I was one of the actors in this episode and I gotta say it was an honor to dance for Dhar Mann Studios. I could actually relate to this like people said I couldn’t make it as a dancer but I never gave up. Everyone in the cast did so amazing and it was so much fun working with them. :)

Not all Indians I guess. People here in Northeast are different and even though our parents are strict, it doesn't mean that they won't allow us to choose our carrer and what we want or what we love or if they won't allow their children to persue their dreams, it's because of the shortage of money. Although I didn't mean to drop any hate towards dhar's video, but this video kinda offend many Indian people. Maybe parents might be this strict in some other cities in India but it's not at all parts of India. I can't even understand main Indian language. So guys if not Indian with non strict parents plzz don't think that we want to drop hate on dhar mann. It's just that foreigners who are watching this video will think that all Indians are from strict family and so on....

This story rather hit home. When I was in high school all I wanted to be when I grew up was an artist. My parents wouldn't let me go to college for it, my mother said she refused to be mother to a starving artist. They made me believe I wasn't good enough. I ended up eloping 6 weeks after my 18th birthday. I finally went to college for art when I was 45. I wasn't able to make a career out of it but I loved it. I'm in my sixties now and semi-retired. Thinking seriously about picking up my paint brush again.
To all you young young people, don't give up on your dreams. I wish I had the courage to fight harder when I was 18.

I followed your every video @DharMann sir, and when some videos come with Indian culture, those videos showed only that- Indian parents are restricted. They are restricted but not like this. Thank you. It is only my opinion sir.

This video is relatable. I participate in an Indian dance called Bharatanatyam, and I was doing it for my school talent show. In reality, I believe the style is hard as your knees have to be bent all the time, and you have to jump down and up and spin while remembering the choreo, keeping the beat, and making it look easy. Not only that but the costume is 5 parts and there are more than 10 pieces of jewelry on your head. That school was an all-girls, uniform school and people stared at me when I entered that day wearing all the head jewelry and a full face of makeup. People stared as I walked in, and I had many encounters of people asking me if it was for a religion, some girl even said "Is that part of your Hindu religion?". People were saying this because my dad is full Indian, while my mom is from Texas, but I have pale skin. It was shamed that a "white" girl was doing this, they didn't even know my dad was Indian, because they were just looking at the color of my skin. Not only that but my sister was doing the same thing. She was much tanner, and much better at me at the style of dance, if not for her, they wouldn't have given me a spot because she was better. The announcers went as far as to not say the name of the dance because it was "too hard to pronounce" even though the name was straight forward, and I had explained to them how to say it. After I had explained to enough people I was part Indian, the rumors circulating to me stopped, about a "white girl" disrespecting an Indian dance style. The truth of Bharatanatyam is, anyone can do it. All you have to have is commitment.

"Passions are distractions." Probably one of the worst things I've ever heard. Sometimes I just don't understand why these traditions and parents' expectations have to be followed. Yeah they're parents, but don't forget that, THAT person's feelings is more important. You warned them, you told them, and they still refused to do what you want? Then leave them alone. Everyone has their own free will, they just have to decide, and make sure they don't regret it.

      I know it's sad. but they don't give you a job .
And without money and live a basic life, your passion dies..
      It's sad reality..
      Everyone has own free will.
But if you look at reality, tell me how many artists make money ?
Do you know how difficult it is for them , there is absolutely no money.
Especially last 2 years with covid , no work for dance shows..
You need sponsors , audience, you need to pay others.. for stage and everything..
And out of 10 only 3 make it , and that too no lifetime guarantee, u may hardly get a chance to perform..
Sometimes you need to balance both.
This is harsh reality, and our parents know that as they have struggled.

The reason(s) people do not watch these channels?:
1.) They didn`t learn to read nor speak another language,
2.) They find channels like these made up,
3.) They like lies and truth hurts them,
4.) They live careless on earth, because they have another place to move to live: Mars.
If they only know that "Mars" = Hell. Think about it:
a.) It comes from satan - going to live on Mars is a promise from satan.
b.) Mars is know as red planet. That means : FIRE SURROUNDING THEM. Where fire is found? In Hell and in the LAKE OF FIRE.

You know, I really relate to this and I’m actually kind of surprised that I do because all the Dhar Mann videos I’ve watched, I’ve never really related to but this one hit me in the heart. Dancing is also my passion and all my life, since I was in elementary, I’ve been saying how I wanted to be a doctor when I grew up and somehow I actually stood with that til now and I’m in highschool. But the thing is, I’m hesitant and I don’t know anymore. Everytime I think about it, I want to be in the dance community… my heart just doesn’t long to be a doctor as much as it does to become a dancer… and the thing is, my Asian parents always bring up how I need to focus on school and get a good job when I grow up and graduate from school and everytime I hear that, it makes my heart sink… they don’t know my feelings deep down, they know how much I love dancing though and they know that I’m a good dancer too but also, they’re not 100% acknowledged on the fact that I “might” want to be a dancer when I grow up but just thinking about, I don’t think they’d handle it well… especially my dad… although he knows how much I enjoy dancing, he’s probably gonna go against the idea, yell at me, and even probably kick me out of the house… it’s not easy but I think I’m going to really think more about how I want my future to be, and talk to them, I don’t really know how I’m going to start my journey of making dancing a career but I’m going to find it and make it work, this video made me realize that I’m not alone💗 I wished this video was in my native language so my parents understood and learned a little lesson… :))
Update: so I have actually talked to my mom about this and she completely supports me:) She thinks I should be able to be whatever it is I want to be in the future and that I enjoy , so yh.

I have been one of the most frequent audiences of Dhar Mann. I appreciate the team for their heavy work. Every concept and every tale is worth watching but things are just a bit disorganized in this case. I have witnessed this mother-daughter duo in other videos dressed as Indians where again, the main point of focus is marriage. But tbh, it's not the case, mothers inspire their daughters to grow and glow. It has to be agreed that marriage was the only concern in the old traditional Indian society but not anymore. There are still some rare underdeveloped sites where such intellect is prevailing but describing the entire India with such a concept is not impressive. Why would an Indian mother who is living in the US or abroad have such a mentality? Indian women are well equipped with everything. They know how to manage stuff very well. This concept doesn't seem entertaining especially when it is being repeated every time. Indian women are inspired by their mothers to work hard and settle for themselves and not for a guy. The ending of most videos makes sense but the content might be a little misleading.
