressure cooker. When steam is created, you spray it on what you wish to clean. Simple enough. The machine comes with various accessories. I suggest to use distilled water to avoid clogging by lime. I think that it is possible to rent the appliance.

    Diatomaceous Earth (food grade) is not toxic and it works. NyGuard is toxic and has many safety issues. The only trouble with DE is that it has to be reapplied if it rains or the animal gets wet, but it is safe to eat for both humans and pets.

    • @lilchi721
      @lilchi721 8 років тому +2

      Only the food grade stuff is edible but the stuff you put in your garden,yard,or on the pets is more of a pesticide. You don't have to reapply when it rains cause it will dry and will still be effective.

    I have good results from generic front line... The vet taught me a money saving trick by buying the 136 lb dog size which is 4ml instead of the .5ml cat size. Then just use a syringe to precisely measure out the .5ml required for cats. That way you get 24 doses for the price of 3. The cat size is the same price and it's 8 times less product. I use a 10ml graduated cylinder with a rubber stopper to store the leftover that works well too. I treat my 2 cats and my neighbors 2 cats every 2 to 3 months and we haven't had fleas for 5+ years now and they were ferocious here in NEPA. This looks like a good method to protect the house though we have hardwood floors other then linoleum in the kitchen and bathrooms. Great information, Thanks...

I've been using coconut oil, I guess it's working, but it's so greasy! I comb him a lot, but I'm really scared if they go on my fabric Sofa's & thru house!! The biggest problem is that indiscriminate use of pesticides has resulted in the fleas becoming resistant to the chemicals. Incorrect use has resulted in the strongest fleas surviving and when they breed the offspring is harder and harder to kill. What ever you use, follow the instructions exactly and alternate between various active ingredients. Good luck with this scourge.

  • @GolDreadLocks

    I wouldn't use toxic chemicals on my kids so definitely not on my animals either!

    This product is far more safer than an insecticide , It works also on ants much like contraceptive pills = no babys = no colonies = no more ants,I dont know why exterminators insist on using ''regular'' insecticides that target not only insects but humans.Fast acting insecticides should be used only in case of infestation that needs to be stopped immediately as the IGR takes some weeks to act.
    I am not an expert , only somone who read a lot about this topic.

      There are thousands of natural things that can kill and maim us. Being natural means nothing in the context of safety.

    • @Snowmon89
      @Snowmon89 6 років тому +1

      Steve Klein, True, just because it's "natural" doesn't make it safe. Technically speaking Arsenic is natural. HOWEVER, there are some things that are toxic for some creatures that aren't toxic to another.
      Do you know why so many raw vegetable have a bitter taste to them? That's due to a plant's natural chemical defense against insects. Given, not all insects are effected by this chemical, but it does work.
      In the case for Coconut oil, for example, it causes the outer shell of fleas to disappear, thereby drying them out. Said oil doesn't harm humans nor pets. That said, you can't get rid of fleas, by just geting rid of their adult stage. You also have to find a way to disrupt their lifecycle because those eggs can lie dormant for months before hatching.

    Good reality homey video, I got an infestation problem second time in 15 years this happened here, I drown them in soapy water and tried a little flea powder the problem with that is you cant do the whole carpets only less than 3 feet by 3 at a time which doesn't work and its dangerous. My landlord is calling an exterminator he rather not use the flea bombs which I was planning on doing, because it's hazards to breath he said. why a keep the bird in the garage? birds are sociable i use to cover the cage in the winter with a quilt and put a heater right by it, had one that grew up with a family and very smart, dose the bird keep the kids from sleeping.

    Hi there. Im Sufiah all the way from Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. I dont know whether it is fleas or ticks or dust mite. What i can confirm is the mattress that i sleep on about a month ago, my husband and i used to feel uncomfortable like something was walking underneath our skin. Our master room door is kept closed now for over a month. We dont itch anymore unless we are outside of the room sitting at the lounge area or dining area and the kitchen. I used to see a lot of white stuff . sometimes its falls on my hair and my face. What i also do notice, black spots like feces but very tiny and not thick, kinda looking like black dust. Now my face and around my neck area is full of spots. Its not like pimples but its really ugly. Please help.
    Thank You

      I found a product called Martin's Permethrin 10% Multi-Purpose Insecticide, 32oz (1quart). You can mix in a bucket dip your animals dogs and cats and then spray all through your house like on your furniture like couch, bed, mattress everything and still be able to stay in your house I would wash your sheets in a little bit of it with hot water and detergent. On the reviews people who have bad cases of scabies you can go in the shower after you take a shower then make sure that you have a bucket ready with diluted and pour all over you it doesn't have any smell and then just dry off and go to sleep and next day wash it off don't do it everyday but read the reviews on Amazon it's amazing on what it's done for people(reviews will tell you what they do) who have suffered for years we don't have scabies but our dogs are infested with fleas. I'm just saying this to help people because it's psychological and it's sad how people suffer. 👍🤗

    Is this stuff safe for use around cats? We literally haven't had any flea problems in years, either; as all our pets are exclusively indoor (couldn't _stand_ the persistent vigilance/maintenance/expense if they were constantly going in and out and bringing them inside). However, recently I played the "good Samaritan" in taking care of some homeless outdoor kittens (not our backyard) who were flea-infested; and I think they must have snuck a clandestine ride into our home. :(

      Nylar and IGR works to stop the life cycle. It does not kill adult fleas. Use a flea insecticide for immediate results. The Nylar will stop fleas in the long run. We have 4 small dogs and two cats. We have not had fleas in our house for over a decade. Nothing else I have ever used has worked for the long term except Insect growth regulator.

    How is this different from Neem oil? It does the same thing and is a natural product which comes from a tree. It inhibits reproduction. Causes the bug not to feed or reproduce. It’s not harmful to pets or humans. It cost only a fraction of this product. I have used it in gardening. On my dogs and dipped my chickens in it for mite issues. I have also used it in my yard where my dog hangs out in combination with nematodes and milky spore which are natural and organic.

    Your son rubbed his finger in it, did not wash his hands and then put his hand in the box of food and was eating......REALLY. You should not spray it around with your family in the house. Does this thing also kill the eggs of the fleas?
    please answer...........

    • @maddiesgamingchannel8163
      @maddiesgamingchannel8163 8 років тому +2

      The product doesn't kill the fleas or eggs, it only renders them sterile so they can't hatch or reproduce so its best to use it in combination with another product that has a quick knockdown for fleas like 'permethrin' or 'conquer' for example. If you don't then you will still have the already live fleas in the area and all this does is act as a way to break the fleas complex 4 stage life cycle. So use a insecticide to kill the biting fleas and the IGR will keep them from coming back since insecticides don't kill off certain stages of the life cycle like the egg & pupae and the IGR does. Hope this helped you.

      +mustapha6 if fleas have infested your clothing or where you store your clothing, washing the clothing will kill the fleas. Some type of insecticide formulated for fleas may be effective for killing fleas in closets or drawers (I've had good results with foggers or smokers). After the fleas are dead, the Nylar will keep them from returning. You can treat most areas with the Nylar spray and I have not noticed any permanent discoloration or damage to clothing that I have accidentally sprayed.
