I think the main problem with learning to say ㅆ vs ㅅ for English speaker is that ㅆ is phonetically written in English as "ss" and ㅅ as "s", but "s" often just sounds like the double constant in English. (e.g. 'Sign' is pronounced like a double consonant.)
In fact, when "s" at the beginning of the word is followed by a vowel, it will sound more like a ㅆ than a ㅅ (e.g. sequel, some). On the other hand, if it is followed by a consonant (e.g. smooth, scam), it will sound more like a ㅅ.
In Korean, however, all the ㅅ will be accompanied by a vowel (e.g. 삼성. 사다.), and phonetically they are written "Samsung", "sada", which will inevitably be read as 쌈썽, 싸다.
So... I think it may be helpful if you start thinking of the single consonant 'ㅅ' as the odd, airy 's'. I am not sure if this will help, but try thinking that there is a gigantic 'h' hiding behind the 's' sound ? (e.g. sahmsuhng, sahda vs samsung, sada).

사다와 싸다는 문맥상 우리가 구별할 수 있으니까 너무 스트레스 받지마요. ㅎㅎ
근데 샀다와 쌌다를 구별할수 있는 문장이 많지만 구분할 수 없는문장이면 웃기긴할듯... 예를들어 화장실 얘기 하는데 갑자기 자기가 쇼핑센터에서 산거 자랑한다고 마 맞다, 나 이거 쌌다(?) 라고 하면 순간읭? 하면서 진짜 빵 터질 듯 ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

So I’ve started trying to translate what you guys say to Korean as I hear it to then compare to the subtitles afterward as translation practice, and I’ve only just now realized how much of a pain in the ass it must be even to just make subtitles for your videos lol. Here’s a trick for Ollie to learn the different pronunciations with the double consonants, single consonants and the aspirated characters (ㅋㅌㅊㅍ). Hold a tissue up near your mouth and if your saying the double consonants right the tissue will only ever slightly move, the single consonants will move the tissue a little bit and the aspirated consonants will move the tissue a lot. This has helped me to tell the difference between the consonants (even though I still don’t know Korean ☹️)
