- Hydroplaning ATV. May 30, 2010. Yamaha Raptor 700 Quad water skipping/ hydroplaning over a lake that is approximately 5-7 feet deep in the Oregon Dunes at Hauser. Rider's name is Dave Lewis. Slow-mo and zoom replay at the end of video. HD
Jesus, returning in style.
Pastor Shawn Fuck your irrelevant god. Empirically prove it, *OR* shut the fuck up. There is no try.
Ramon Zarat disprove it.
James Wilson Can you disprove dragons?
jim jimjim yep, no dragon skeletons.
James Wilson You can't disprove anything to this day and I mean anything yet known to us!
I just hope this glitch hasn't already been patched, would love to try this myself
Nope, still working
only propane injected vehicles can do that you also need the right tires
not true at all
This one is simply: The formula for when hydroplanning sets in is: Speed (in knots) = 9 X the square root of the tire pressure (in psi.) If you're over it then it will work regardless of vehicle type, weight,...
I can do this on my Honda Civic, just slap on some sea world stickers and vtech will kick in yo
lmao
i just picked up some vtech stickers at the flea market. red ones. more hp than the silver ones.
raider61x
You should try mixing red vtech with sea world stickers and that thing is going to hydroplane across the ocean when vtec kicks in yo, I heard they have new stickers from NASA in red.

More kind of these video dude! This is freakin' art!! Even though I myself don't even hesitate trying
I never see something like that in my life xD
Ssme
5 years later
Robot
Glad they replayed it the first 12 times, cuz I didn't see it the first 7
what would jesus do? yeah
BeyondWrittenWords i'm here do that because that's what are years
I went to high school with Dave Lewis and he was an animal then and that was 35 years ago!! Some things never change, YOU GO LOUIE!!!!
Man,that looks like the perfect place to hang out,and this video is amazing!
raptor 700r best quad ever made!
I would have to say the 660, the 660 started it all!
akshooter762 I have to agree with you there. 660 ALL the way!!
It's good, but not the best, and the 660 is definitely not the best ever made.
Happy to see that out of the 17551406 viewers that we only have 998 dumb people that don't understand physics and think it fake.
+Bikes & Drones
City dwellers. Never skipped a rock.
+Bikes & Drones Mythbusters proved the physics is even valid on a motorcycle (Honda CR500R) they only got 3/4 of the way across but still impressive. Love that first run where he wheelies out of site on the beach!

AKA the Jesus-Quad
awesome vid. ive tried that many times but never been successful. you go boy!
cool!!! so cool...perfect balance and equilibrium..crazy good driver!!
It's a boat!?!?.. No it's a jetski!?!.. Oh wait it's an atv. Lmao
It's a boat, it's jesus, no it's just god
jetskis are atvs on water
I cant think of a name yea i know its kinda wierd I'm not sure you understand what ATV is. All terrain vehicles. Jetski's are not atv's on water because they're strictly water. That's like saying planes are just racecars that can fly.
jesus im just saying that atvs and jet skis are kinda simalar. jet skis are like atvs on water
I cant think of a name yea i know its kinda wierd no
Hold my beer
๖จ
Ok
fake cuz there r only 5 million people in the world and this video has 15 million views...
5 billion lmfao
Kahrese Lee Its million omfg go 3 school m9 btw sik englis u obv suck at languege
Nope its billions of people on the planet
Kahrese Lee Go 2 school
Wow! Nobody seems to be capable of spotting sarcasm when they read it. Lol... great comment!
No, not fake but near the end he was slowing down a bit, if he tried to go another 100 ft or so things might have gone badly.
I live literally less than 2 miles from there. Seriously. I saw this video somewhere else and immediately recognized it.
This is entirely possible. The morons on here who call it fake have only a child's education about the physical properties of water. Water has quite the surface tension and can easily support certain amounts of weight for some time. The amount of time here is small because of the forward velocity. Case in point...a man jumps off the golden gate bridge into the water. He dies on impact. Why doesn't he just live like any rube jumping into a pool? Because at high velocity...the water may as well be concrete.
totally fake and I have 3,000 phds in physics.
GB3770 only 3000?
This is possible by the watter density and deep of the lake. so with right speed and wight this can be made
tofsen n density doesn't matter much you can catch Hydroplane in your car when it's raining and your driving near the curves where there's more water then in the middle of the street, it's dangerous and people can crash because they loose control, they teach you the dangers about this in Drivers ED, and tell us not to drive fast when it rains near the curves
If the jumping man streamlines himself (i.e. by entering feet first and head last), then he'll cut through the water like a hot knife through butter.
Pff. Chuck Norris does this on a trike while blindfolded.
там глубина воды по щиколодку+вода сильно концентрирована солью,что бы повысить давление и плотность воды. Учите физику!
Купался там?
Such awesome quads 👌🏻
If you have ever been on a boat before (for a week or longer) its easy to tell that lake is more than 2-3 feet deep because the color of the water.
Did i hear Seth rogan laugh?! :D
Квадроцикл Иисуса
That was dope! I can't believe the people calling this fake. If quads had the power of a sled they would be racing on water just like sleds do. It would be tricky making a turn tho. It's done on bikes too. This is not at all unbelievable. Definitely kick ass tho.
This event is really significant in the development of "spin surfing" it is different from hydroplaning!
Dave
Dude you should check if you can find this one video. That guy LITERALLY runs on water, he uses some special shoes. He didn't go that long but seriously it was epic! :D Also he tells how to do it.
Quinto legal foi você mesmo que montou esta mecânica D+ ?
'Did this on my 250 R ATC back in the 80's Lake Havasu . Paddles work the best
+Rons Exactly, notice that he's going from sand to water. Slicks on the front, paddles on the back.
The model is rear wheel drive, and he has sand paddle tires. That's what pushing him, and that is sick as hell. I wanna know how deep it was.
Good job man I have done the same thing across a river on my raptor.
مركر
0:20 this man is a true gentleman, he even said hi to the ladies!!
i dont want to burst your bubble but a pond is technically 1 acre or smaller so you can have a two acre pond in your back yard and it is technically a lake.
Surface tension of the water keeps the ATV up but if u dont stay going full speed the ATV will sink because the surface tension of water only last for briefest moment so he is going fast enough that the atv is moving so it does not break thru
Hope this made sence
He did say the lake was 5-7 foot deep in the middle. This quad probably didn't hydroplane so much as simply drove over the drowned remains of his predecessors.
i just love those raptor 700
Gonna have to try that!
Whats not to like! Nice work.
To all the people that thinks this is fake its real i have buddies that do this shit all the time on quads snowmobiles and dirt bikes. Its all about speed and the way you hit the water.
It's the same thing as skipping a rock, if you go fast enough, you skip like he did. He's riding in the sand dunes, so he has paddles for that, which help to maintain the speed.
this was uploaded on my b day
One word descibes this awesome
"He's not even going very fast!"
- 12 yr old kid
I beg to differ
I really would love to know how many people of these 14.000.000 viewers tried to do the same thing and killed their quad in the water :D
Great video 🚗
This isn't movie magic, it's liquid science.
torque + paddle tires + big balls = hydroplaning quad.... no strings, no plexiglass, watch the truck that drives on water..... it also has lots of torque and paddle tires
Wow.. and he nonchalantly adjusts his vizier while stabilizing a high speed hydroplane.. then pulls a wheeley… put that event on XGAMES..
o.0 i wanna see this on timewarp
(the suspension)
that is epic!
in the slow mo, you can see that the tires are not digging into the water much at all. it would not matter of it was shallow.
I remember sitting on the top of the hill watching this!!
Do you remember 7 years later?
Beach Head of course I do
That's awesome. Good memory.
But a great job of video editing. Well done.
I've been to that exact spot. Its a lot deeper then expected
Nice, I tried that on my Brute force 750I and the first time I went over the handle bars. My friends got a good laugh.
Im so gonna try this when I find a location! got some snow tires which will be perfect!
Nice vid, we happen to do that with "Karts" (but only with a min of 400cc, because otherwise we sink... lol, happenned to us already) on small lakes of like 20-30m wide... with very high speed (more than 110km/h, usualy trying about 130/140km/h but then we have a short space to brake so it's hard to manage) ... and we use winter or modified sand kart tires to keep a grip on water not to lose too much speed and we'll definitely have to dive the 3-4m deep lake to get back the karts... ahaha
You can tell it isn't fake because you can see where the rear tires start to sink in due to the front tires breaking the surface tension. It isn't that impossible people come on its physics
so JESUS really wasnt walking on water , he was really just moving his feet really fast
SICK!!!! the only thing wrong with this vid is hes not on a Banshee!
how do you even figure out you can do that. class act.
Awesome vid!
It's not the weight that matters in this case. It's the speed that makes the quad aquaplanning.
thats a nice way to reply to someone
That has to be one of the coolest feelings in the world
that's sick man!!!
lake? more like a pond. takes balls to do that though, so i give him props
So, does this mean that 1/4" of water on the roadway has my wheels hydroplaning when I am driving 60 miles an hour?
That could explain the increased braking distances the State Patrol was talking about.
Yep, Yamaha. Always been the best, Always will be.
I love how people say raptor 700 is so fast it hardly beats a stock trx450
No they didn't. This was done with a dirt bike on Myth Busters as well and it has the same hopping in the rear end.
Mythbusters... they had a whole episode on these. Lake doesn't have to be deep either. That's why you should drive over 50mph in the rain.
Physics at its best!
OWNED THE LAKE BOSS !
350 raptor man that's fricken awesome
I rember see I'm this vid one it first came out my brother was watching it on PC and I was 8
350 raptor man that's awesome !
riding a bike on water....reality truly is stranger than fiction
This is right up the mythbusters alley
The "balls" on you man... impressive.
They've been doing it with snowmobiles for ages!
They just did this on mythbusters. what a waste of time they could have just watched your video. Sweet!
My uncle did it with a snowmobile at our local lake. It's easy, but if you mess up it's an expensive mistake.
hi, this is CCTV, the national television of China. we are amazed by the performers who can drive on the lake. do you have any information about them? because we are hoping to invite them to perform on CCTV in China.
Imagine the first guy to ever try hydroplaning...his buddies were probably like "oh shit..oh shit..OH SHIT OOHHH SHITTTTTTTTT...dafuq just happened?"
Yup !! That's real.. I had a 440 that would skip too. Dnt be hating Juvies
To all those who think this is fake, I got to this video from the mythbusters video confirming it...
Completely Awesome !!
He's keeping the front-end light, and WOT. I think, with the right tires, he could keep going as long as he had gas.
Really nice stunt!
If it was fake his back wheel wouldn't be bouncing like that. It proves that he is skipping over the water.
This video proves that the next World Water Speed Record will be set by Rose White in her jet boat 'R'
Go back to your professor for your Logic 101 class and demand your tuition back. You were robbed.
Oh its real if you watch he starts to lose it at the end, if it where like 20 feet more of water it would have sunk :) Great video BTW !!!!
that was for running this is call hydoplaneing when you are on a quad / or dirt bike or most things with wheels when you go fast anuft as long if you lane back to left you,er front wheels up abit where they are not draging on the water you will hydoplane over the water look at snowmobile water racing near anuft the same thing if you look at the video you will see him sitting way back on the sit to left the front wheels up .
what a legend, he has balls
Then you should know when a dip like this fills with water it's usually more than 5-6 feet deep in the center and that debris from surrounding plants will wash into it.
Your amazing dude
not fake... sand tires + extremely fast atv + high speed + leaning back = quad skimming the waters surface with the front wheels and propulsion from the sand scooping rear tires moving the water as if it were dirt. completely not fake.
