There is not a person alive today who doesn’t smile their arse clean off at this. RIP Rick, and thanks for leaving us with something this goddamn awesome.
The music snobs still rattle on about Quo's so called limited music ability but my ears know what they like. Always were and always will be one of the best rock bands ever. GO QUO!!!
They weren't the most talented musicians or even songwriters. No band could rock a stadium like Quo, just the best live band on the planet. RIP Alan and Rick.
That's what you want from a concert - and a gig. Brilliant. No idea what the Conductor made of it, but the violins and double bass players were getting down and dirty.
First heard Quo in 68 as a nine year old, they've never disappointed. I don't know anyone that hasn't walked away without a smile on their face after watching this performance. RIP Rick and Allen.
A lot of people do not seem to understand that the orchestra are professional musicians, who probably had the time of their lives rocking with the legends. I have never seen a french horn so animated!
I still remember that show. It was our very first NOTP in '99. Since then, it's a must-be-event for us. Unfortunately, I learnd today that John Miles passed away yesterday.
I don’t know their names, but can remember in the 80s the pianist had dark hair and mustache and ice cold look, like he was angry all the time. And now almost unrecognizable. White hair white mustache and not so angry look. I think we all going to soften up with age!
I was there standing front row. It was awesome. They did play as if they didn`t care about the whole classical orchestra behind them though :) And man, it was loud.
Quo aren't my favourite band but they are the best I've seen live. Absolutely wonderful sound they create. Luckily played on the same bill as them a few years ago and before the loss of Rick (rip).
*Status Quo at the Night of the Proms - Whatever you want* - majestic performance with big orchestra! Elevates spirit, soul, body and blood pressure... Rock on!
I have watched this many times. Its very addictive and its bloody brilliant. The orchestra are obviously loving it as well. The intro by the orchestra is damn good. Rick on the guitar at the start makes the guitar sound absolutely beautiful. All in all its a video if you like Quo you cannot afford to miss. RIP RP you brought much joy to everyone over the years. RP you are surely missed by everyone. Andy Brown the keyboard player wrote this song in about an hour. He thought he had done it and asked his wife to look at it. Her reply was. I think you have done it. Thank you for uploading this classic video. PC. 22. 10. 2020.
BRILLIANT! STATUS QUO at the night of the Proms. STATUS QUO FOREVER! The greatest band ever... Whatever you want...majestetic performance! Rick Parfitt, the best rhythm guitarist ever and boogie king! The Rhythm Master of the Telecaster! R.I.P. RICK!
The ultimate feel good band whether just themselves or with the classical musicians rocking out here. So sorry youve turned up way too early at the gig in the sky Rick.
Don't know how I never saw this before! Simply brilliant, and look at some of the orchestra players getting in the groove. So many beautiful female violinists! Just love the explosive ending!
Thought at first it might be a genteel almost acoustic rendition. Instead one of the greatest performances ever of this legendary track and with full house orchestral backing too. So utterly cool when serious orchestral goes over to the "dark side" and lets it all hang out. Awesome Quo as ever !
Been watching and following SQ from the late 60s,, Rick and Francis standing there when the lights go up,, the crowd baying,, the intro starts,,they know what’s coming,, Gladiator’s of rock,, just fabulous 🎸🎸
I’m majoring in music education, my goal is to have this much fun while conducting a marching band. I will definitely find a way to have a Quo halftime show!
If I get to the gates of Saint Peter, I will inquire of the Saint....O.K. So that's Heaven in there.....is Steve Marriott and Ronnie Lane in there, John Lennon, George Harrison, Martin Luther King, Jimi Hendrix, Keith Moon, Janice Joplin and too many to mention here....
Genuinely gutted about Rick, was the person when I was told about the history of recording I think it was (well he certainly covered that anyways) about the development of the electrict guitar had always been a fascination of mine at the time was presented on Radio 2 think it was by Rick!
Just goes to show, how good were these guys. Just look at what's going on behind them. RIP Rick, god bless and thanks for all the entertainment you provided over the years.
The orchestra are playing out of their skins having the time of their lives proving that rock n roll and opera do mix, when it is by genuine musically gifted people and that it transcends all generations. RIP Rick.😄😁🥂🍾👍🍺
Not seen this clip before, but it shows just how much their music is loved across this country, they never sold out they just rocked on and on , sod the haters, I've loved the quo since the mid 70s and still love them today
Quo played a very rare acoustic gig about 6 years ago. They were accompanied by an orchestra and they said how difficult it was sticking to a precise arrangement, not able to add a few extra bars here and there, like bands often do when they are having a good time and the singer doesn’t get back to the mic in time. This particular blend of 2 opposites of the musical spectrum does work very well.
NOTP should be a mandatory item on everyone's "Bucket List"!!! Regardless of who the artists are, it is an experience of a lifetime! Was there for NOTP 2013 to cross off a bucket list item... but fear I now have an annual pilgrimage... I just adored every thing about it. I wish I had witnessed the Quo there though... awesome performance... and a headbanging orchestra.... brilliant!
It's so fantastic to see the orchestra members enjoying themselves with the up-beat! It reminds me of the thursday night Mucky Duck Bush Band sessions in Churchils tavern (Upstairs from the Theatre) in Perth W.A. Members of the concert would come and join in when the concert below had finished! :-)
Absolutely brilliant!! 😀 😀 Love, Love, Love the mighty Quo, some of my favourite songs are : Rockin All Over The World Whatever You Want What You're Proposing Break The Rules Paper Plane Do It Again Heavy Traffic Rain Roll Over Lay Down Caroline Down Down And the list goes on.... 😀😀 RIP Rick Parfitt, 1948 - 2016 🙏 🙏
There is not a person alive today who doesn’t smile their arse clean off at this. RIP Rick, and thanks for leaving us with something this goddamn awesome.
Still can't believe Rick & Alan have passed away... ☹️
Could not agree with you more.
Couldn't have put it better meself; this is pure class... 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

With over 60 (correct) chart hits, more than any other band, who cares what music snobs say. Terrific group
Their longevity and their sell out concerts speak for itself.
Absolutely brilliant ☺️☺️
Everyone has the right to be an idiot. Or a King Cnut. I respect thet tou think that idiot pop music is your bag.im also so very happy you can read.
That's what you want from a concert - and a gig. Brilliant. No idea what the Conductor made of it, but the violins and double bass players were getting down and dirty.
No one hits those strings as hard as Rick....
This is pure musical gold. Can’t believe how much fun the orchestra are having let alone the band
The sax player reminded me how hard it is to smile and play at the same time.
First heard Quo in 68 as a nine year old, they've never disappointed. I don't know anyone that hasn't walked away without a smile on their face after watching this performance. RIP Rick and Allen.
There’s amazing and there’s amazing. This is is simply the best of Quo

Just to see members of the orchestra rocking to a timeless classic while playing their will only be one Status Quo awesome .
A lot of people do not seem to understand that the orchestra are professional musicians, who probably had the time of their lives rocking with the legends. I have never seen a french horn so animated!
_Nobody_ leaves a Quo concert without a smile on their face! :)
Wow.. Just when I think it doesn’t get any better, I find this video.. Wow
Don't care what anybody says,
still the best live band around.
I still remember that show. It was our very first NOTP in '99. Since then, it's a must-be-event for us. Unfortunately, I learnd today that John Miles passed away yesterday.
I saw them years ago ,the best i have ever seen ,best night ever .
This deserves more likes. Outstandingly good rock 'n' roll from Quo and friends.
I don’t know their names, but can remember in the 80s the pianist had dark hair and mustache and ice cold look, like he was angry all the time. And now almost unrecognizable. White hair white mustache and not so angry look. I think we all going to soften up with age!

The best bit was the two guitarists in the the orchestra head bangning - that tells you everything
THE ONE AND ONLY---STATUS QUO!!!
Best of luck conducting that orchestra!!! RIP Rick.
Quo aren't my favourite band but they are the best I've seen live. Absolutely wonderful sound they create. Luckily played on the same bill as them a few years ago and before the loss of Rick (rip).

As nelson said. Kiss me hardy. 😂😂

Actually, only the conductor isn't with it, as I think he is doing "Morning Has Broken" or sim!!!
Love the way the orchestra got totally involved Magic

Yes!😥🎸
Status Quo backed by a full philarmonic orchestra. Just outrageous but it works !
the song lends itself so well to orchestral backing.
I enjoyed seeing the orchestra letting themselves go.
What an amazing concert this was,so many great acts supported by that fantastic orchestra ..wow!!!!!!
Géants. Je la regarde en boucle . Status Quo, public , et l'orchestre qui se donne et qui montre son enthousiasme en se déchainant ! TOP

There isn't an adjective or noun, to describe just how brilliant this is.
A superb performance by all - especially the poor orchestra lol.

Wonderfully silly, "the Quo" and the symphony orchestra seem to be having an equally good time.
Just one word FABULOUS
Pure bliss. Thank you.
Lovely to see the orchestra just let it hang loose. They look like they have fun :-)
Fantástico viva estatus Quo saludos cordiales desde Neza México
Die beste Version von "Whatever you want", die man sich vorstellen kann. Erst sie macht diesen Song im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes zu einem "Klassiker".
:) I can proudly say i rigged for SQ here in Norway, i have a Stratocaster signed by SQ :) And...….. Rick were the last to play it and sign it
Quo are just one of the best) one great band
THIS IS MUSIC HEAVEN

Rest in Peace Ricky.
I missed this when it was on TV. I always promised myself I'd go and see Quo live on stage one day. Sadly that promise will never happen now.
Thank you for making me beam a very big smile - I loved it.

The scene of the concert with the orchestra in the "Top Secret" movie probably is done exactly in the end of this live.
Just look at the orchestra rocking out behind them - one of those epic pieces that you can't not tap your feeet and smile to :-) RIP Rick.
This is the big band!
